This is NOT @gzicherm’s recipe but I found one in case you wanted to make it! 🤤 Total Time: 30 Minutes, plus 45 minutes to chill INGREDIENTS * 4-5 lightly salted matzos * 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter * 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar * 1 (12-ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips * 1 heaping cup chopped pecans or any topping * ½ teaspoon sea salt flakes or kosher salt * Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with heavy duty aluminum foil, making sure the foil goes up and over the edges, and top with a sheet of parchment paper. * Cover the baking sheet with the matzos, cutting and piecing them together as necessary to fill the entire pan. * Make the toffee: Combine butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk, until the mixture comes to a boil. (If it looks like it’s separating, just keep stirring; it will come together.) Once the mixture comes to a boil, continue cooking and stirring for another 3 minutes until foamy and thickened. (Be extra careful — the toffee will be very hot!) Immediately pour the toffee over the matzos and, using a spatula, spread into an even layer. * Put the pan into the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the toffee topping is crackled and bubbling all over. Remove the pan from the oven and place on wire cooling rack on the counter. Immediately scatter the chocolate chips evenly over top. Wait 3 to 5 minutes for the chips to soften, then use an offset spatula to spread the chocolate into an even layer. Sprinkle with the pecans and sea salt. Refrigerate until the chocolate is firm, about 45 minutes. Don’t leave it in the fridge too much longer, otherwise it will be hard to cut. * Lift the foil overhang to transfer the matzo crack onto a large cutting board. Using a large sharp knife, cut into 2-inch squares. Store in an airtight container in the fridge and serve cold. There you have it! Let me know if you’ve ever tried this deliciousness before!! It’s a crowd fav! Chag Sameach!!!
My bro is ⭐️home⭐️!! He came home very late Wednesday night and we’ve been non-stop ever since. Whenever @gzicherm comes home, the whole family goes crazy with excitement because he’s literally the absolute best. We have the MOST fun together eating, laughing, chilling and just hanging out. The kids are ready to cook + bake with him in advance of Passover! Stay tuned for all the fun to go down!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Side effects are so much fun! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Especially ones that affect all your senses. Yay! (Can you tell I’m being super facetious?!) 😜 I had to make my mom laugh with the pregnancy sign. I asked in a very serious voice (in front of the dentist): “Mom, before this amazing dentist starts, he needs to know….are you sure you’re not pregnant?” 🤰 She laughed hard. So did everyone in the room. That’s my goal, to continue to make her “forget” about everything she’s going through. She has sooooo many appointments coming up, you should see my calendar. Happy Friday, friends.
Cancer. It doesn’t discriminate. Here’s hoping the treatments work for her so she can continue to be a mum to her kids. Praying for all of us in the thick of cancer (pre, during and post). 🙏
CPR certified… So let’s practice on our brother. 😜😜
Last week @sepsiscanada reached out to arrange for an interview with @ctvnews about Benny’s scary experience and ultimate health journey back in 2016. Benny had undiagnosed Group A Strep that quickly turned into Sepsis and we almost lost him. Days and nights in hospital (multiple surgeries) and months and months of learning to walk again, it was the HARDEST time of our lives. Today, Benny is thriving and living his best life. We did this video for awareness purposes and to help you identify the signs in your child! For Benny: 😱he had high fever 😱he couldn’t walk 😱very very upset (inconsolable) 😱big red bump appeared on his left foot bone (that was a clear indication of infection). Every child is different but trust your gut, mamas. If your child has a fever (which isn’t breaking with meds) and pain, it doesn’t hurt to see your GP or medical practitioner. Thanks again to the amazing Pauline Chan for interviewing Benny and us. We hope our story can help someone else. ❤️ #sepsissurvivor #oursurvivor #groupastrep #survivingandthriving #ctvnewstoronto
Chemo, radiation… The two words no one wants to hear. Cancer treatments are rough, tough and something as a family member, you don’t want to ever have to see someone you love experience. The problem is once the chemo and radiation stop, you try to *heal* but the healing can be sooooo bad that so many other interventions are needed. Today, my mom had visit after visit (in dental, ENT’s and lab). Nothing new to report except that she continues to experience daily pain and discomfort and just wants to feel better so badly! As her daughter, it’s hard to see her like this. She was always my vivacious, bold and strong mom. Today, she gets tired quickly, and has pain and issues with all her senses. I don’t know what her health future holds but I just continue to hope and pray that she’ll one day be free of all this crap. Sending you all so much love (especially those of you who are currently or have experience dealing with your own cancer or that of a loved one). IT SUCKS. I’m here for you. ❤️
Back from 24 kid free hours and… It was ⭐️magic ⭐️ We both needed this getaway. We ventured off to our fav hotel in all of Buffalo, @reikarthouse for another incredible stay. The rooms are so gorgeous, super comfy beds, delicious food and great great service. They really care about their guests!!! [hosted experience] We then had such a beautiful (and dare I say, romantic) 🥰 dinner at @russellssteaks. It was our first time and I guarantee you, we’ll be back!!! We ordered so many delicious dinners. You must try the French onion soup, my lamb chops were beyond terrific and don’t get me started on that lobster mac n cheese. 😋 We did a TON of shopping. I bought out every box of @allgoodles from @target 🤣🤣. Also grabbed some @chipwich for good measure!! Most of all, we spent quality time together. I took a 24 hour social break and it felt awesome. I’m back now and rejuvenated. 😍 Happy long weekend, friends!! What are you up to? What have you done? 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
💇♀️ I feel like a new person. Thanks to the incredible @nezia77 for her talent and pure laughs today. I love her soooo much! Find her @curlyhairinstitute. What do we think of my new look? 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
RANT: I’m a grandchild of holocaust survivors, 6 million others weren’t that lucky... ✡️Just because they were Jewish. My grandparents were forced into work camps under horrific conditions. ✡️Just because they were Jewish. As children they were beaten and brutalized while using their tiny fingers to make and detonate bombs. 💣 ✡️Just because they were Jewish. The details were etched into their minds just like the numbers tattooed on their tiny arms. ✡️Just because they were Jewish. They had 1 tiny piece of bread a day (if that) that they SHARED with others and black water to drink. They were starving, sick and dying. ✡️Just because they were Jewish. Once they were liberated 77 years ago in Auschwitz-Birkenau, my grandparents were faced with NEW health challenges including Typhoid Fever (among other major things) as a result of the lack of food, santization practices and all around in-humane “living” they experienced. ✡️Just because they were Jewish. I will NEVER forget the atrocities committed and vow to continue to SHARE with my kids, friends and followers so that IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. #WeRemember #Auschwitz77 #NeverAgain
