Raise your hand if you want to stay in a charming thatch cottage near the ocean! 🙋 We spent a week in Dunmore East, County Waterford. And while our cottage wasn't as charming as this we found it to be a perfect spot to relax, enjoy the coast, and explore so many terrific spots in Ireland's south-east. SHARE this with a friend who is #DreamingofIreland ! #TravelinginIreland #thatch #thatchcottage #Irishcottage #discoverDunmore #SeizeTheDeise #VisitWaterford #littlepiecesofireland #irelandsancienteast #irelandtourism #irelandtravel #irelandtrip #exploringireland #loveireland

March Madness #50_before50

I had planned to pay off our next smallest debt but with the disappearance of my income for the foreseeable future we chose to keep the money in the bank and continue with minimum payments. Knowing that the utter decimation of ad revenue combined with travel cancellations mean my income in June, July & August is going to be non-existent #18 Complete 10 mile bike ride Mild weather at the the end of the month With so much hanging in the unknown I’m planning to take the month one day at a time and do my best.

Ireland's Archaeological History

Today I'm talking with Eileen Murphy, Professor of Archaeology at Queens University Belfast, about Ireland's archaeological history and QUB Archaeological Field School. If you like what you hear, please give my podcast a 5-Star review at Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or your favorite podcast host. We met a few times at Milwaukee Irish Fest and, after long discussions about archaeology, my daughter declared that she wanted to attend Queens University Belfast (QUB). An opportunity for archaeology students from other countries to work alongside Irish students in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Sometimes you get just the *right* photo... For me, this shot of Murrisk Abbey with Croagh Patrick rising beyond is one of those photos. Murrisk Abbey sits right on the coast of Mayo. Westward it looks across the endless Atlantic Ocean. Eastward it gazes at the Holy Mountain. And right here in the ruin of the Abbey lies hope. At least, that's how it feels to me. What do you think? #TravelinginIreland #DreamingofIreland #LoveWestport #Mayo #MayoNorth #WildAtlanticWay #wawpics #irishcoast

3 secrets for visiting County Clare Many visitors to ireland cross from Dublin to the western county of Clare to view the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. Unfortunately most of those same tourists leave the county the same day or early the next leaving little time to discover all the amazing *secrets* of this county along the Wild Atlantic Way. My top 3 *secret spots* in County Clare: 1) Scattery Island -- This monastic island in the middle of the Shannon Estuary holds amazing monastic history and stories of island life. (pictured: round tower on Scattery Island viewed through a church door) 2) Mooghaun Hillfort -- This Bronze age hillfort is 'hidden in plain sight' not far from Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and Dromoland Castle Hotel. The forest walk to to fort is peaceful and, if you visit early enough, you may be sure that the fae exist in this peaceful spot. 3) Burren Perfumery -- I never miss a chance to visit the BurrenPerfumery! Located in the heart of the lush and rocky area this small shop creates amazing perfumes, soaps, lotions, and skin care products from the bounty of their surroundings. Want to discover more about County Clare? CLICK #linkinbio and choose this image!
