Beyond blessed to welcome Lenore Jane Lawrence into the world. Lenore means light, and Jane means God is Gracious; both things we've experienced as a family during her pregnancy and pray she emulates to the world. We're soaking up this sweet time as a family of four and feeling so grateful.

Being his Dad is one of life’s greatest joys. I love his passion, I love how excited he gets about things as small as lady bugs and as big as mountains. I love his zeal for life, that he still likes to cuddle but is wildly independent. I love everything about him. Praying the same verse over him today that we did when he was born 3 years ago, “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, let all that you do be done in love.” -1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Happy 3rd Birthday little lion 🦁.

Think about it, being on the beach and seeing a wave is vastly different than being in the water in the waves, which is even more different than being out at sea watching the wave crash from behind. Right now, I’m in the wave, one day I’ll be past the wave - until then, here’s to staying present in the moment and enjoying the ride. 🏄🏼‍♂️

Perfectly, imperfect. That's how this season has felt. One day I hope we look back at this photo and remember that while we’ve come through one of the hardest seasons as a family, there is good amidst the chaos, there is joy amidst the pain.

Feeling Aspen's absence deeply during this time of year. I find myself yearning for those moments of him jumping into rivers and fetching rocks. Imagining him now, running through heavenly landscapes, brings a bittersweet comfort. Grief is a complex journey, and not a day passes without missing him. It's true that adapting to new norms can be a positive step in healing, even though loss still weighs heavy.

Forever thankful Aspen, Ira, and our daughter on the way have a madre like her.

It's nearly unfathomable for me to believe I am writing this post. Every bit of me still feels like he is about to walk back through our door covered in snow. It doesn't feel real & it doesn't feel fair. Our hearts are aching beyond belief. Our best friend Aspen is no longer with us.  How could I even put words to the 11 years we had with him? It would take endless pages to express the magnitude of joy he brought to our lives. He was more than just a pet; we were kindred souls.  To all of you, thank you for loving him. Sarah and I feel so honored that we got to share our boy with the world. Someday we hope we can hear all the stories, but for now, we'd love to hear how Aspen brought you joy in the comments below.  Please pray for our family in the coming days, weeks, months & years ahead.  Here is our prayer. "We are grateful, O God, for the happiness that was, even as we mourn the sorrow that is, even as we sit in the sadness of now empty spaces in heart and home, empty spaces that echo our loss. O Lord, how long till all is made right? How long till your wild grace restores all loss and upends every leaving? How long till these hurts are healed and these griefs eternally sealed and set aside by the finally completed work of your redeeming love? We know that the final working of your redemption will be far-reaching, encompassing all things in heaven and on earth, so that no good thing will be lost forever, so that even our sorrow at the loss  of this beloved creature will somehow,  someday, be met and filled, and, in joy, made forever complete. Comfort us in this meantime, O Lord,  for the ache of these days is real. Amen." - Every Moment Holy
