I’m actually 💀 Do you think he did it right?

#4 is my favorite not just with celiac but in life. If I had to get diagnosed with this disease I’m very grateful it was when I was young because it gave me the ability to learn so many amazing lessons from my parents that really shaped who I am today. It taught me about advocacy, communication, preparation, and so much more. I am by no means a parent so I won’t claim that I know what it’s like but I will say as a child who had celiac disease if my parents would’ve sheltered me inside and been constantly petrified that I was going to get sick, things might’ve turned out differently. You’re doing amazing 💕 and I hope my page gives you a little encouragement that with the right skillset and encouragment your child can grow up to have a very full and fulfilling life despite their celiac. @outback has always been a staple for me. They have a really large gluten free menu and their meat is super yummy. The steak was cooked to perfection and the ribs were fall off the bone! They also have the best gluten free dessert. A pecan brownie with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream 😍👏 I did ask for the chef to come out because although my server was SUPER nice she just wasn’t educated on what went on in the back. Have you tried outback yet? Follow for more on how to eat out safely with your celiac disease 💕

But it also still felt expensive 😂😂

My fav sushi restaurants 👇🏼 @hapasushi (multiple locations) @bamboosushi (multiple locations) @bluesushisakegrill (multiple locations) @kobe_ashland (Ashland OR) @foraged_restaurant (Denver CO) My go to sushi order is a philedalphia roll with salmon/ tuna nigiri. Who else loves an opportunity to safely share? I’m so used to having my own separate food, it’s always nice when all the food on the table is gluten free because I can finally eat family style without worry. At sushi restaurants my boyfriend does love tempura and gyoza but actively chooses to order gluten free sushi and use tamari so that we can enjoy together. Him making this choice always makes my heart so happy ☺️

Shoutout to @impropercity for being the best work from home spot. Found some dedicated gluten free fries at a food truck and it truly made my day 😍 Anyone else feel like Celiac safe fries have have a way of healing the soul 😂

It’s rough is the real answer 😂 After being glutened symptoms of fatigue, nausea, and stomach aches can last for a couple days and I know for others it can last weeks or even months. But unfortunately when it happens life doesn’t stop. Still have to work, keep the house in order, and thankfully my responsibilities are more limited but if you have kids too that is a FULL time job. So if this happens just know that it’s ok to take it easy and slow down a bit. Usually after getting glutened im drinking fluids like crazy, eating pretty plain and simple foods, using a heating pad constantly, and sometimes using @hilma_co gas + bloat pills for my stomach. Right afterwards activated charcoal has been a LIFESAVER for me personally because it helps me not puke but I wouldn’t take that consistently because it interacts with other meds and makes it so you don’t absorb your food. Holding so much space for you 💕💕 Follow for more celiac education, restaurant + product recs.

The medical system truly erks me. Exactly like this audio most doctors and like welcome to your new life, eat gluten free, see ya. Like what 😳 that’s all I get? So here’s my 7 best pieces of advice to get started with your new life (as a celiac of 19 yrs): 1️⃣ I know it may seem like the world is ending but nowadays there are so many resources, amazing gluten free brands, and restaurants that with practice it is totally possible to do everything you did before. Don’t let people on the internet freak you out or make you hyper vigilant. 2️⃣ Go hire a dietitian that SPECIALIZES in celiac disease. Not a normal one. Make sure that they actually know what they’re talking about. There are a lot of affordable ones that take insurance but this is such an important step to make sure you are taking the necessary steps to heal properly. 3️⃣ Download these apps: @foodisgoodco to help with grocery shopping, FindmeGF for restaurants. Although Fig is coming out with some amazing restaurant features this year 😍 4️⃣ Know that although looking for certified GF labels on packaging is a great place to start, don’t become reliant on it. You need to actually learn how to read labels which is what a celiac dietitian can help you with. 5️⃣ Don’t be afraid to speak up about your disease. Although it may suck yes you do need to tell the server every single time that you have a “gluten allergy”. And if you need to bring your own food somewhere have a medical note on hand. Businesses are legally required to make reasonable accommodation for you. 6️⃣ You are totally allowed to bring food and ice packs onto planes. So when you travel make sure to bring lots of food. You may get checked at security but i promise it’s allowed. As long as it’s not a liquid like yogurt or a smoothie. 7️⃣ Make sure you are doing everything you can to prevent cross contact in your own home. This means keeping the counters super clean, getting a new toaster / air fryer, and not putting anything directly on your oven racks. There is so much more advice I could give but these are some big ones. Comment below any questions you have and maybe I’ll make a pt 2 🙌
