When you think of Bollywood movies you may think of cheesy lines and lots of songs and dance, but Bollywood movies could actually give Hollywood a run for its money. ‘alternative’ reasons to visit India, the more obvious ones like yoga, food and the fact that it’s really budget friendly certainly shouldn’t be overlooked! There’s no place with people like my people, Lin. There’s no heart like the Indian heart.
The little streets and squares surrounding the abbey boasts salons de thé, small boutique hotels, and there are several view points, the most beautiful one behind the church. As Vézelay is located in the Bourgogne region, you will find a lot of wine shops selling good Bourgogne Vézelay. The walk around the city will take you about an hour and will show you the remains of the city gate, the river and take you through the little streets with wooden houses. Uzerche, an hour south of Limoges, is called the ‘pearl of the Limousin’, a region in southern France, especially knows for its excellent beef and clear air.

Other notable off the track temples include Wat Manorom, Wat Wisunarat and Wat Phra Mahathat. Monks come here to catch the breeze on a hot day, tuktuk drivers take their naps in their hammocks and people stroll by the riverside to get away from the main sights. There are 2 temples on Phou Si hill; halfway up you will pass Wat Tham Phou Si and In the attic of cafe Kōpnoï, which is a cute little tea shop and art shop, the owners have set up a movie room.
We celebrated New Year’s Eve at a beach party on Koh Chang, spent a few days on Koh Mak and then moved onto Koh Kood. We traveled up north to have some adventures in Nong Khiaw, and then got ‘stuck’ for a little bit because due to Chinese New Year, many embassies were closed. Because we, under no circumstances, wanted to make the trip from New Zealand back home in one go, would hop back via Asia, maybe Greece, and then go home. Looking back, our travel pace in those first 3 months was pretty high, but knowing what we now know, if it hadn’t been, we never would have made it to Australia and New Zealand.
