I'm in my final year of university in Exeter studying Management and Marketing.

I've also recently appeared on Channel 4's brand new cooking competition "Cooking Up a Fortune" and have set up blog which is composed of reviews and recipes as well as some travel foodie recommendations.

Also, I particularly love Asian food and cooking and would say I like cooking and eating moderately healthy. I hope to show other students how to eat well on a budget and love finding good restaurant deals or food offers.

📍 @larryspeckham 🥃 Went here for lunch a few weeks ago and now back to try the dinner menu! Without further ado- order breakdown: ▶️ smoked haddock beignets, aioli - yes. yes. yes. Beautifully cooked and banging aioli. Would order again in a heartbeat. ▶️ marinated friarielli peppers 🫑 - the Italian cousin of the Spanish padron pepper. Can’t go wrong! Had a lovely bit of mint in the marinade which was delish. Would order again! ▶️ appreciation for the Larry’s plates. I love them. ▶️ focaccia and olive oil - simplez. delish, fluffy, salty and superb for mopping up dregs of aioli. I enjoyed it ofc but next time I wanna try the pickles as a starter! ▶️ roast pumpkin, tallegio cheese, beurre noisette, pine nuts - AUTUMN ON A PLATE 🍂 sooo warming. Loved the cheesy pumpkin combo? New to me. Crispy cavolo nero made for an excellent crunch. Yes, order again. ▶️ veggie parpadelle - not officially on the dinner menu. We were trying to find a way to veggie-tise the pasta and this was whipped up. Jack said it was banging. ▶️ chicken liver + nduja parpadelle- RIGHT. I’ve never had chicken liver before so I thought I’d take the plunge, because I love nduja a lot. Ngl, I found this VERY rich and quite strong (which must be the liver flavour???). Not the biggest fan of this one HOWEVER, the nduja smokiness came through really well and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente 👌🏽if you’re into more meaty liver flavours, this might be the one for you. ▶️ negroni - jack enjoyed! Again, need to ween myself onto these. ▶️ Larry’s Long Island- delicious, strong and did a good job as a first bev on a Wednesday night. ▶️ La Folle De L’ouest (aka me) - a stunning, natural white wine. @larryspeckham makes me feel like a local when in fact I live an hour west lol and I think that sums up the atmosphere quite nicely. All of the Larry’s team are so friendly and the restaurant gives off such a lovely, retro and intimate vibe 💡 Perfect for a date, a catch up with a friend or a hungover brunch (BLT is banging). Particularly loved the French rap that was playing and the lemongrass incense burning in the loo- it’s the little things. Veggie noodle stir fry using @vegetarianbutcher chicken pieces marinated and cooked in teriyaki sauce !! 🌶 🫑 🍜 noodles will forever be my go-to, super quick dinner. Initially I wanted to use tempeh but couldn’t find any, so when I saw this mock-chicken from Vegetarian Butcher, I knew I had to give it a go 👀 I thought the mock-chicken looked VERY realistic and the texture was quite similar too. However the taste wasn’t there. I marinated and cooked it in teriyaki sauce which made all the difference. Greek feast night w the gorls 🇬🇷 We had a vegan amongst us ( @kind_eating ) so we had a good excuse to try out the new @this.uk “lamb” meatballs. We also did some marinated chicken thighs. Sides included: 💜 @ayepickled red cabbage - SO good 🥒 tzatziki 🥬 lettuce, tomatoes and onions 🥔 herby roasted potatoes The “lamb” balls tasted really good, they were a great substitute and I was really impressed! spiced butternut & sweet potato soup 🍁🍂🥕🍠 rough recipe: 2 onions, diced 4 garlic cloves , minced 1/4 chilli, chopped finely Thumb of ginger, chopped finely 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped into cubes 1 butternut, peeled and chopped into cubes 4 carrots, chopped into chunks Veg stock I free-handed the seasonings but roughly: 1.5 tbsp cumin 1 tbsp paprika 1 tbsp ground coriander 1 tbsp mixed herbs 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp allspice Generous salt and pep 1. Toss pumpkin, sweet potato and carrot in olive oil and spices. 