One of my favorite (and least touristy) places we visited in Iceland…♥️ Ingjaldshólskirkja, located in the west coast of Iceland, is claimed to be the first church in the world built entirely from concrete. An old legend has it that Cristopher Columbus wintered here in 1477 and learned about the sailings of Vikings to lands West of Iceland. The church’s vibrant red roof, in contrast against the lush green landscaping and dark mountain backdrop, scalloped against the moody skies, was seriously breathtaking. It felt like you were quite literally in the middle of a painting. The only other human that we saw here was an older Icelandic man who was walking up the road behind us, having seemed to appear out of nowhere. He quietly diverged off the road and dipped into the lush greenery carrying only a sack with him, which I assume he was using to forage the rare Icelandic wild herbs that flourish on the island.🌿 Are you ready to plan your epic Iceland adventure trip!? 🇮🇸 Don’t stress, since I’ve done all the research and work for you! Send me a message or email me at landry@mavenluxetravel.com for more details, or to get started planning your dream Iceland adventure with me! P.S. which photo is your favorite? (I’m kind of feeling the dark editing/drone views in photo #3) ᵕ̈

Iceland South Coast Road Trip Itinerary: Day 3 🇮🇸 🧊 SAVE THIS POST! 🧊 🇮🇸 Höfn ➡️ Seyðisfjörður (East Coast!) (Don’t forget to save “Day 1” and “Day 2” itineraries a few posts back!) 🌄 Stop 1: Wake up early for a sunrise visit to Vestrahorn (Stokksnes Peninsula)! This is one of my favorite places in Iceland with one of the most dramatic views! (I have a more detailed post on this a few posts back!) {Photos 1-3, 10} ☕️ Grab coffee & waffles at Viking Cafe (where you park for Vestrahorn — opens at 8am) {Photo 4} ⛰️Stop 2: Eystrahorn Mountain (Krossanesfjall) 🫧 Stop 3: Djúpavogskörin Natural Geothermal Pool (this was closed for repairs when I was there, unfortunately, but I’ve heard it’s very cool!) 💧Stop 4: Hengifoss & Litlanesfoss (Hengifoss is the third highest waterfall in all of Iceland and is famous for the red banding in the cliffs around it.) {Photos 5-6} 🚙 Drive to Seyðisfjörður for the night {Photo 7} and stay at Við Lónið Guesthouse {Photo 8}! @vidlonidguesthouse 🥘 Eat dinner at Nordic Restaurant inside Hótel Aldan- (they use only the best and freshest local produce of the season! I had lunch {Photo 8} AND dinner {Photo 9} here and it was amazing!) 🍳 In the morning, grab coffee and breakfast at The Filling Station before starting your adventures for the day! {Photo 8} Next stop 👉🏻 Húsavík! 🐋

I’m definitely addicted…
Iceland South Coast Road Trip Itinerary: Day 2 🇮🇸 💎SAVE THIS POST!💎 🇮🇸 Vík ➡️ Höfn (Day 1 itinerary is a few posts back!) 🌄 Stop 1: Wake up early (we stayed at @hotelvikimyrdal !) for a sunrise visit to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach! This is one of my favorite places in Iceland, labeled as the deadliest beach! {Photos 1-2} ☕️ Head back to Vík and grab a coffee at @skool_beans (Iceland’s 1st micro roaster and tea lab coffee bus!) Pack up and hit the road! {Option to add in Pakgil and Remundargil Canyon Hike, here} ⛰️Stop 2: Fjarðárgljúfur Canyon (the "Majestic Canyon") {Photo 3} 💧Stop 3: Stjórnarfoss Waterfall (Hidden gem, and not crowded!) {Photo 4} 💧Stop 4: Foss á síðu Waterfall & Dverghamrar Cliffs (waterfall above a cute farm—you can see it from the main road) {Option to add in Svartifoss Waterfall Hike, here, if time) 🧊 Stop 5: Svínafellsjökull Glacier {Photo 5} 🏔️ Stop 6: Múlagljúfur Canyon Hike (a MUST visit - insane views, but definitely a moderately difficult hike, especially if the weather is intense like it was for us—we even got hailed on 😅) {Photos 6-9} 🧊 Stop 7: Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon & Fjallsjökull Glacier (insane glacier views from the parking lot) 💎 Stop 8: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach (super popular spot, and the ice “diamonds” on the beach can range in size depending on the season—they were fairly small when we were there—The icebergs in Jökulsárlón are composed of over 1000 year old ice that has broken away from the glacier) {Photo 10} Continue the drive to Höfn (pronounced “Hup”) to stay the night
