The Box by Dr. Ava This Heroes Limited Edition Box was sent to me complementary in exchange for my review and sharing it with all of you!  Overview of The Box by Dr. Ava:   A quarterly box featuring dermatologist-curated skincare and treatments. The boxes cost $250 a quarter or $150 a quarter if you prepay for a full year, so I would definitely consider this a luxury box.  This particular box features over $900 worth of products and treatments!
 Product Featured:
Tizo3 Primer/Sunscreen Tinted SPF40 PA+++: This tinted mineral sunscreen doubles as a foundation primer. It plays well with makeup, is coral reef safe, and fragrance free! Straight out of the tube, it is a medium shade that is much deeper than my skin tone, but it blends in and disappears effortlessly into the skin. It minimizes the appearance of the texture of the skin. My one complaint about this SPF so far is that it leaves the faint feeling of having makeup on your skin. It’s very mild, but I probably won’t be reaching for this SPF so much on bare skin days.  Under Skin Revitalizing Precious Elixir Infusion Diamond: This serum hydrates and restores, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Everything about this product feels bougie- from the diamond powder it contains to the impeccable packaging featuring a nice button dispenser and a little window through which you can admire the serum in all of its glittery glory. It is a bit sparkly, which does show on the skin at first, but the sparkle disappears as I apply my other products, so it doesn’t leave behind a glittery look. It easily absorbs into the skin and has a luxurious velvety feel when spread. I wish this product didn’t have fragrance in it, but the fragrance isn’t very strong and I don’t even notice it.  truSculpt flex session: truSculpt flex is an electrical muscle-stimulating treatment that can target specific muscle groups for muscle shape and tone. It simulates workouts by replicating the associated muscle contractions. I haven’t redeemed my session yet because of COVID-19, but I will be sure to share my experience and results when I do! #theboxbydrava

Today I will be sharing some first impressions style reviews of these goodies sent over to me complementary from Stylevana for review. Fragrances products marked with 🌹for convenience. Laneige Multi Deep-Clean Cleanser🌹: I love that this cleanser doubles as a gentle exfoliant! With my dry skin, I find when I use too much of this, I am left with a bit of the squeaky clean feeling, which I am not a huge fan of, so I am careful to use the appropriate amount. When I don’t use too much, my skin is left feeling clean without any unnecessary stripping. SOME BY MI Super Matcha Pore Tightening Toner 🌹: This toner smells like sweet green tea, which I really enjoy. It teleports me to the spa every time I get a good whiff of it. I find this toner is almost a hint on the astringent side, so I am sure to make sure the rest of my routine provides plenty of hydration when I use it to compensate. While this toner is exfoliating, I find it to be super gentle and non-irritating! I haven’t been using it long enough to notice a reduction in the appearance of my pores, but I will be sure to keep you all updated on that! make p:rem Radiance Boosting C-Capsule Serum: This might be the most dry, sensitive skin friendly Vitamin C serum I have tried yet! It is really gentle and non-irritating and also provides some great hydration. It leaves my skin looking radiant and glowing. I haven’t been using this one long enough to see its effect on dark spots yet, but I will keep you posted on that. iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Serum: This serum may be my favorite of all of these goodies! With 67% tea tree leaf water and 19.5% Centella Asiatica leaf water, this serum is a soothing, calming, and hydrating powerhouse! It absorbs easily into the skin and has a non-sticky finish, which I love. I have found myself reaching for it morning and night ever since I started testing it. I can definitely see why this serum is raved about so much. Also, Stylevana has given me a discount to share with you! Review: bareMinerals Original Liquid Mineral Foundation I was sent this product complimentary for review in an Influenster VoxBox. Before I get to the product itself, let’s talk about the shade range. There are 26 shades in total. Their shade range isn’t the worst, but I still find myself a bit disappointed with their offerings at the extremes- for both fairer and darker skin tones. I would love to see them fill out this shade range a bit more, especially in regards to deeper skin tones. Ingredient highlights: - Squalane - Peptide - Prickly Pear Extract - Titanium Dioxide 2.49% for sun protection I have really struggled to find foundations that work for me since my skin has become so dry. I find that most either cling to my dry patches immediately upon application or throughout the day settle around them in a way that just draws attention to them. This foundation, however, applies really well to my dry skin and provides nice, even coverage without clinging to dry patches and other imperfections. It wears well during the day as well, maintaining a nice, even coverage even around my driest areas. It is slightly moisturizing with a natural satin finish that leaves my skin with a subtle, dewy glow. It claims to be buildable but I find that it dries down pretty quickly, so when I try to go back in with another layer, the first just gets picked right up again. This isn’t the end of the world, but because I don’t find it to be particularly buildable, I would consider this foundation as light to medium coverage. Pictured is shade “Fair Ivory 02”, which I selected online and it didn’t end up being the best color match- it’s a bit too orangey for me, and I think Golden Fair 04 probably would have been a better fit. I thought the shade was way off but I was surprised by how well it ended up working for me. I have tried applying this with a beauty blender, brush, and just my fingers and I found a damp beauty blender provided the best application- with my fingers or a brush it ended up a bit streaky. What’s your favorite foundation? Let me know in the comments! #IAmAnOriginal #barebeauties #contest #complimentary @bareminerals @influenster

