Just keep swimming...Just keep swimming 🐠🐟🐡 ⠀ Rolling with the punches this week 😅 Anyone else?! Evening cooking time has become limited so I’ve been leaning into meal prep/IP/crock pot meals during the week and “scratch cooking” on the weekend. ⠀ Add this to the list of MUST MAKE if you haven’t tried it yet! Sweet and Sour Tofu by @jessicainthekitchen . It is hands down one of the best recipes I’ve tried on this new journey and my husband would agree. It was very simple and didn’t have any special ingredients! Definitely the best way to make tofu that I’ve tried. And if you didn’t see my stories about my tofu press, check it out in my highlights. 10/10 recommend!! ⠀ **peep the puppy eyes who wanted some of her own 🐶😆**
Back to work week, plus some other craziness going on, means easy meals! ⠀ Fun fact about me: I love soup. Like all kinds. It drives my husband crazy because his love is not as strong. However, because I get to make all decisions with meals this week, I wanted all of the soups 😏 ⠀ I made this taco soup by @thegirlonbloor in the instant pot the other night and it did not disappoint. Used @eatbanza chickpea shells and added a bit more chili seasoning because I like things spicy 😋
Here’s your mid-Monday reminder to go refill that water bottle and drink another! ⠀ Returned to work today and man, am I rusty 🥴. Looking forward to making it out the door in the morning when I want to, not 20 minutes later. It gets better, right?? ⠀ I have a new goal to drink at least 3 bottles full of water at work and 1-2 more at home. I need to dilute my system with all of this coffee going in...because 12 week old child... 😴 ⠀ Does anyone have any neat tricks to remind yourself to drink more throughout the day?? I’d love to hear them!!
~Stress eating~ ⠀ Here’s your daily reminder that it’s ok to get off track for a day if something touches your emotions button and you just need your comfort food. You know, like when your country is going to the.... (I’ll stop there). 🤭 ⠀ Repeat after me.. Food. Is. Not. Evil! 🤓 its actually pretty magical. Go for those happy feelings and just eat the food that will get ya there. Don’t beat yourself up over it! That will actually makes things worse. ⠀ And then tomorrow, get right back to reaching your goals 💪🏼 ⠀ In case you were wondering, my comfort food is a big ol bowl of #Chipotle, with *extra* rice 😲 and all of the things that make it a million calories. It’s delicious. #noregrets
Quick and easy! ⠀ Stir-fry is my go-to when I need something quick. You can use whatever veggies you have on hand, add a protein and throw it over rice or noodles. I typically have a bag of frozen veggies on hand to make it even more convenient 👍🏼 ⠀ I’m not even getting into the pre-made sauces that basically make it the easiest meal to make ever 🙃 #quickandeasy #healthyissimple
Umm it’s Christmas week? 🎄 Did this creep up on anyone else? Just me? Cool 🙃 ⠀ Does anyone feel tapped out on the productive side of things? I feel like I’ve have had to be extra creative with making Christmas magical this year being stuck inside and all. But at the end of the day, children make it so fun despite these crazy times. ⠀ I found this little pillow at a craft show with my mother in law before the kids and house even existed, but I knew it could come in handy. I’m glad I bought it! Santa has to get in somehow 🎅🏼 ⠀ What kind of little things do you have or do to make the magic of Christmas real for your kids??
𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲! 🙌🏼 ⠀ I’m a little over halfway through my maternity leave and I’m already stressing about making dinners once I go back. I figured I’d go ahead and find some dinners to test out while I have the time (what else is there to do while nursing, amiright?!) and focus on adding some variety to our plant based meal rotation. ⠀ I’m mostly focusing on crock pot/pressure cooker meals I can make quickly! This was for sure a winner. Crock pot black bean burritos from @vegan_in_the_freezer 🤤. So easy and so tasty! ⠀ The BEST part is it made a ton. I rolled them into burritos that I’ll freeze for later! Who doesn’t love an easy to grab lunch or dinner when you’re pressed for time. Not me, friend. Not me 🤓
Fourth trimester is REAL 👶🏻 My bestie said that to me this morning when I sent her this pic and it totally resonates as this nugget won’t let me put him down. Stage 5 Clinger over here! Thank the Lord for baby wraps that give me my hands back. Got the bed semi made, but showering with a baby attached to you is frowned upon I hear. Also thanking Him for dry shampoo. Truth is I’m cool with all of these baby snuggles since this is the last time I’ll have this newborn phase. I just need these two older hooligans to get on board with mommy being occupied all of the time 🙃 (wishful thinking) You’d never know this is the third time I’ve done this because I feel totally clueless with how to care for a tiny human again. Send tips, help, wine, whatever you got 🤪
Now Mama is really outnumbered! On 10/23, Baby A joined the fam after 21 hours of a crazy and exhausting labor - note my face. We knew he was going to be on the larger side, but I still cannot believe I housed and birthed a 9lb7oz kiddo 😳😅 Mommy and Daddy are in love and Big Brothers can’t get enough of him. He completes our family of 5 (+🐶) in the most perfect way. Soaking up this newborn stage as much as I can! I’m also enjoying this time home with my all of my boys 💙💙💙
The struggle is real.⠀ ⠀ Not sure about you but I feel such a pull these days to focus on diet, weight, size, and “fitness”. It is all around us and blatantly in our faces. I’m definitely not saying that physical health isn’t important because it most definitely is. ⠀ ⠀ But we have to remember that wellness goes beyond our physical. And I truly believe you can’t be your best self without address and strengthening your inner self. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve had a lot of bad thoughts about myself and pretty much everything else this week. Self doubt, anxiety, lack of motivation - you name it, It’s happened. It’s been fun 🙄. I’m tired of waking up in a funk and going to bed at night miserable. Something has got to give!⠀ ⠀ Step 1: acknowledge you’re in a bad place ⠀ Step 2: fix it 😉⠀ ⠀ As I’m shifting in my own thinkings and approach to my own health, I’ll be posting to teach and share. (Because after all, this is a wellness account, dangit. My self-reminder 🤪)
It’s allergy season y’all! Let’s talk about local honey! 🍯🐝⠀ ⠀ Honey is way more than just a tasty sweetener for your tea. Chalk full of antioxidants, it can help lower BP and potentially improve cholesterol levels 🙌🏼⠀ ⠀ But my favorite benefit is the impact on allergies! When bees produce honey, it contains a small amount of the pollen from local flowers. This is thought to help lessen one’s sensitivity to the airborne allergens during allergy season when ingested. Honeycomb has even more of the local pollen in it! Spread it on foods just like butter, or warm it up and add to oatmeal or cereal. ⠀ ⠀ The actual effect on honey and allergies hasn’t been clinically studied, but my thoughts are it can’t hurt! Not to mention it’s delicious 😋
Impromptu date night with the hubs after our OB appointment at one of our local faves 👏🏼 ⠀ ⠀ Cincy friends, if you haven’t been to @mazuntetacos , do yourself the biggest favor and go, like, tomorrow. The flavors are amazing. I mean, just look at those colors 🤤 and they get a legit A++ for COVID precautions. I was seriously impressed!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Also, it’s a secret that I don’t want to share, but they have the BEST margaritas (that I didn’t get to have today 🙄🤰🏻). You’re welcome.
