I am a registered dietitian that focuses on using nutrition to enhance my clients quality of life. Rather than focusing on a number on a scale, I measure more important metrics of health such as energy, digestion, mood, and relationship with food. I take an Intuitive Eating approach to nutrition and encourage body positivity.

How might your food intake and relationship with food look if you were to eat for better energy, a better mood and better digestion? 🤔⁣ ⁣ This is what I mean when I say "eat to feel good". I think people hear that phrase and they think it means just eat "comfort food" all day long. ⁣ ⁣ There is nothing wrong with foods that would be considered "comfort foods" but when we eat to feel good physically and mentally, our body craves variety. It craves all different types of food, including comfort foods, and foods that would deemed "healthy" by diet culture🍠🥬🍕🥑🥪🌮🍳⁣ ⁣ Do you ever check in with your body and ask what you're actually in the mood for?⁣ Do you ever check in to see how hungry you are?⁣ How often do you consider how food makes you feel after you eat it?⁣ Do you ever think about how that food made you feel the last time you ate it?⁣ ⁣ If you answered not really or not very often, try to get a bit more curious about your eating habits. Check in with your body and see what it really needs.⁣ ⁣ For more help tuning in to your body, click the link in my bio to apply for 1-on-1 coaching ❤️ #FeelGoodDietitian

Which side resonates with you? 👈🏼👉🏼⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I used to be left for sure 💯 Especially whenever I tracked my macros, I knew exactly what I "had left" for the day. My “allowance” 🙄 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If I ate "too much" too early in the day, or craved something that was high in carbs or calories, I’d start doing crazy math trying to figure out how to make it fit ➕➗✖️➖⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ "Maybe I only added 1/4 cup of almond milk to my coffee, not 1/3" ⁣⁣ *𝘢𝘥𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺𝘧𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘭"⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ "I probably only had 4 oz of chicken instead of 4.5" ⁣⁣ *𝘢𝘥𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘍𝘗 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Okay cool, now I have "enough"......🥴🤦🏽‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Or other times, I'd bargain with myself. It's only 100 calories over.....but then once I went "over" , my all or nothing mind would tell me I blew it. I had ruined the day so I figured, well I might as well just eat more. (Often times triggering a huge binge) 🧁🍫🍧⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Looking back, that logic is like dropping your cell phone, and then being like, screw it, it fell on the ground, let me stomp all over it📱👞⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ No need to stomp 🤚🏼 We can simply pick it up, dust it off and carry on.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Just like eating a cupcake. We can eat it. Dust the crumbs off our face and carry on 🙂👍🏼🧁⁣ ⁣ If you’re ready to change the way you look at food, click the link in my bio to apply for my group coaching program. Just reposting this one for anyone that may have missed it 🙂 Imagine if we treated the urge to pee the way we treat hunger? It would be ridiculous! There would be a lot of people peeing their 👖😂⁣ ⁣ Hunger tells us when we need to eat, just like the urge to pee tells us we need to urinate 🚽 There's no need to suppress it. There's no need to question it. There's no need to fear it. When Vinny from the jersey shore starts putting out cookbooks on the Keto diet, you really have to question what's happening in the world 🤨🤔⁣(no that image is actually not the book I’m referring to but it exists !) ⁣ Here's a detox that will actually be beneficial to your wellbeing 👍🏼⁣ ⁣ Detox yourself from diet culture✅⁣ ⁣ Unfollow accounts on IG, leave those Facebook groups, unsubscribe from those mailing lists, get rid of those calorie/macro/ fasting tracking diet apps, box up those clothes that make you feel like garbage when you see them and maybe just rip out the pages of those dieting books incase you run out of toilet paper 🧻⁣ ⁣ Anyone have any other "diet culture detox" ideas?👇🏼❤️ #FeelGoodDietitian.

