Hi, I'm Sarah, and I'm your new hype girl. My #1 goal in life is to better people's lives, which is why I became a nurse. A few years ago I fell in love with photographing people and started a professional wedding photography business. Then a few years after that, (this year) I dove in and created a lifestyle blog aimed at supporting women and mental health through the highs and lows of this crazy life. I'm kinda awkward, hilarious (not to toot my own horn but…), and one of the most empathetic woman you will ever meet.
I'm passionate about women's physical and mental health (heyyy hormones), being our honest, most authentic selves, human kindness, and traveling the world solo. You'll also find me posing with every dog I meet, cause who can't resist a cute puppy?
I speak up about the things that matter, and probably best describe myself as a mini Brene Brown mixed with a little Glennon Doyle.
I feel so grateful that you are here and can't wait to see what we create!
You can be both 👏🏼 The first photo was taken last weekend. The second photo was taken 7 months ago after I walked out of the first ever deep brain stimulation surgery at my hospital’s east side campus that I helped out at for a couple of months. I was so proud that day, and so honored to have been a part of expending neurologic restoration surgeries. Girl you can be both, and no one has the right to box you in. #feelgoodfuel #sportsillustrated @si_swimsuit #siswimsearch2021 @si_swimsearch @mj_day @tropicofc #medbikini @siswimradar #registerednurse #brainsurgery #neurosurgery #nerdherdchallenge #nerdherd
The wildfires on the west coast have been breaking my heart. There is no other way to put it. Climate change is very very real. Human beings are wasteful, and our planet is irreplaceable. We get one shot. That’s it. When the trees have burned down, the arctic as melted and risen, hurricanes have knocked out the east coast, and our food sources die because because their environment has become inhabitable to grow in, there is no going back. When I moved into my new apartment, I vowed I would make it eco friendly and sustainable. I got a bidet and pat my 🍑 with washcloths. Everything down from my morning routine to crawling into bed is kind to the earth. I take the trash out once a month. The products I use that go down the drain are eco friendly. There are so many things I do (or don’t do) on a regular basis that are so simple but can make such a difference. Even if you haven’t lived an eco friendly life, you can start now. You can help save the earth. I just started a Youtube channel which will not only feature all things women’s and mental health, but also a home tour and my everyday sustainable home goods that allow me to live this way everyday. Head to the link in my bio to find my Youtube channel and hit the “subscribe” button so you never miss out on my videos. Hoping to go live in the upcoming weeks. Xo- Sarah.
I went way out of the way in a massive park to take these photos. A family happened upon me and this woman had the audacity to tell me there were kids and men around and it was making her uncomfortable. Listen Linda- Absolutely not. it is 2020. There is NO place for your slut shaming here. You being uncomfortable is not our problem. Yes- your husband saw me but if you think that means he is going to leave you then your problem stems way deeper than a stranger wearing a swimsuit. If you’re worried that I influenced your tween daughters, then good. They deserve to be around women who feel free, not be raised under the impression that they should feel ashamed of their bodies and the only reason it exists is to be shown in private. If you believe that female bodies are innately sexual then I don’t know what to tell you. This same body carries me to work during the week to care for patients. This same body holds patients who have been told they have a terminal brain tumor. This same body runs miles. This same body keeps me alive. And yes, I will stick a camera on a tripod in the middle of a park to take photos for *gasp* fun. #feelgoodfuel #sportsillustrated @si_swimsuit #siswimsearch2021 @si_swimsearch @mj_day @tropicofc #medbikini #rn #registerednurse
My two cents on FIG’S awful ad. 🗑 🔥 Hear me when I say this- the culture this ad was cultivated in is patriarchal. This was not “a mistake.” It was an egregious, yet intentional error. You cannot tell me that this wasn’t intentional when there were several people involved in the production of this ad. From the model, to the producer, to the videographer, to the editors, you cannot tell me this was just an uh oh. This was not a Swiss Cheese model where everyone missed it and a mistake happened. Everyone ALLOWED it and that’s the difference. This is a company that claims to support women and women in healthcare and they are over here putting a female DO in pink scrubs holding an upside down “Medical Terminology for Dummies” book. That is not okay. Here we are everyday fighting for equality in healthcare. Fighting stereotypes. It’s exhausting. Yet FIGS had the audacity to create and release an ad that poked fun at every single one of them. I have supported this brand for years and I am withdrawing my support. This wasn’t “one mistake.” This was an ad that involved a team of people who created a culture that would allow something like this to happen, and I will not support a culture like that. FIGS, do better. Women deserve better. Female medical professionals deserve better. Osteopathic doctors deserve better. Onward to another brand that supports and uplifts female medical professionals. Or ya know, some good ol free OR scrubs.
It’s world mental health day, and I have a lot to be grateful for today. This year, more than ever, it’s so important to celebrate all that we’ve gone through. For the first time in 15 years, I am free from my eating disorder and off of anti-depressants (also what a damn year to be off anti-depressants). This is the year I’ve finally decided to say fuck it and own who I am. All of me. The shadow and the light. There is nothing wrong with you for having mental health struggles. Hell, mental illness was my norm for 15 years. I hid in shame and was ridden with anxiety to keep people from figuring out my facade in fear of being unloveable and rejected. There is no better time to own who you are. This is your year to step into the truth of who you are and own ALL of you, and I am here for you. When you own who you are, you become FREE.
