I used to binge drink alcohol every weekend and my liver really suffered, which contributed to my crazy hormones. The liver is a huge key player in hormonal health - save and share this list of foods that help support your liver with someone! Cruciferous veggies ⇉ help support detox pathways of the liver and improve liver enzymes. - broccoli - cauliflower - kale - Brussels sprouts - spinach Citrus fruits ⇉ contain the antioxidants naringenin and naringin, which are protective to the liver. - lemon - grapefruit - orange - pomelo - tangerine Berries ⇉ are high in antioxidants, which scavenge free radicals to help maintain the oxidative and anti-oxidative balance in the liver. - blueberries - grapes - cranberries - blackberries - raspberries Dandelion tea ⇉ is rich in vitamins, a good source of antioxidants, protective of the liver, and helps reduce inflammation. Seeds ⇉ are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which help bring down inflammation. - chia seeds - hemp seeds - flaxseed - pumpkin seeds Glutathione-rich foods ⇉ have powerful antioxidant activity, help reduce cell damage, and aid in detoxification. - avocado - asparagus - watermelon - N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) supplement (precursor to glutathione) . . . Daniel and I attended our first wedding together as a married couple yesterday and it was a blessing not only to witness our friends’ union before God, but also to spend time together on a Sunday, which is rare for us! Daniel works a lot of side jobs on top of his full-time work and I often find myself in Bible studies solo…we’re usually away from each other 5-6 days/evenings a week I reckon, and when we are together, we’re sleeping or it’s Sabbath, which can sometimes be even busier (in a restful, special way). But when people say “oh that must be so hard”, I find myself saying “it’s really not!” I love him and he loves me, but we’re individual people who don’t need each other - it’s more of a want. He doesn’t complete me - I’m sure he’d live life just fine without me too, but we choose to do life together because it’s sooooo much better. He’s my best friend, and has been for nearly four years. Spending our days/evenings solo simply means we get to miss each other, and tell stories when Daniel gets home. 🏡 Is this similar (or maybe the opposite?) to how you live life with another human too? 📷: @kahaleeah ☀️ #couplelove #marriedlife #marriagegoals #marriedtomybestfriend #marriagerocks

Contemplating the greater things of life! 😉🌙💫✨ Do you ever take a step back, look at your life, and ask yourself, am I doing what I’m supposed to do? If there’s anything I’ve learned in my years on this planet it’s that what seemed to be the most irrational, illogical decisions at the time were the ones that led me to places and experiences I couldn’t have planned better myself. There’s power in trusting God and following His leading. He knows things that we’ve yet to realize - we just have to give Him a chance to prove He knows best, as scary as that feeels sometimes! God has a special plan for each and every one of us coz we’re all super duper special in our unique ways 😉 you just gotta go and do what He’s called you to do!! 🌸💫✨ Anyway happy Wednesday! Lots of love to you!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼 #christianliving #believer #adventist #followerofchrist #adventistchurch

Meant to post this yesterday but was too busy celebrating! 🐶💦💦 Happy Birthday to my hard-working stud muffin Hawaiian warrior Daniel!! 😋 Crazy, it’s been six years since we met and he still remembers our first conversation and what I was wearing that day! And the one thing that I love more than anything else is his endless love for those who are so quickly rejected by society! There’s something so Christ-like and heartfelt about seeing him minister to our houseless friends, get down on their level and just be there in their world…the way they look back with smiling eyes says it all. So grateful to God for that. 🌈🐒💋 #happybirthdayhusband #husbandbirthday #husbandgoals #husbandsofinstagram #hubbybirthday❤️

