In the wake of the brutal killings of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and far too many others, America is facing a wreckoning of the systems of white supremacy and institutionalized racism. There are many amazing charitable organizations fighting this fight day in day out, carrying out this tireless work, and if you are able, they could really use your support. The Black and larger BIPOC and similarly marginalized communities that intersect the BIPOC community (womxn, LGBTQIA+, and more) deserve our support and reparations now more than ever. 81-3764408 I hope this list is a launching place for you to consider giving back to organizations focused on supporting the BIPOC community this holiday season if you feel called.
I’ve been dairy free for a while now, but you KNOW that that rich buttery taste is a must when it comes to Thanksgiving mashed potatoes 🥔 that’s why I love @fourthandheart ghee! it’s a 1:1 replacement for butter, without the lactose that causes some not-so-great reactions for a lot of us. it’s also @whole30 approved which is so important to me and my paleo lifestyle. 4th and Heart is the highest quality, best tasting ghee I’ve tried 🤍 have you ever tried ghee?! let me know below 👇🏻 check out the link in my bio to check out 4th and Heart! #ghee #fuelhappy #her4thandheartghee
I wanted to highlight some amazing small businesses, all female owned, and almost half also BIPOC-owned, for your gifting needs this holiday season. Alice + Wonder is a Chicago-based boutique but they sell lots of their amazing finds online anywhere in the country 🙂 I am obsessed with their Chicago sweatshirt and beanies and need them in my life! Bree is a BOSS and has several businesses, including Lavender & Mint Designs, the farmhouse table company she work on with her husband Carlos; The Little House Project, small event and community spaces in Dallas, TX; and her newest venture, The Plant Project, the first black owned plant shop in Dallas. I hope this list of amazing, empowering, female small businesses has inspired you to shop small not just this holiday season, but year-round.
happy thanksgiving! despite this year being a trash fire in many ways, there is so much to be thankful for! • connecting with a friend I lost touch with • moving in to our new apt! • getting a @onepeloton and being consistent in my fitness journey • completing a @whole30 • my job + having financial security at a time when many don’t • my health, rob’s health, our families’ health • therapy • more time to dedicate to passions + hobbies • the ability to slow down • reading so many books! hope everyone has a great day, even if it looks a little different 🧡 #lexlivesnourished
Red Juice is my absolute favorite because it tastes like hibiscus tea and gives me that much-needed 3pm pick-me-up, but I also love Pure (love mixing this with Red Juice and it tastes like a Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade except healthy!), Gold Chocolate, and Gold Pumpkin Spice, which is sadly gone for the season. Any of Organifi’s products are great for the person in your life looking for an extra nutrition boost throughout their day! Manduka mats don’t slip and I use mine every day between Peloton strength, yoga, and bike bootcamp workouts! These mini meal prep versions are so cute and the perfect gift for someone in your life who loves meal prep and healthy foods, and is looking for non-toxic options.
I don’t know about you, but staring at my tiny laptop screen all day has me like 😖 and I have a major headache by the time the day is over. I’m SO HAPPY I found @hilma_co 💃🏼 because you know I love a natural remedy. I take two of these Tension Relief herbal capsules with water and they help me so much! they’re made with natural ingredients like plants and minerals 🌿 but made by doctors so I trust it and know it’ll really work. Hilma also has done clinical research on their products, which is rare with clean remedies! check out the link in my bio to makeover your medicine cabinet! #hilma #getbetterfeeling #herhilma #ambcollab #ambhilma
Today’s gift guide is the gift guide for her – moms, sisters, BFFs, bosses – any special lady in your life. It’s perfect to pair with leggings for those WFH days where you want to look put together on top, but still comfy on the bottom 😉 haven’t been wearing much makeup lately, but this set is perfect for when you want to throw together a quick, pretty look. It’s also tough to shop for the women you think deserve the world, but hopefully this makes it a little easier 🙂
to be honest, I haven’t felt like posting. I knew this day was coming up and I’ve been dreading it for weeks. I haven’t wanted to share or be positive or interact with anyone. a year ago today, my brother died of an opioid overdose. he had been an addict for years, in and out of rehab, and had actually been in recovery for almost a year before he died. when I think about my brother’s death, I feel a mix of emotions. we were never that close, despite being a year and a half apart. I feel like relative strangers knew my brother better than I did. I feel sad, I feel angry, I feel numb, I feel relieved. I wondered the other day how or if my brother would have made it through this year if he were still alive. It’s weird to mourn someone you feel like you barely knew, while at the same time feeling peace that they no longer feel that pain. my parents felt pain when my brother was alive and now they feel a different kind of pain, and I wouldn’t wish either on anyone. I think I miss the person my brother could have been. at his funeral, people he knew through NA remarked what a supportive person he was, and I wish I had known that side of him. grief isn’t a straight line or the same for everyone. you aren’t alone if you are grieving someone while also feeling any of the other myriad of emotions that someone being gone can stir. my brother’s death has impacted me in ways I don’t think I even consciously realize at times. it’s been hard, but I keep moving forward. sending love to anyone experiencing pain or grief, I know many of us are right now — know that you’re not alone 💛