If you want to use this time to clean or cook or learn a language, cool! If you enjoy those home workouts, do em up! But it's perfectly okay if you aren't doing those things right now and are simply doing what you need to do to survive 🙏🏻⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ @iamchrissyking said it perfectly this morning "some people's privilege is really showing. There are people who are out of work and don't know how they are going to pay their bills and eat next week, but the biggest concern of mainstream fitness is gaining quarantine weight"⁣ 😣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ We are all doing the best we can in a very scary time. We don't need to add any additional stress, guilt or shame to the equation ❤️ #FeelGoodDietitian ⁣ ⁣ Group coaching registration open. Click the link in my bio to apply. Hunger and appetite are ✌🏼 different things ⁣ ⁣ Simply put, ⁣ ⁣ ✅HUNGER is a physiological NEED⁣ ⁣ ✅APPETITE is a psychological DESIRE⁣ ⁣ Honoring Your Hunger is the second principle of Intuitive Eating. It's honoring our bodies NEED for food. I think there's often confusion around the phrase "honor your hunger" because people are assuming hunger and appetite are one and the same🙅🏽‍♀️⁣ ⁣ They tend to occur together but there are times when they don’t. ⁣ ⁣ Often times we have an appetite but aren't physiologically hungry. Perhaps when we just ate a large dinner, but someone brings over the dessert menu and the chocolate lava cake is sounding NICEEEEEEE🍫🌋🍰⁣ ⁣ Other times our bodies might be hungry but have no appetite, say for example after we go through a break up or stressful time. Our body needs food, but the stress takes over and we have no desire to eat 👎🏼⁣ ⁣ Confusing I know......😣⁣ ⁣ Intuitive Eating, sometimes can feel...not so intutive because of our modern times, hectic schedules and all of the mixed messaged we've gotten from diet culture throughout our lives. ⁣ ⁣ My 12-week Intutive Eating Group Coaching Program will walk you through the principles of IE step-by-step so you can learn to tune in to your body 🙌🏼⁣ ⁣ You'll learn how to ditch the diet mentality, make peace with food, and find a sustainable and pleasurable style of eating🥳 Registration is now open.Click the link in my bio to apply today and schedule a FREE discovery call. Do you know what’s worse for your health than packaged foods?🤔⁣ ⁣ Worrying about eating packaged food 😰⁣ ⁣ That’s right. Stress and food worry are bad for your health 👎🏼 ⁣ ⁣ If you have high blood pressure, maybe rinse your canned beans and vegetables but there’s no reason to fear them or label them as “bad”⁣ ⁣ Stay safe. Happy Sunday everyone!🙌🏼⁣ ⁣ I've heard so many people stressing about their eating, not being able to exercise and gaining weight during this time😰 Let's put into perspective that this is a GLOBAL HEALTH PANDEMIC. 6 more reasons to pursue food freedom. Can you think of any others? ❤️ #FeelGoodDietitian

You've been lied to👎🏼⁣ ⁣ ❌You've been told you failed⁣ ❌That you didn't have the willpower⁣ ❌That you didn't want it bad enough⁣ ⁣ I'm here to tell you that that's BS 💩!! The reason you can't keep the weight off is not because you aren't motivated or lack self-control. It's because DIETS DONT WORK in the long run❗️❗️⁣ ⁣ You may THINK the diet worked because in the beginning you may have seen some weight loss, but in the long run, the weight (and usually more of it) comes back.⁣ ⁣ "Individuals typically cannot maintain weight loss through restrictive dieting because deprivation ultimately triggers a biological starvation response in which neurological changes render food especially attention-grabbing, difficult to stop thinking about, and more rewarding to consume. Simultaneously, hormonal changes increase feelings of hunger and reduce one’s sense of fullness and metabolic changes allow the body to sustain itself on fewer calories, resulting in greater fat storage" (Mann et. al,. 2016)" 🤜🏼🎤⁣ ⁣ If you are not already familiar with Traci Mann's research, I'd encourage you to do a bit of reading🤓 (especially if you’re going to argue that diets do in fact work)⁣ ⁣ The diet industry wants your money 💵 Period. It is the only industry that sells a product that does not work and then blames the CONSUMER. It's the perfect plan. You think its your fault, so you continue to spend your money on a broken product💔⁣ ⁣ LIES LIES LIES. It's not your fault 📣Diets don't work📣⁣ ⁣ You CAN however change up your eating habits but it usually needs to start with changing your relationship with food. When you address the relationship with food, you can achieve TRUE health 🙌🏼⁣ ⁣ If you are tired of trying diet after diet, and just want to eat without stress, click the link in my bio to apply for coaching ❤️#FeelGoodDietitian⁣

Let's be honest, pasta is always great, but it's especially awesome at a time like this 🙌🏼🍝⁣ ⁣ Not only is pasta shelf stable and inexpensive, but it's a great source of carbohydrates and energy. Which your body needs in order to stay strong and healthy💪🏼 Not to mention it's also DELICIOUS and easy to make✅⁣ ⁣ You may be eating different things than normal right now and that is perfectly okay.💜⁣ ⁣ If you find yourself struggling with your eating or with the inability to hit the gym, that is okay. A lot of emotions may be brought to the surface and we can use what is going on in the world to shine a light on some things have gone unaddressed.⁣ ⁣ If you need some support during this time and are realizing you may need to address your relationship with food and your body, I am here for you. Especially if it means staying safe. Can you find other ways to support yourself in this difficult time? ⁣ ⁣ Maybe stretching or yoga feels good 🧘🏾‍♂️🧘🏽‍♀️Maybe you can go for a walk (depending on where in the world you are).
