My name is Jess. I’m a travel writer, bookworm, and foodie. I love to combine all three whenever I get the chance.

In 2016 I was given the chance to work on a project in Melbourne for 2 months, all expenses paid. Despite only being married for 2 months, I packed two ridiculously oversized suitcases and booked my flight, alone. Within a day of exploring, I knew I wanted make this diverse, stunning, welcoming country my home. Fast forward to November 2017 and I officially emigrated, this time with hubby in tow, to Sydney from our home in Brixton, London. We haven’t looked back since.

My adopted home is over 10,000 miles away from my childhood beginnings on England’s South Coast, and still manages to be familiar. I wake up to views of all different shades of blue, glistening in sunlight as I move through a protective bubble of air-conditioning – apartment to train to office and back again. I live in thongs, or flip flops for those from the Northern Hemisphere, and I’ve thrown away my winter coats. Weekends are spent hiking, surfing, swimming; my 22 year old self would certainly mock me profusely, hungover and slightly chubby, wallowing in central heating in London.

I’m an English Literature Grad who fell into Technology Consulting by accident. I have dream of seeing my writing in print. I travel to explore, to eat, to learn, and to rest. I travel to meet fascinating people. I eat for pleasure, not for necessity. I read to feed my imagination, to learn from the past and to dream about the future. I rest for myself, taking a break from the pressures of modern living, of being always on.
