Chocolate Concrete (Chocolate Crunch)

Some people like this crunchy chocolate cake served with pink custard (made using Pearce Duff’s strawberry blancmange powder for authenticity). You CAN use drinking chocolate powder in a pinch, but your concrete won’t look as dark and the chocolate taste won’t come through as strongly. Remove from the oven and mist the hot chocolate concrete cake with a little water (I used a spray bottle) and sprinkle with the sugar. I like to slice the crunch cake while it is still a little warm.

Slow Cooker Lamb Shanks

These Slow Cooker Lamb Shanks are braised in a rich red wine sauce until succulent and amazingly meltingly tender! Since going to restaurants is out of the question at the moment, why not make restaurant-worthy lamb shanks with rich red wine sauce at home? Red wine sauce is a classic pairing for lamb and it does make for a super rich and delicious gravy. What to serve with lamb shanks Mashed potatoes or cauliflower mash are both fantastic choices, all the better to soak up that rich sauce!

Sourdough Hot Cross Buns

Like most sourdough recipes, these hot cross buns need several hours to rise. Since these hot cross buns are made with sourdough starter instead of yeast they are not as fluffy as your average HTB… Active sourdough starter (you can buy sourdough starter online if you haven’t cultivated your own) STEP 3 Transfer the dough into glass pyrex dish misted with a little water, cover and leave to rise at room temperature overnight / for 12-18 hours (this is called bulk fermentation).

Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder

Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder cooked until meltingly tender and falling off the bone! You can slow roast lamb shoulder in the oven – a large shoulder joint feeds between 6-8 and will need to be cooked for at least 5 hours or longer. If you are cooking your lamb shoulder in the oven, check whether you need to add more stock in the pan after 2-3 hours. Choose a half shoulder if cooking in a crockpot (serves up to four) or a full shoulder joint if roasting in oven (serves up to 8).
