Which do you prefer - small, unique hotels or large, fully-appointed accommodations? While there are definitely times I appreciate both, thereโs just something I love about boutique hotels. ๐ Especially those that take older buildings with a ton of character and transform them into something completely unique - and @thejenningshotel in Northeastern Oregon is one of those. Hereโs what you should know: ๐Located in Joseph, Oregon, this is the perfect jumping-off location to explore the Wallowas (the โAlps of Oregonโ) ๐ The hotel has 14 rooms, each is unique and has touches from a variety of curated designers ๐ค Community shared spaces include a kitchen (with a library), balcony, and (clothing optional) sauna โจ Youโll check yourself in (detailed instructions will be sent to you before your arrival) as there is no front desk ๐ There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance ๐ Make this a solo or couples trip! Has the weather ever changed your plans? If you love travel and adventure, youโve probably had at LEAST one time that the weather thwarted your carefully laid plans. And if you havenโt? I highly suggest you go knock on some wood, cross your fingers, or whatever you gotta do to keep it from happening. Or go buy a lottery ticket, because you must have awesome luck! ๐ We have LOTS of examples ๐ : ๐ The time a hurricane back east canceled our flight while we were on the way to the airport ๐ The time our flight was canceled for a blizzard - BEFORE it even started snowing (and our flight was due to land 4-5 hours before the predicted snow ๐) ๐ Flying to Hawaii this spring to see Volcanoโs National Park to be rained out for days on end ๐ Flying to Alaska hoping to see the Northern Lights but getting clouds the entire time instead We could let it ruin things, but instead weโve learned to roll with the punches. ๐ When the hurricane changed our plans, we ended up taking an epic 10 day road trip through Oregon and California โ๏ธ For the blizzard, we flew into an airport 3.5 hours away, rented a car, and made it before the worst hit โ๏ธ When Volcanoโs NP didnโt work out, we pivoted on the last day to spend an extra day soaking in the sun and playing on water slides at the @hiltongrandvacations Kingsโ Land Waikoloa ๐ In Alaska, we didnโt get Northern Lights, but we did get snowboarding, sunsets, and evenings in the hot tub Whatโs the last time you had to pivot for the weather? This has made camping so much better! ๐ Have you ever gone camping in the PNW in June? In particular, if youโve stayed near a water source (lake, river, etc.) or meadow, you know how BRUTAL the early summer mosquitos can be. (The spot in that first video clip was one of the WORST Iโve ever experienced. You couldnโt be outside for more than a minute without getting bit. ๐ ) A couple of years ago, we picked up this @gazelletents 6-sided screen gazebo and itโs been such a game changer! (Btw, this isnโt paid. ๐ Itโs just something we really love! And Iโm all about making camping more comfortable.) Itโs super easy to set up. I can pop it up solo in minutes, or our kids can team up to assemble it while we tackle other camp tasks. ๐ My favorite part? Each panel is armed with tight-weave mesh, keeping those pesky mosquitos at bay. ๐ซ๐ฆ It also has a UPF 50+ rating, making it perfect for beach days too! Itโll also keep us dry in light to medium rain (we generally donโt set it up if itโs a huge storm). I look forward to summer every year because itโs the perfect time to explore the best features we have: โ Mountains โ Beaches โ Rivers โ Lakes โ So. Many. Waterfalls. ๐ Not to mention the weather is warm, but still relatively mild (obviously since Iโm in pants on a paddleboard ๐คช). And, even when itโs hot, itโs nothing like swimming through the humidity in the south. ๐ I love filling our PNW summer days with outdoor adventures and soaking in sunsets on the Oregon Coast.