Secret Key Starting Treatment Rose Edition Line: Final Thoughts* Overall, this line has been a really enjoyable addition to my routine! All of these products pleasantly surprised me and exceeded my expectations. Full reviews of each of these products can be found in my feed. Packaging: The packaging of the essence and eye cream is stunning! I love the pink chrome lids one the containers and the metallic touches to the packaging. The glass bottle of the essence feels heavy in the hand and luxurious. As for the sheet masks- I find the packaging attractive, but I am not a fan of individually packaged sheet masks in general due to the extra waste. Consistency and Feel: I really enjoy the consistency and feel of the essence and eye cream- they are both easily absorbed, leave the skin hydrated, lightly fragranced, and are non-sticky. However, the sheet masks are heavily fragranced (to the point of making my eyes water on initial application) and leave a slight sticky residue behind. Efficacy: All three of these products have done exactly what I was hoping they would, so I have no complaints about their effectiveness! The essence has brightened my skin, provided some extra hydration, and helped the absorption of the rest of my products. The eye cream has effectively hydrated and awakened my eye area, subtly reducing the appearance of fine lines and dark circles. The sheet masks have nourished and hydrated my skin, leaving it looking plump and brightened. If you made it this far, thank you for reading! Let me know how your week is going so far in the comments! *Products featured won in a giveaway.

Review: COSRX Hydrium Watery Toner Cruelty Free Fragrance Free Ingredient Highlights: Glycerin Allantoin Panthenol Sodium Hyaluronate Hyaluronic Acid The “watery toner” name is very fitting for the texture of this product- it is very light and watery. It absorbs into the skin effortlessly and leaves a hydrated canvas for the rest of your skincare routine. In addition to the hydration it provides, this toner is also quite soothing and non-irritating. This isn’t a toner I reach for every day. Most of the time, I like to use a toner with some added benefits- brightening, exfoliating, etc. However, I have loved having this on hand to use when my skin feels like it needs some extra hydration between steps or when my skin is feeling irritated and I want to keep my routine simple. For example, if I use a product that’s slightly drying, I like to immediately follow up with this to restore hydration to the skin without any potential irritation. Price Point: $34.60 USD - $14 US for 150 mL, depending on retailer (retailers tagged in image) Repurchase? Right now I have quite a few toners lined up to test out, so I won’t be repurchasing any toners in the immediate future. On most days, I like to use a less simple toner with some additional benefits, so this product isn’t one that I consistently use and reach for. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy simple hydrating and calming toners, but I don’t know that I will be repurchasing this one in the near future myself, just because I prefer to use toners that offer a bit more. What do you look for in a toner?

