Our hearts go out to the thousands and thousands and thousands of people affected by the tragic earthquake that happened yesterday. We were in Turkey not that long ago, and are absolutely devastated to see so many people in Turkey and Syria dealing with so much pain, fear and loss. For those of you around the world, please consider donating (swipe for more info)! Deaths have passed 5,000. Up to 23 million people could be impacted. The WHO says deaths may pass 20,000 amid freezing conditions and building collapses. If you can donate, please donate. If you can spread the word, please spread the word. And if you can send love to those suffering, to those trapped under the rubble, and to those who have a long road of recovery from this horrific tragedy, please send love. Even a donation of $1 is equal to 20₺, so even the smallest donation can help more than you realize.

Have you seen a city like this before? 📍Istanbul, Turkey 🕌 Istanbul blew us away from the second we arrived with @celestyalcruises! Learn more about our full experience on our blog at the link in bio. 🌍 The only city in the world straddling two continents, Istanbul is a place with an incredible rich culture and history dating back over two millennia. ☪️ Istanbul is home to over 3000 mosques, and they are STUNNING to see.

SAVE for a future trip to Turkey! 📍Ephesus, Turkey 🏺Ephesus was one of the most important Greco-Roman cities in Asia Minor, dating back to the 10th century BC. 🏛️Today, Ephesus is home to amazing well-preserved ruins like the stunning Library of Celsus, which was one of the largest libraries of the ancient world. ✝️Ephesus was an important center for early Christianity, and was the home of the apostle Paul for two years. Our trip to Ephesus was included for everyone on our @celestyalcruises Mediterranean cruise. Shoutout to our tour guide for teaching us so much and enriching our travel experience!

📍Santorini, Greece 🇬🇷Santorini is really one of those AMAZING places that lives up to the hype! It was one of the stops on our Mediterranean cruise with @celestyalcruises and it blew our minds. 👀Everywhere you look, there are jaw-dropping views of the famous white buildings and the caldera. ⏱️You’ll have to be disciplined to not stop every 5 minutes to take photos (we stopped every 2 minutes, ourselves 😆) 👍Oia is the most famous spot in Santorini, but you shouldn’t miss walking through the villages in between Fira and Oia, too. ❄️Visiting in the winter means the crowds of the rest of the year are gone but most shops and restaurants are closed. But most importantly, it means you’ll basically have the entire place to yourself!

Don’t miss a visit to this 3500 year old palace in Crete, Greece 🇬🇷 The Palace of Knossos is one of the most important Bronze Age sites of Greece, with a history of over 3500 years! At Knossos, you can see the oldest throne in the world and beautiful frescoes depicting the life of the Minoan people. We visited the Palace of Knossos on a tour included with our cruise with @celestyalcruises and think you shouldn’t miss it! Follow for more travel tips & recommendations ✈️

SAVE for a future trip to Crete! As the largest Greek island, Crete has a glorious bounty of sights to see. We visited Crete during our cruise with @celestyalcruises and had an amazing time on this beautiful island. Here are two things you can’t miss when you visit Crete! 🏰 Stroll by the well-preserved 16th century Koules Fortress at the entrance of Heraklion harbor. The fortress was built by the Venetians to protect their interests in Crete, and you can go inside if you want, but also just enjoy the view from the outside. 🏛️Visit the Palace of Knossos, one of the most important Bronze Age sites of Greece, with a history of over three and a half millennia. At Knossos, you can see the oldest throne in the world and beautiful frescoes depicting the life of the Minoans people.

We had the BEST time on our eastern Mediterranean cruise with @celestyalcruises 😍 🚢We LOVED everything about our cruise with Celestyal —the food, the destinations, the crew, and our outrageously amazing room and balcony, baby!! 🍷All cruises with Celestyal are all-inclusive, which is MIND-BLOWING because the range and quality of food and drinks you get to treat yourself to is crazy. And there are some included tours, too 🙌🏽 🇬🇷Cruising Greece and Turkey with Celestyal was an unforgettable way to experience some of the best that the eastern Mediterranean has to offer, and we can’t wait to share with you more from our experience. Stay tuned to our stories for daily updates 😉

📍Acropolis of Athens 🏛As someone with a lifelong passion for archaeology mythology, and history, coming to the Parthenon was definitely a bucket list moment for me! 🌆Visiting the Acropolis, it’s amazing to see how it’s still at the center of the modern city of Athens, just as it’s been for over two and a half millennia. ❄️The fact that we came in winter meant that it was less busy than peak season, so we got to have some private moments to capture snapshots like this.

