Episode 060: An Education of a Lifetime Beyond the States with Jenn Viemont

After reading her newsletter, I knew I wanted her on the podcast to share her knowledge about higher education options in Europe. In our interview, we talk about some of the reasons why an American student would be interested in choosing an international university for their higher education, not just because of the huge savings. Jenn also shared when she thinks is the BEST time for students to begin the process of looking at traveling abroad for their university education. Here’s a hint: she said it’s never too early and never too late, but the best time is around the time when US college students normally begin to look at options.

Arcopedico Galapagos Sandals: My New Favorite Sandals for Travel

One pair of black Skechers Performance sandals for when I have to go out in the rain and don’t want to ruin a pair of good sandals. It’s time to minimize my closet and keep only the shoes I like and wear. A good pair of travel sandals are ideal because you can wear them for lots and lots of walking, they don’t make your feet hot, you can wiggle your toes (yes, that IS important) and some look nice enough to wear on a date night. So instead of spending days walking around Cinderella’s Castle and enjoying a chocolate Eclair in EPCOT’s France pavilion, I’ve been wearing them on long family walks.

Episode 058: How Much Money Do You Need as a Digital Nomad Family

In the US, that will get you a VERY run down trailer or apartment, junk food for groceries to eat, no vehicle (so taking public transportation or walking/biking to work), no eating out, no movies and no money for anything “extra”. If you can make $83 per day for your family of 4, you can live a middle class to upper middle class lifestyle in places like Chapala, Mexico and Medellin, Colombia. In Medellin, Colombia, $624 will get you a NICE furnished 2 bed 1 bath apartment with gym access and heated pool. $20 per month is what a fitness club membership would cost, but in the apartment I found, you could save that money since it included gym access.