Review: Secret Key Starting Treatment Essential Mask Sheet Rose Edition Part three of my Secret Key Starting Treatment Rose Edition of reviews featuring products won in @jennywlove ’s giveaway with StyleKorean. Cruelty Free? I don’t think so, but I couldn’t find any details on this. NOT Fragrance Free! Key Ingredients: Glycerin Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate Bifida Ferment Filtrate First off, this is the most heavily fragranced of the products in the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence line. While I don’t notice the fragrance when using the eye cream or first essence, I certainly notice the rose scent with this sheet mask. I was worried this mask would be irritating to my sensitive because of the strong smell, but I didn’t find that to be the case at all! In fact, I found it quite soothing to the skin. I do find the fragrance seems to make my eyes water a little bit on initial application, but that only lasts a few seconds. I use this immediately after cleansing in the place of a first essence. I particularly enjoy using these sheet masks when I get out of the shower because I tend to take showers on the long and hot side, so by skin can get very dry following them. I find that when I put one of these on fresh out of the shower, it provides my skin the hydration and nourishment it needs and prevents the post-shower dryness from ever setting in. This mask is incredibly moisturizing and nourishing. I love how much extra essence is in there too- I use all of the extra to nourish my neck and decolletage areas. It does leave a hint of stickiness behind, so I usually follow up with a moisturizer on these areas. Price Point: $37 - $15 USD for 10 sheet masks, depending on retailer. Retailers tagged in photo. Repurchase? No. I enjoyed these a lot, but I try to steer clear from sheet masks in general to avoid unnecessary packaging and waste and make a point of not purchasing them. If I bought sheet masks though, I would probably repurchase these. What do you think about sheet masks? Do you use them?

Simple Morning Routine Featuring Gentle Exfoliation Today I’m sharing a more basic morning routine for mornings when my skin is feeling a bit irritated. Key 🎁 = PR/gifted product 📄 = Full review in feed 🌹 = Fragranced product Products Featured Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser: A great, effective, gentle, and non-stripping cleanser. It has a somewhat lotion-y texture that felt bizarre to me at first, but I have grown to enjoy. Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence 🎁📄🌹: I just posted my full review of this last week, but to summarize- I love it! Bellflower Pineapple PHA Peeling Toner 🎁🌹 (only on days when I feel like my skin needs a little exfoliation): Still new to me, so I don’t know its long term effects, but I love how non-irritating it is. It’s my go to when my skin is irritated but could still use a little exfoliation. By Ecom Spot Eraser Ampoule 🎁📄🌹: Incredibly gentle and soothing, so this has been my go to Vitamin C serum for mornings when my skin is feeling irritated. I haven’t used this long enough to see how it performs on dark spots yet, but it gives me the glow that I have come to expect from Vitamin C. It has citrus fruit extracts, so I have marked this product as fragranced, but it is debatable. It has no discernible scent and I actually find it to be quite soothing. iUNIK Black Snail Restore Cream 🎁: This is the first snail mucin product I have tried and I expected it to have a slimy texture, but I was surprised to find it isn’t slimy! It definitely has a bit of extra slip to it. It provides great hydration, but I still usually follow up with the Cerave Moisturizing Cream (not pictured, but still cherished) to lock it in because my skin is so dry! For those with less dry skin types, I imagine this would be a great standalone moisturizer. Bellflower Watermelon Fresh Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ 🎁🌹: This smells strongly of artificial watermelon, but doesn’t smell like sunscreen so I count that as a positive 🤣. It has a slight peachy tone, but effortless disappears into my skin without leaving a tint or white cast. It also has a bit of a smoothing effect that minimizes the appearance of texture, which I love.