2. Roast in oven for ~40 mins at 180c. 3. Heat olive oil in large pot, add in onions, ginger, chilli and garlic until softened. Can add a few more spices here if you fancy it. 4. Chuck sweet potato, butternut and carrot into pot along with enough vegetable stock to cover all the vegetables. 5. Simmer for a lil longer to ensure everything is cooked (our carrots were stubborn bc they were on a different oven shelf and needed some more time) and then blitz !! My god, everything was so good and the setting was exquisite- all the chandeliers are for sale as Brunswick house doubles up as an antiques shop 👀 🕯 (if you’ve got a spare £25k lying about) Let’s jump straight into the food: 🦐 Fried Torbay Prawns, English Corn, Pickled Jalapeno - £12 - (sharing dish) SO CRISPY. You can eat the whole thing apart from the tail too, because it’s been fried to pure crispiness. Loved the texture on these. Would order again ✅ 🐟 Grilled Petit Bateau Mackerel, Langoustine Vinaigrette - £14 - (main course) Really delicious fish but you have to order a side to go alongside it as it is literally fish on a plate. It was cooked perfectly but I would probs give this one a miss next time as it didn’t wow me completely. 🥩 Raw Dexter Beef, Smoked Bone Marrow & Crispy Shallot -£12 - (sharing dish) OH MY GOD. This was incredible. I’m not usually one to go for raw beef but this was my favourite dish of the night. I picked up flavours of sesame (which I love) and the crispy shallot made for such a great texture contrast. 200% would order again. 💜La Latteria Burrata, Ember-Roast Beetroot, Mint - £11 - (sharing dish) I do love a good burrata dish and this was really lovely. Although I might try something else next time! 🥒Grezzina Courgette Fritters, Coconut Yoghurt, Coriander Salsa - £9 - (sharing dish) Sooooo crispy, so delicious. Great one to share. Yoghurt dip was great too. 🥔 Grilled Potato Bread, Green Garlic Butter - £4 - (sharing/starter dish) Don’t sleep on this. So simple but so good. That green garlic butter is outrageous. Also think it’s my first time trying potato bread lol x doesn’t taste tooo diff to normal bread, Meybs a bit more dense. Would order again. Cocktails: 🍸Southside- £8 a margarita-esque cocktail except it’s made with gin. All the lovely sour lime flavours came through v smoothly. When in doubt, gyoza soup 🥟 I chopped up onion, spring onion, ginger, garlic & chilli earlier this morn and chucked it in a pot with some bouillon and hot water. Let it simmer allll the way until lunchtime. I added a few random spices from @spicemountainuk (mainly the vietnamese phõ one because I love it so much) also added some soy sauce into the mix. We then used @weezy.co.uk to get our hands on some @itsuofficial chicken gyozas, @clarence_court burfod brown eggs and fresh coriander. @obala1936 for dinner last night in Lopud 🍽 ⛵️ V sweet lil restaurant by the sea. Jacks and I shared the grilled octopus for starters which was lovely, could’ve deffo eaten more. I went for the traditional seafood stew, which came with a bib hahahahahha (swipe) delicious and actually filling!! Mobbed up all the juices with some focaccia 👅 Diego had the sea bass which was noice and crispy!! and had the lemon and sugar pancakes for pud. 📍 @restaurantfilippi , korčula Croatia 🇭🇷 Wowowoweeeeewow , absolutely gorgeous food 🍴The sea bass was beautifully crispy and the bisque was delicious too. Presentation 10/10 with the leeks in lil tubes ⭐️ the tuna steak was cooked to perfection and was vvvvv fresh. Loved the chilli jam that came with it too. We also had the Sea bass carpaccio and tuna tartare to start which were both great. I preferred the tuna to the sea bass and liked the thinly sliced fennel too! If you ever find yourself in korčula, you need to visit!