Breathing in the great outdoors on these wintery Hawaiian days! 👣🌊🐒🌴❄️ I’ve got quite a few requests for where to eat in Hawai’i!! Sounds like you have trips planned! 😍🌈🏄🏽‍♀️ Here’s a starter list of places to hit to grab some grub and avoid the tourist traps! 1. @juicybrew - local flavors, hearty snacks, vegan bentos on trendy Waialae Ave! 2. @tanevegan - for something a little more “fancy”, they have super good Japanese and vegan sushi options! I’ve never heard a bad review! 3. @downtoearthhi for all sorts of locally made foods and produce! (Also one of the few places on island you can still eat in the outdoor dining areas if you’re unvaccinated, just watch out for the sneaky pigeons/chickens/birds!) 4. @peacecafehawaii - good smoothies, salads, vegan poke bowl, and sandwiches. 5. @olenacafe near Ala Moana Center - mac-nut pesto avocado toast is Daniel’s fav, I like their quinoa salad, and they have a pretty bomb olena bowl too! 6. @wingicecream has lots of vegan ice cream options plus some are even refined-sugar-free! 7. Around the corner from Wing is @rangoon_kitchen - they make Burmese dishes which are usually vegan and so flavorful! 8. @simplejoycuisine has all sorts of lunch and dinner items. 9. @leahihealth - good salads!! 10. @banan for the best nice cream ever… 11. @blondiesfoodtruck is the best vegan food truck in da world!!! 12. Oh yes and of course @vegan_city_hawaii - great sandwiches, gf options, and comfort food!! 13. @mukidogs for vegan hot dogs! 14. @what_it_dough for vegan pizzas! 15. Ah okay one more - @kahumanaorganicfarm - best setting, great food made from locally sourced ingredients! I think you have to preorder meals now though. This should get ya on a good start!! 😂🌴🙌🏼🤤🌈 #hawaiifoodie #oahuhawaii #oahueats #veganhawaii #veganoahu

Okay - this isn’t meant to be some advice or tip. Just honesty and saying “I feel ya”. Because I battled with depression for several years as a teen and young adult, my struggle became so ingrained that it caught me in a vicious cycle where patterns were created. The time in my childhood when I experienced repeated trauma was a super impressionable and moldable season that created certain habits that I had to work hard to break. The difficult thinking patterns and ‘what if’ thoughts were the toughest to break and still resurface on very rare occasion. Counseling with @suz.slade over a decade ago helped me heaps with tools that geared me up to fight battles daily with an understanding of retraining my brain. It only took two sessions, but I had to allow myself to be so vulnerable during those sessions and truly trust in God and confront my demons. I just want to say - I love you, I see you, you’ve got this, and here’s to growth, peace and deep joy in Christ. I’m with you as we battle our flesh and this difficult world. 🙏🏼 #depressionrecovery #christianliving #believer #adventist

Loving being married to Daniel. So here’s a very awkwardly posed photo of us (Daniel was trying to hide the light he was holding to illuminate our faces). ❤️ Enjoy it. #couplelove #marriedlife #honeymooners #kauai #hikingculture

SMALL BUSINESS 🥰 Comment your favorite small businesses! It would be helpful to put your orders in as soon as possible for Christmas. I just shared in my stories one of my favorites @thesummerchaser and you can order from the link in their bio with 15% off using code SISI15 - this isn’t sponsored, I’ve bought from their store and love it! So they shared a code for my friends. 🙂 I also shared a Christmas story highlight with other small biz favorites. 🥰 I wanna hear your favorite shops too! #smallbusinesses #smallbusinesssupport #smallbusinesslove #smallbizsquad #smallbizlove

Intentional living includes respecting yourself; intentionally choosing to say no, understanding your capacity, not running in the ‘rat race’. Intentional living isn’t ‘busy’ living - intentional living is sustainable. Busy can’t be forever (though it does depend on your definition of ‘busy’). I work my butt off (sometimes I feel like I need three of me tbh!) without being stupid about it - I intentionally rest every Sabbath, start my days with God in prayer and Bible study, exercise every day, and take breaks throughout the day to relax my mind. This week, I challenge you to ask yourself if you’re living intentionally. Maybe you need to get off social media for a day, say a respectful “no” to something, or prioritize a task that you’ve put off for ages and is stressing you out. ☀️ If you feel comfortable sharing, and if it helps to hold yourself accountable, comment what you’re doing or not doing. 😊 #intentionalliving #intentional #intentionality #intentionallife #livingwithintention

Purple cheeese!! 💜 Swipe for the recipe! Let’s talk about cheese! 🧀🧀 do you ever catch yourself saying “I can’t live without cheese!”? Cheese is one of the hardest things to give up, but don’t feel bad, there’s a reason. Cheese can act as a mild opiate, aka a drug with morphine-like effects, because it contains casomorphins, which attach to the same brain receptors as heroin and other narcotics. This means that every bite produces a hit of dopamine. Mothers’ milk contains casomorphins as well (it’s found in all dairy products). This is what keeps a baby coming back for more milk as an infant. It’s meant to be ‘addictive’ for that reason. So next time you find yourself feeling like giving up cheese is impossible, it’s not you, it’s the cheese!! 😂🧀 kick that craving to the curb - once it’s out of the system, the cravings will dissipate immensely! The benefits of avoiding cheese will without a doubt outweigh the casomorphin dopamine hit! 😉 xoxo #cheeselover #vegancheese #foodforthought💭 #vegancheesesauce #vegancheeserecipe

