T H E G O B B I N S Europe's most dramatic coastal walk has officially REOPENED! Situated on the North Channel, exploring this path you can expect dramatic vistas, epic wildlife spotting, and views over to Scotland on a clear day, this is a must-do experience in Northern Ireland. Booking your space on the tour is essential. Some changes have been made for additional social distancing measures including, fully-digital ticketing, and limiting groups to 10. A full review of the experience is on our YouTube channel, so head to bit.ly/RRYTsub to watch it ahead of your visit. #iRoamToo #RoamingRequired . . . . . . . . #discoveringireland #ireland #irlanda #visitireland #travelblog #roamtheplanet #justgoshoot #instaphoto #visualambassadors #worldtravlers #digitalphotography #insta_ireland #discoverireland #loves_ireland #irelandtravel #instaireland #wanderireland #northernireland #darkhedges #EmbraceAGiantSpirit #DiscoverNI  #exploremoreoutdoors #socialdistancing #MyGiantAdventure #LoveGreatBritain @tourismireland  @discoverni #northernireland #discovernorthernireland

On this day, 35 years ago, a safety test led to an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power station in Ukraine. The explosion led to a raging reactor core fire that released lethal radiation into the atmosphere across the continent. The nearest city, Pripyat, was home to around 50,000 people, mostly workers and their families at the plant. The city was eventually evacuated along with other communities in a 4,000 sq km zone. Today, you can visit beyond the exclusion zone, explore what is left of the abandoned city that is slowly being reclaimed by nature, and even get into reactor 4. Dark tourism, the exploration of places associated with death and suffering, gets a bad wrap. If your intentions are right, I think the first hand experiences stay with you forever, and provise an education and understanding that no book or TV programme can ever replicate. #Chernobyl #Ukraine #pripyat

LUDLOW Are you ready to plan a UK staycation? Consider Ludlow! This cute medieval market town is situated on the edge of the Shropshire Hills - an AONB, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, makes a great weekend staycation destination. Stroll these moody historic streets, or head to Ludlow Castle an 11th century fortress situated on a cliff above the River Teme. Foodies will love it here, there is an abundance of quality food & drink producers, including a must-go-to cheesemonger, AND there's a food and drink festival in September. #iRoamToo . . . . . @visitshropshire @visitshropshirehills #Ludlow #shropshire #markettown #prettytown #interestingarchitecture #englishtown #listedbuildings #wehaveacastle #visitbritain #capturingbritain #caputuringengland #visitshropshire #england #iglandscapes #ukshots #beautifulengland #beautifulshropshire #discoverengland #visitbritain #staycation #VisitBritain #PhotosOfEngland #VisitEngland #LoveGreatBritain #Escapetheeveryday #Travelgram #BeautifulDestinations #GuardianTravelSnaps #scenicbritain

Hellooooo Spring! I think we can all agree it's been a very long and drawn out winter. But now, the bulbs are beginning to bloom, leaves returning to the trees, and temps are finally getting above 10°C,. Huzzah! Things are most definitely improving (finally!) In case you missed it, London put on a spectacular show over the weekend and I just had to venture out to top up those depleted Vitamin D levels. #iroamtoo. . . . . . #RoamingRequired #StPauls #London #VisitLondon #MilleniumBridge #LPpathfinders #greatbritain #england #londonist #londonbylondoners #timeoutlondon #prettylittlelondon #icelollyloves #travelbloggeres #ourplanetdaily #lifeofadventure #passionpassport #BBCbritain #gloriousbritain #photosofbritain #englandmylove #photosofengland #prettycitylondon #prettylittlelondon #mydarlinglondon #BBCTravel #Beautifuldestinations #Ourplanetdaily #Earthpix

Hack Your Annual Leave in 2021 for More Days Off

Spring is one of the best seasons to travel, because the weather is fantastic across the entire continent and it’s often considered a shoulder season which means better deals on hotels, flights and tours. Somewhat sadly, the UK Bank holidays of May and Easter are quite far apart in 2021 which means you can’t double-dip and have an epic multi bank holiday trip without using most of your annual leave. December means classics of ultra-festive Christmas markets like Nuremberg with the scent of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts in the air, and in parts of Europe there’s flakes of freshly fallen snow flakes floating down from above. Christmas Day (25 December) falls on a Saturday, therefore Boxing Day is on a Sunday, which means the UK and many other places in the world get substitute public holidays on 27 & 28 December.

