How many of these did you know about Costa Rica? When it comes to #1, most of the world doesn’t flush their toilet paper. The US is actually rare in that they do! Why is this the case in Costa Rica? Most properties have septic tanks that collect all the house grey and black water. Grease + TP = a giant clog in the system that has to be removed manually. It involves a lot of labor that NOBODY wants to do. Next time you think it’s gross…. Imagine being shoulder deep in someone else’s waste 💩 not so gross now, is it? 😂😂 Van life prepared us for this as we don’t flush any TP down our toilets for similar reasons. Did you know it’s illegal to feed capuchins food in Costa Rica?? 🐒 Here are some other fun facts about these cuties: •they travel in groups of about 30-35, so if you see one, you’ll find more! •their prehensile tail is critical for their movement and is often used as the weight bearing point when they’re in trees •they drink water by dipping their tails in the river and running away to suck out the water so they don’t get eaten by predators •there’s no breeding season, which means you can see babies all year long •they are naturally curious, smart, and active •they’re always on the move and travel up to 2 miles a day looking for food We saw this guy on the Sierpe River cruise! It’s abundant with wildlife in their natural state, and we couldn’t recommend it enough!