I’m just really missin’ this girl and we live oceans apart! She’s one of my favorite humans and I don’t tell her that enough. She’s genuine and empathetic. She’s the first person I seek wisdom from, for everything under the sun - from marriage to ministry, she points out truth when she hears it, and she has spoken up when she’s heard weaknesses in my processing. She’s truly like a sister to me. She’s an incredible friend, wife, disciple - she wears all her hats well. I just love and miss her, and I miss the days when I could just drive to a national park and explore with her. 💛🤟🏼🥰 Thank you God for creating humans who feel so much like “home”. 📷: @jaminbinning #christiansisters #believers #adventist

Aloha, it’s Sisi! Thought it was about time I did a little “aloha, howzit, how ya goin’” post. 😂💛 Get to know me: ⋒ My name is Sisi (I was named after a nickname - if you want to shorten it further you can call me Sis, Si, whatever ya want to call me). ⋒ I’m 34 years old and married to my best friend Daniel - we’ve been together for almost four years and got married three months ago! ⋒ I love to cook and have a blog full of different plant-based recipes! ⋒ I went through an intentional process of healing (body, mind and spirit!) and I share about that here. 😍 ⋒ I LOVE to teach the Bible and God’s health principles, which is how I first came to Hawai’i - I gave health presentations in 2015 (and I also happened to meet Daniel then but we didn’t start dating until 2018). ⋒ I’m the older of two siblings - @brennykong is the younger of us (you’ll have to make your own mind up whether he’s my twin or my brother). ⋒ I would cry tears of joy if you handed me a vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free Anzac biscuit or a vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free Golden Gaytime. ⋒ At 5 years old, I tried to steal a pack of textas (Aussie word for markers) from Woolies (Aussie grocery store chain) and my parents made me feel so bad I never ever tried to steal anything again. ⋒ Daniel and I live in a studio in the mountains and we get to see rainbows all the time (see my last post). They’re a huge encouragement to me so I feel like God put me in a place where I can be reminded of His faithfulness. ⋒ Oh also I’m 5’7” and I feel like it’s always interesting to learn people’s heights, I dunno. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 If you’re here, and you read this…lol good job you faithful and loyal friend! Tell me more about you. 🌴 #gettoknowme #aussieinhawaii #madeinchina #christianwomen #plantbasedvegan

🌈 vulnerable post ahead in honor of World Mental Health Day - I was reading in bed this morning when Daniel messaged me this picture from our porch! Rainbows have been comforting to me for several years now. They’re a reminder of how God’s promises pulled me out of really dark years of depression. I’m so thankful to be in this new chapter of healing where I can look back on and see the faithfulness and kindness of God’s comfort. I’ll be honest, my depressed days were really rough - I was constantly teary and a lot of other things I’d rather not type out and you’d probably never want to read. If I’m not careful, I can very easily slip back into negative thought processes. A lot of my good mental health now has taken intentional work over the years and a constant surrender to God and His health principles. I’m grateful to have my rainbow after the storm! Please send me a rainbow if you ever see one - it honestly is so simple and yet so encouraging for me to see every single time. 🌈🙌🏼💛 #rainbows #mentalhealthrecovery #worldmentalhealthday #depressionhelp #Godspromise

“It is in your hands to make of our world a better one for all.” - Nelson Mandela. Love that quote! 🌴 I also love - “Well done is better than well said.” - Ben Franklin. 🌴 Daniel is a big advocate for leading by action and example. He’s taught me so much in the time we’ve been together, not just by telling me what to do, but by showing me how it’s done. I want to be that kind of leader too! I’m so blessed to be on this lifelong journey, serving and inspiring others to learn more, do more and become more. Thanks for sharing in my journey, encouraging me, and offering advice along the way - so insightful and love learning from each other! 🌙💫✨ Happy Tuesday! 🤙🏼🌈🤙🏼🌈 P.S. I’m posting a recipe reel tomorrow that’s suuuuuuper easy to make! Excited to share, it’s one of my absolute favorite things. 💙 #lifequote #lifequotestoliveby #lifequotestagram #lifequotes4u #lifequotesandsayings #lifequotetoday #lifequotesdaily