Discovering Craft Beer in Pilsen

Pick one of many experiences from sampling a perfectly poured Pilsener, tour a world famous brewery, relax in a beer spa, or simply wander the city streets and discover craft beer in Pilsen’s many microbreweries. The Pilsner Urquell brewery is the largest brewery, a landmark for visitors to the city, and one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country. Located on the outskirts of Pilsen in a former 17th century farm, Purkmistr markets itself as a destination with a beer house and brewery, onsite restaurant, a hotel, and a spa and wellness centre. Situated in the heart of Pilsen just a few steps away from the main square, Beer Factory is the largest brewery in Pilsen after the Pilsner Urquell and the only microbrewery within the city limits.

Christmas Gifts for Overseas Friends & Family

While I am generally a fan of useful travel gifts, few things are better received than a hamper with the tastes of home, something related to one’s homeland, or items that your average expat just can’t buy in their adopted home. In Norway, there are certain sweets and items that we just can’t do without, and if you are looking to bring some Norwegian Christmas traditions into your home this year, or you are not able to spend Christmas in Norway like you planned, these are things you cannot miss. If I were to send a care package to a Norwegian abroad, or just send some Norwegian Christmas treats to a friend (which I have), I would make sure to include Freia Melkesjokolade, which is basically just Norwegian chocolate. Send a piece of the Great White North this Christmas with a thoughtful care package including food items such as: Along with these items, the tried-and-true gift would also include maple syrup and maple shortbread cookies.

D A R K H E D G E S Probably the most popular filming location for Game of Thrones, the Dark Hedges is a beautiful avenue of beech trees that was planted by the Stuart family in the 18th Century, intended to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their Georgian mansion, Gracehill House. Almost 250 years since they were planted, the stunning organic tunnel of tree branches crisscrossing the road still impresses all those who visit. Despite the popularity of the Dark Hedges if you time it right, you can have a rare moment with the alley empty and all to yourself. Did You Know? In 2016, this part of Northern Ireland was battered by Storm Gertrude, destroying some of the iconic beech trees on Bregagh Road. The fallen wood was brought back to life in the form of 10 intricately crafted doors, each one depicting moments inspired by the sixth season of this global phenomenon. The doors can be discovered by undertaking the Journey of Doors, a route throughout Northern Ireland. A free passport is available which can be stamped at each location - it makes a great souvenir. #iRoamToo . . . . . #discoveringireland #ireland #irlanda #visitireland #travelblog #roamtheplanet #justgoshoot #instaphoto #visualambassadors #worldtravlers #digitalphotography #insta_ireland #discoverireland #loves_ireland #irelandtravel #instaireland #wanderireland #northernireland #darkhedges #EmbraceAGiantSpirit #DiscoverNI #causewayCoast #GOT #GameofThrones #exploremoreoutdoors #socialdistancing #MyGiantAdventure #LoveGreatBritain @tourismireland @discoverni

Ballygally Castle Hotel, Northern Ireland

The perfect base for exploring the stunning Causeway Coastal Route which is what drew us to Ballygally to begin with, along with short drives to Game of Thrones filming locations, Carrickfergus castle, UNESCO Giant’s Causeway site, and the vertigo-inducing Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. For a truly spooky experience, guests can book one of four recently refurbished Tower rooms which are located in the 17th century castle building, and are located off the stone spiral staircase rising from the original entrance, just below the ghost room. Currently on pause, but sure to return in 2021, is the famous Game of Thrones themed afternoon tea (£24), with a menu inspired by the TV series including rustic Ironborn focaccia, Little Finger sandwiches, Kingslayer cupcakes, and more. Visitors to Northern Ireland to explore Game of Thrones filming locations and discovering the Doors, may like to go all-in for the Game of Thrones rate which includes bed and breakfast, and the aforementioned afternoon tea, dinner for a very reasonable £150.

