A blog for people who like, love, or are obsessed with all things whiskey.
I’m not a mixologist but I sure do love a good cocktail. Picked up this VA based @amaroyarroyo and immediately texted my friends asking for Amaro recipes since I had little experience. Um, enter a Black Manhattan 🤤🤤 . Basically replace your Vermouth with some Amaro and bam. What’s another cocktail I should try?? . Also, a little funny surprise on the last photo 😂😂
Had an amazing time last night with some great friends. We do regular blind tasting hosted at a different persons home each month (no, that isn’t actually @oldforester Birthday 🤣 just the decanter) . These blind tastings are so much fun and if you haven’t done one, I highly recommend. Almost always, you are surprised by the reveal of what you’re sipping. Last night was a vertical of @theglenlivet a brand I hadn’t personally had much of but wow was it good! . After the formal tasting, as is customary, we raided the shelves and broke out some other fun bottles. For me, I went with a @springbank1828 Hazelburn 13 Oloroso Cask Matured 🥰 (last photo) and wow, what a way to end the evening!
Im so obsessed with this @forbiddenbourbon 😍 . What’s your favorite decanter design you own? There are so many cool bottle designs out there but this thing sits high on my list. The whiskey inside? Even better. Did a live tasting a couple weeks back and still can’t get over how good this is. @mariannebmd absolutely crushed this release y’all!!
Skip to content Virginia Distillery Company’s base whiskey beautifully marries a 6 year old, Single Malt Whisky from the Highlands of Scotland, and a Single Malt Whisky from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The Brewers Batch 001 is a unique collaboration with Three Notched Brewing Co. where a Wee Heavy beer was aged in the distilleries casks and then given back to finish this Whisky for 12 long months. Oh what a shame… Located in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, these guys take a unique approach to whisky making. Currently, all of the products coming out of this distillery are a single malt whisky made from blending Virginia whisky (distilled on site in VA) and a Scotland Highland whisky.
This beautiful expression of The Balvenie is a great example of their dedication to perfection. When the first 12 year bottle was distilled over 25 years ago, the idea of finishing a whisky, or aging a whisky in more than one barrel was not a popular one. This grown up version of a classic is an amazing way to explore exactly what David Stewart intended!
