Climbing is a fun activity, but my kids are my purpose. I strive every day to raise them to be good adults. Respectful, honest, caring, and confident. With others and with themselves. I do this by modeling my behavior. I take time away from my kids to do things that make me happy. Climbing, working out, spending time with friends, and building my business. So when I'm with them, I can be present. This wasn't always the case, I used to struggle to find balance, but now in my mid-40, I found it. Being happy and comfortable with who I am, makes me a better parent. Also, a better daughter, friend and anyone else that wants to be around me. My kids are 13 and 15, and while I would love to share current photos of them, they don't really want it. My home climbing area in New York is special to me. I started climbing here in the spring of 1996. We have high humidity, lots of biting insects, rain, and rocks covered in lichen. I've traveled to many other climbing areas around the world and realized there are more desirable destinations (the desert, for example). I consider myself very healthy, but one metric I've been slacking on is doing enough cardio to get my heart rate up. My go-to cardio is taking a Barre class that is designed specifically to do that. I also do a lot of hiking in and out from climbs with a 30-pound pack. This can be good cardio, but I can't always rely on hiking because some approaches are shorter than others.   Wearing a smartwatch helps me visualize and note how I'm doing. Utah🏜.The last time I climbed here was in 2018. I took my son out of school for a week; we flew to salt lake, rented a camper van, and headed to Indian Creek. I love it here, I've been 7 times, but I wasn't sure my son would. It's a specific type of crack climbing that not everyone loves. Fortunately, he liked it. He had crowds cheering him on the base. He was the only 11-year-old there, so he got a lot of attention.
