Have I ever shared my driver’s license photo? It’s truly terrible 🫣! It was taken in 2019, so just a few months before my VSG surgery. Second picture is from Valentine’s Day 2024. ⁣ ⁣ I thought it’d make a fun F2FF post bc last night I used my ID to rent an industrial fan (our laundry room flooded again and we’re staying at a hotel… I don’t want to talk about it 🤬), and the guy literally said, “had to do a double take on the picture, that doesn’t look like you!” ⁣ ⁣ I laughed and agreed, and quickly insisted it was me. Reminder to go for your yearly skin check! Had mine last week, and surprisingly didn’t need any spots biopsied. First time in over a decade I’ve gone a year without one 🥳. ⁣ ⁣ I also spoke with my doctor about my psoriasis and she gave me some samples of a new cream to try. I have a steroid, but repeated use can cause “thin skin,” which… no thanks 😳. This new cream isn’t a steroid and is ok for long term use, so I’m hoping it works. My psoriasis is very mild, so far just on my head and neck. ⁣ ⁣ If you’ve used Vtama, I’d love to hear your thoughts! And if your insurance covered it, my doctor said it might not bc it’s so new to the market. October 2017 ➡️ October 2023. ⁣ ⁣ At the end of 2017 I was hospitalized for a near hypertensive crisis. It was scary and I was on so much medication. ⁣ In February 2019 I experienced vertigo-like symptoms after forgetting my meds for 2 days. I was fine 30 minutes after remembering to take them. ⁣ That was the catalyst I needed to get me into a bariatric clinic and sign up for surgery. ⁣ It’s been nearly 4.5 years since my VSG and last blood pressure pill. Sometimes I still can’t believe I did it, but I’ve never once regretted my decision. Time for #transformationtuesday. This is my only full body swimsuit pic from before my VSG, and it’s from 2008 when I went to Mexico. This was pre-kids, and I was probably 70 pounds heavier than I am now. ⁣ ⁣ After is from last weekend. I am 4 years post op from my VSG. I’ve not had any skin removal/plastic surgery. I realized early on in my journey that my body likes a high protein/low carb diet, so I stick to that. I’m comfortable with it and don’t miss the things I used to eat, although I understand most bariatric patients go on to eat carbs in moderation. I’m all about doing what is best for you!