Review: Secret Key Starting Treatment Eye Cream Rose Edition Part two of my Secret Key Starting Treatment Rose Edition reviews featuring products won in @jennywlove ’s giveaway with StyleKorean. Cruelty Free? I don’t think so, but I couldn’t find any details on this. NOT Fragrance Free! Key Ingredients: 80% Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate Niacinamide Glycerin Lots of soothing botanical extracts Ceramide 3 I was a bit tentative with this product at first because I was worried the fragrance might irritate my delicate eye area. However, I have been delighted to discover that this eye cream hasn’t been irritating at all! I don’t find the fragrance to be particularly noticeable in this product- there’s a hint of it if you are looking for it, but it is a very gentle sensorial experience. I like the slightly dewy look this eye cream gives me- it helps to conceal darkness under my eyes with a bit of extra light reflection. However, I feel that these effects are only temporary, with no lasting reduction in dark circles. I don’t blame the product for that though, because dark circles are one of the areas that often can’t be “fixed” with products alone. I am satisfied with just the slight camouflaging action that this eye cream provides. This eye cream really effectively hydrates and moisturizes the eye area without leaving behind a heavy feeling on the skin. As a result of all of the moisture, I do think the appearance of my fine lines around my eyes is diminished by this product. The effect seems mostly temporary and disappears when the hydration and moisture have worn off. I also love that this comes with 30 mL- so many eye creams can be quite pricey and only have half as much product! Price Point: $17 - $9 USD for 30 mL, depending on retailer. Repurchase? I don’t think eye cream is a necessity, but I have really enjoyed using this one, and it has such a great price point, too! I have another couple eye care products that are already in my collection or that I have had my eye on trying for some time, so I will go through those first, but I definitely see myself repurchasing this at some point in the future. What’s your opinion on eye creams?

Monday Blues I haven’t shared reviews of any of these other than the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. 🌹 = Fragranced product Products Pictured Cosrx Hydrium Watery Toner: This is a nice hydrating toner. I like using it between steps in my routine when I feel that I could use a little extra hydration. It has some nice soothing benefits too. Eight Saints Night Shift Hydration Gel 🌹: This is a pleasant gel moisturizer. It is a bit more heavily fragranced, which makes this product feel a bit more luxurious. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel 🌹: A great affordable lightweight moisturizer. This would be especially great for oilier skin types. For me, while it packs a great punch of hydration, it just doesn’t provide enough moisturizing for my skin so I always have to use this with a heavier moisturizer layered on top. Azelaic Acid 15% (Prescription): I love azelaic acid- it is such a powerhouse ingredient! This helps manage both my breakouts and rosacea. My only complaint is that it can be a pretty drying ingredient, so I compensate for that in the rest of my routine. Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream: The only one of these I haven’t tried yet, but this little guy is next up. How was your weekend and how are you feeling going into the week?

Review: Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence Rose Edition I won @jennywlove ’s giveaway with StyleKorean and Secret Key back in November and I have been trying the Rose Edition Starting Treatment line ever since! I’m excited to share my first review of these products. Cruelty Free? I wasn’t able to find out if this brand is cruelty free or not. If you happen to know if they are cruelty free, please let me know down below and I will update my review accordingly! NOT Fragrance Free! Key Ingredients: 94% Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate Rosa Centifolia Flower Water Panthenol Adenosine First off, I have to acknowledge that I think the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! I love how it looks and it just feels so luxurious in the hand. While this first essence is fragranced, I didn’t find the fragrance very strong at all- in fact, I hardly noticed it at all. Also, while I sometimes find fragrance irritating in products, I didn’t find this product irritating at all- in fact, I found it had quite a soothing effect on my skin. I have really enjoyed using this first essence and I feel that it has certainly lived up to my expectations! In addition to the hydrating and brightening benefits that I have come to expect from well-rounded Korean toners, I do feel that this essence has also boosted the efficacy of the rest of the products in my routine as well. It might just be wishful thinking, but I feel like this might have reduced the appearance of some of the fine lines that I have seen start to creep in. Price Point: $25 - $36 USD for 150 mL, depending on retailer. Repurchase? I really enjoyed this one and I can definitely see myself repurchasing the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence again! Next time, I might go for the unfragranced version though. Nearing empty with this is bittersweet- I will definitely miss reaching for this. Next up, I’ll be trying the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. I see these two compared a lot so I am looking forward to seeing how similar (or different) they are myself! Have you tried any first essences? If so, let me know your favorites. If not, tell me what first essence you would like to try most!