Pretty sure the best way to discover Athens is through your taste buds 👅 We took a deep dive into Athens’ culinary heart in the Plaka neighborhood on a food tour with @culinarybackstreets, and our stomachs had the BEST. DAY. EVER. Our guide extraordinaire, Constantine, a ray of sunshine and charm just oozing fascinating information at every turn, showed us the ins and outs of Athens cuisine in a way that was truly illuminating. We explored Plaka, a neighborhood at the foot of the Acropolis, and Athens’ best-preserved traditional neighborhood. Plaka is also home to some delicious local eats that are diamonds in the rough in this busy tourist area, and man did we get shown the ropes! A good guide gives you insight into much more than just the food — and thanks to our AMAZING guide Constantine, we were able to learn a plentiful bounty about the history and culture of the local neighborhood, all while downing good eat after good eat. Culinary Backstreets does a darn good job with their Athens tour, and we can confidently recommend it with 4 giant thumbs up (2 from each of us 😆) 👍🏽👍🏽👍👍 Thanks to Culinary Backstreets for having us out! Would do it again in a heartbeat!

SAVE this for some of the best Mykonos-inspired seafood in the heart of Athens 🐟@aiolou68 was founded by three friends who wanted to serve quality seafood in a warm, bright space that recalls the spirit of the Greek islands. 🦐We treated our tastebuds by trying some of the FRESH and DELICIOUS seafood that Greece is known for 🐙 Aiolou68 is a great place to try local Greek seafood, including fried squid, grilled octopus, fava, and seafood salads. 🍝The standout linguini al mare was so absolutely LOADED with seafood, we couldn’t believe our eyes!

Touchdown in Athens, Greece! We shuffled right over to @blendhotelathens to begin our Athens journey, and realized we have FOUND OUR PEOPLE. Blend Hotel is fun, friendly, and placed perfectly in Athens to be able to walk to the best sites in the city, like the Acropolis and Plaka neighborhood. A yummy breakfast was included every morning at their onsite @folkathens with eggs made to order, coffee as you like it, fresh-squeezed orange juice, yogurt with the best granola EVER, fruit and pastries. We also had a dinner at Folk and were drooling the entire time through the eclectic menu. From the caramelized onion parpadelle to the Indian chicken tikka bowl, the flavors were tickling our tongues with deliciousness. With its fabulous location, sleek aesthetic, adorable restaurant, and TRULY top notch hospitality, Blend Hotel blew us away and firmly planted itself on our list of the best places to stay in Athens, Greece. We loved it so much, we wrote a whole blog post reviewing it—check it out at the link in bio!

📍Dwejra Inland Sea 🇲🇹Dwejra Bay, also known as the Dwejra Inland Sea, is a stunning crystal-clear saltwater lagoon on Gozo’s west coast. 🌊Dwejra Bay is connected to the sea by a tunnel and arch through the cliff above that’s over 80 meters long. 🤿The Inland Sea is a popular spot for diving and swimming in the sparkling, sheltered water, and you can even swim and dive through the tunnel itself! 🚪The tiny hamlet of Dwejra has a few cute colorful doors that we loved 🥰 🚶We walked up a hill on the south side of the bay to get a unique viewpoint. You can also walk directly above the arch itself to get another amazing view of the lagoon. 🛥You can take an affordable boat trip (around 4 euros) through the tunnel from the local boatmen you’ll find at Dwejra Bay.

The Citadella of Victoria, Gozo has been a fortified citadel since the days of prehistory—but the walls that stand now have been there since the 15th century! The entrance to the citadella itself is FREEEEE, and you only have to pay to enter certain museums. In the citadella, you’ll find a little shop that sells Maltese lace. Malta and Gozo are famous for their beautiful traditional styles of lace, dating back to the 16th century. The citadella has INCREDIBLE views of the ocean and most of the island of Gozo. You can walk around the walls on the entire perimeter of the citadella and check out the 360 degree panorama. ✈️ Check it out & follow for more travel tips! ✈️

📍Valletta, Malta 🇲🇹The narrow old streets of Malta’s historic capital are so amazingly beautiful that you’ll be tempted to stop literally everywhere! 👁Whether it’s the antique stone architecture or the traditional Maltese balconies, there are many reasons Valletta’s one of our favorite cities we have visited.

📍Xlendi, Gozo 🏘Xlendi is a popular bayside town in southwest Gozo, Malta. 🚶Exploring the backstreets of Xlendi, we just had to take photos of these colorful buildings and doors — just too picture perfect to resist!