C R A F T V I L L A G E This is the reason I recommend one to 'take a stroll' when you land in a new destination. Just walk. Pick a direction and walk, and you're sure to stumble a little gem like this one. Dickensian in appearance this is Derry's Craft Village, a cultural reconstruction of an 18th Century street and 19th Century square, it's an eclectic mix of artisan craft shops, balconied apartments, hip restaurants and coffee shops. . . . . . #craftvillage #craftvillagederry #derry #londonderry #freederry #ireland #northernireland #doire #guildhallderry #peacebridgederry #riverfoyle #legenderry #fillyourheartwithireland #visitnorthernireland #littlepiecesofireland #iamtb #daily_ireland #irelandgram #fermanaghlakelands #instafermanagh #plussizetravel #itraveltoo #LoveIreland #YesIreland #best_of_ireland #irish_daily #insta_ireland #discoverireland #loves_ireland

L U S T Y B E G This woodland lake-side island resort has self-catering houses and ensuite rooms, enabling guests to wake up to beautiful water views. It's the perfect place for some time out, read a book on the balcony while the water laps at the shore, take to the water on a kayak or rib boat, or reconnect with nature via the walking and fairy trails. Best of all, slow travellers will love the onsite retreat spa, with these lake-side wood fired barrel tubs with views of Lough Erne. Soaking for an hour was perfect to soothe my weary muscles and of course a glass of Prosecco helped 🥂 too. Infused with unique herbs and calming scents, they're aimed at the ultimate relaxation with tubs big enough for two 😉. #iRoamToo #RoamingRequired

W A L E S Pontcysyllte means 'the bridge that connects' and it does just that. Not just in the obvious physical way but for me it was the reconnection between life as we now know it, and nature. Standing on the footpath and hearing nothing except the roaring waters of the River Dee below was exactly what I needed. Explore the aqueduct however you wish. Walk over it, or navigate the waterway by narrowboat or even SUP if you're feeling brave, but don't miss a stroll beside the river below to marvel at this impressive achievement of the Industrial Revolution. #iRoamToo

A I R Growing up beside the ocean, I'm a water baby at heart. But at the moment, I'm just craving air. Fresh air, and some space. I've found lockdown in London rather confining. I miss my freedom, my independence, and my personal space way more than I thought possible. Unsurprisingly, I am very much on the look out for opportunities to escape the city and reconnect with nature. 🌳 I was reflecting on 2019 and realised how much I enjoyed Italy; cycling through the moutains in Trentino, exploring the farmhouses and farmstays of the Agriturismo scene, and (of course) the food. I freely admit I'm tempted to jump on a plane. I miss travelling. I miss exploring new places, cultures, people and foods. But for now, we're not heading anywhere - though, that might change. We're following Government advice, and watching it closely. I recommend you do too. And please, #WearAMask😷 If you have any socially-distant ideas for me to reclaim my freedom and get some air, drop them below! #iroamtoo

💛 A U S T R A L I A 💚 As the weather warms up in the Northern Hemisphere, the days get longer, and the blue skies look like they're here to stay. Despite that, I can't help but miss the jaw-dropping sunsets at Busselton Jetty in Western Australia. Which, by the way, happens to be the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere - an impressive 1,841m into the ocean. What are you missing the most while in lockdown? ⇻ #iRoamToo #RoamingRequired ⇺

I T A L Y With the UK update on lockdown restrictions, I had hoped today I could post a picture with fantastic news, something along the lines of "we're free!"... but alas, that's not the case. If anything, the advice is more confusing than it was before today. All I can say is 'soon'. Soon we will life our lives again, Vivi la vita. ● This is Ghirlandina Tower in Modena. The undisputed symbol of the town for nearly one thousand years, although what we see today was finished in 1588. It rises 86m over the terracotta roofs of the city of Modena. Although it feels a lot more than 86m as you climb the dizzying staircase climbs of 498 steps to the top. The light stone covering the Ghirlandina make it rich and bright, shielding the two tonne bells that reside on the top floortolling on the hour every day. I miss you Italy. I miss your flavours, the smells and your people. Arrivederci a presto. ● #iRoamToo
