I'm Brooks! The owner & operator of Our Parent Place - a parenting and mental health resource. I've been blogging for over two years and have been blessed to be collaborating with some amazing brands during that time. My goal is to help every mom to live her best life, and I do that by offering marriage advice, mental health tips, self care hacks, parenting information, and product recommendations. If you think your product might help my audience (primarily moms between 25-34) then I'd love to work together!

{ magical } One of my favorite things about this toddler stage is the sense of ✨wonder✨. There is something so pure and magical about going outside and watching the ants carry our crumbs into their home. (We watched for 45 minutes!!) Without my son, I know I wouldn't be crouched down staring at insects. I wouldn't see the wonder and amazement of it all. But when you have a toddler (and only one kiddo), you slow wayyy down. You watch leaves fall. You watch rivers flow. You name the phase of the moon. You draw in the dirt. Toddlers seriously know what life is supposed to be all about. If only we'd listen.

Women's Wellness

I’m the first person to advocate for self care and the last person to actually care for myself. Self care is all about doing what makes you feel good. BOTA Skincare helps me feel awesome by providing naturally derived products enhanced with CBD. I know that not all women love to write, but for me, journaling definitely helps on my path to wellness.

{ random fact about you } In the comments I wanna hear a random fact about YOU. Here's mine: I 💕 LOVE 💕 old, abandoned things. If it's rusty, deserted, and broken, I'm all for it. I once convinced my family to do a ghost town road trip. I did all the prep work. Found all the places I could that weren't too far and made sense to go see. We set out and had so much fun exploring. I'm not sure what it is about the ruin - lost opportunity? Squandered potential? Hopeless disarray? The unknown? - but I absolutely love it. Now tell me about YOU! It can be anything at all!

Final Thoughts on Always Eat After 7PM

I’ve had the chance to finish reading Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet learn exactly which foods to eat and when, in order to achieve your weight-loss goals. For example, if you focus on losing 20 pounds, you might, but how long will you actually keep those 20 pounds “lost”? and once you achieve the outcome of losing 20 pounds, you have no real motivation to continue making healthy choices.

{ this is motherhood } Where showering means having bath toys thrown in with you. Where peeing means having a very involved audience. Where each simple task becomes an hour long affair. Where "exhaustion" doesn't even begin to cover it. Where there isn't enough coffee in the world. Where you'd do anything for an hour alone to just BE. Where you're on duty ALL. THE. TIME. No breaks. Where you lose sight of who you are in all this mess. And where you wouldn't change it for the entire WORLD. 💕💕💕 This is motherhood. And we're rocking it, friends. 💪

Always Eat After 7PM Update

While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion, I knew I wanted more energy and to physically feel better. Marion includes so much science to back up his claims, which is something I like in a book that proposes a lot of “rule breaking”. We’ve been taught (especially recently) to avoid carbs, eat an early dinner and then not again till breakfast, and never eat snacks before bed. Despite all the bad press over the years, certain carbohydrates play an important role in balancing your hormones and regulating your metabolic rate, while avoiding the dreaded weight loss plateaus that accompany conventional mainstream diets.

{ what's the craziest thing you've done to make your kid laugh? } So. On this day, my son asked me if I could put his hair up (like the song Hair Up from @dreamworks @trolls). I gave him a lil mohawk and then he said: "Mama... You hair up?" Well, my hair goes to my butt, so... The only logical way to do this was to put a cup in my hair which still didn't give me the Queen Poppy vibe I was going for but 🤷‍♀️ What's the silliest thing you've done with/for your kiddo lately? Tell me in the comments! ⤵️ (PS seriously tell me I'm not the only person who gives up their dignity on the reg to impress their tiny tyrant?!)

Always Eat After 7 PM Author Interview

I was able to get a few answers out of Joel Marion, the author of Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance. This book solves both these problems by providing an evidence-based, enjoyable approach to dieting that can be used by any person to quickly achieve their weight loss goals. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry.

{ the ultimate play substance } If you didn't know, gelatin is one of my fave play activities. ✔️ It takes literally three minutes to make. . ✔️ You can squeeze three uses out of it with each batch (YEP, I'll tell ya). . ✔️ And it's fairly affordable. I first learned about gelatin from @mothercould. It was such a doable idea, I just had to try it. 1️⃣ The first use is easy (and I posted about it a few rows down): make gelatin and put creatures inside. Let it firm up, then rescue them! 2️⃣ Upon skimming comments, I found out that Myriam typically uses the mushed up, dug through gelatin as another play activity. Leave it in the same container (I add a bit of water) and you've got a whole new thanggg. Instead of firm gelatin, you've got smooshy globs. 3️⃣ After making it a few times I wondered... Will gelatin freeze? After all, freezing makes everything better. So our critters went into ice cube trays filled with gelatin and a bit of water. The next morning we had ANOTHER gelatin play activity. We now do this each time!! We've done this inside and outside. Mess level probably depends on the kid, but for my 3.5 year old it's usually minimal. Seriously: why haven't you tried this yet? Go, go, go!!! Save it for reference so you remember to do it 😅

{ top class actions } Have you heard of @topclassactions? I recently found out that there is a class action lawsuit going on and if you purchased this product, you could be eligible. If you bought U by Kotex tampons between March 8, 2013 and Nov. 19, 2019, you're likely eligible for some easy money. Top Class Actions connects consumers (us) to settlements (like this one). It's super easy to sign up - takes maybe a minute. If you don't have any proof of purchase, you can still receive up to $30. And if you DO have proof of purchase, you can qualify for even more! The link is in my bio and stories. Ladies - if you used this brand between that time period, I urge you to sign up!! You definitely deserve some compensation ❤️
