Patio transformation for under $350!!!! We just moved in and have 4 incredible outdoor living spaces and I knew this under whelming patio could be amazing! Here were my steps: 1. Painted the stucco with an exterior paint in tricorn black 2. Built a sofa and side table using an old twin mattress and sheet we had, some new wood and some old! 3. Refinished a vintage redwood chaise lounge chair we received from my mother in law (the first time I ever saw it 30 plus years ago it made me think of the 1970s Barbie dream house patio furniture)! 4. Added new pillow covers to existing pillows and placed an inexpensive straw camping mat on the floor! 5. Hung 2 lanterns from @aldiusa 6. Placed a few plants and accessories I already had! . Still to come…. Make the sofa a sectional by recovering an ottoman we already have and bringing the fire pit down here to also serve as a coffee table! . Easy faux wall Temporary solution to hide all of those tubes behind my basement washer and dryer!!! We just moved into another home and the laundry room is down in the basement with exposed ceiling and exposed tubing and wires! Eventually I will place cabinets above the washer and dryer and make the ceiling better but for now, this little faux wall and lots of organization make this space so much better! We are currently using our basement as a laundry room, craft room, gym and living space for teenagers and will finish it out nicely at some point— it even already has plumbing for a full bath! To make the wall, I used inexpensive and light weight backer board, some old peel and stick tiles left over from a bathroom floor at our previous home and some left over peel and stick wallpaper from a furniture makeover! I just hung it from the ceiling and have plenty of room for it not to be touching the tubes behind! I then painted the walls with dry lock paint and then did some heavy organizing of the space— even making a little snack bar for my daughters and their friends!!! . Neglected dresser becomes beautiful again!!! The client found this little dresser on marketplace and thought it would be the perfect fit for her sweet baby girl’s nursery if it just had a little bit of love! So I sanded it down entirely, applied new @minwaxusa provincial stain and layers of polycrlyic for protection! Then I added a sweet girly peel and stick paper in the drawers and those beautiful crystal knobs!!! I love how it turned out! Yesterday vs Today!! Yesterday it had peeling dry rotted veneer and today it has beautifully revealed oak underneath all of those layers of veneer!! I was able to scrape a lot of the veneer off and then I sanded the rest away! Retaining wall is now painted!!!! Last week I painted around my garage doors to make them pop and I knew the huge retaining wall was next! I tackled it this weekend and surprisingly it only took a little over 2 hours! Now onto the patio under the deck— that will happen this week!! I am using exterior defense paint by Sherwin Williams in Tri Corn Black and using a roller made for cement and stucco— it really does a great job getting into the uneven spaces! Phase 1 of our kitchen makeover!!! I love so many parts of our new kitchen- the character, the size, the maple cabinets, the little shelves, the 2 sinks, etc, but there was a lot of brown on brown with cold silver tones! I needed to make these cabinets pop and warm it up a little with some paint and some gold touches— here’s what I did! 1. I painted the shiplap with @behrpaint Heritage Park— my favorite green, to make the cabinets pop! 2. I switched out the silver cabinet pulls with black ones! 3. I removed the fluorescent light above the sink and it’s covering and replaced it with a pretty gold light! 4. I switched out all of the almond outlet plates with brass ones! 5. I painted my big sink faucet gold and replaced the smaller sink faucet with a new gold one since the other faucet was too large for that bar sink(water splashed all over when using it)! 6. I added a few more gold touches to finish off the space! 7. I also updated the pantry door(that was featured in yesterday’s share on my page)! . What’s left? Pantry makeover!!!! . Comment links and I will provide you with links to everything! . Complete with new paint, new “antique glass”, a custom cremone bolt, lots of organization, and new motion sensor light!!! . We have a small pantry in our new home and it had a dated door and was very dark— especially since it is very deep! I have always dreamed of a pantry door with antique glass, but didn’t want to wait to source some, so I had the original idea of using plexi glass! When we saw the prices of plexi glass, I changed my mind and wondered if a fluorescent ceiling light panel would work (only $15) and it worked perfectly! Here’s what we did! 1. Cut the ceiling light panel to fit, removed the slats, adhered the ceiling light panel to a piece of thin paneling and then attached this new panel with a bit of trim! 2. Then I painted the surrounding shiplap the same color as my kitchen! 3. We then installed a French cremone bolt that locks at both the top and the bottom! 4. I then organized the entire pantry by baking, canned items and pasta, sauces and breakfast, and then snacks! 5. Finally, I added these motion sensor lights to make it easy to see into the deep shelves! . I love how it turned out! We will hunt around for some authentic antique glass, but in the meantime, this will work perfectly! . Real time to sand this dresser top—- 7 minutes and 32 seconds thanks to these AMAZING sanding discs from @starbondadhesives ! I have been using their adhesives and epoxy for ages since the glue dries instantly with that accelerator and the epoxy sets up in only 5 minutes! Now they are launching sanding discs and since I literally sand something every single day, I thought I would give them a try! I am so pleased with their durability and longevity! I only used 1 80 grit disc for this dresser top and it still has plenty more grit left to it! They are also so time efficient— which means everything to me and the best part…. No sanding swirls or pigtails left behind on the wood!!! Quick update to make these gorgeous garage doors pop! The brown stucco was not allowing their beauty to be noticed— so just some exterior black paint (@sherwinwilliams Tricorn Black) and now they really stand out! Faded table and chairs updated and more modern for less than $100! The former owners of our new home left this table and chairs set and the chairs are so very comfortable so I decided to update them with some paint, new seat cushions and some pillows!! When moving into our new home this past Thursday we knew we wanted to place the tv over the fireplace to soak in the views of those doors and windows, but those original sconces were blinding when trying to watch tv! Since we wanted to update those anyway, we found these ultra modern ones that cast a very soft glow against the wood wall and now that the tv is officially mounted over the fireplace it all works perfectly! This China cabinet grew tall enough to hold the customer’s coffee table!!! The customer had this China cabinet and wanted it to become her coffee bar, but her coffee maker would not fit under the hutch of it! The original bottom trim of the hutch was removed and then 6 inches of new wood was added, with perfect coordinated curved to the original curves, and then the bottom trim was replaced! After this, both pieces were primed and painted with @rustoleum white primer and @rustoleum heirloom white paint! The top part of the bottom part was sanded and then new @minwaxusa dark walnut stain was added with multiple coats of polycrylic! The original hardware and metal window grids were painted with @rustoleum hammered black and white painted parts were slightly distressed! The finishing touch was adding this black and white peel and stick in the interior! I love that it now can work as a coffee bar, but the overall look of the piece was not affected much! . Last furniture restoration at our home of 20 years!!! Restoration of this drop leaf table! It had 8 layers of paint covering up some gorgeous maple! The client wanted me to get it back to its original wood and stain it a classic stain! So I sanded, planed, and scraped all of the layers of paint from it and then stained it with @minwaxusa early American stain! Then I sealed it with multiple coats of polycrylic and it is now so timeless and gorgeous! I hope no one ever places paint on it again!
