Reppin' in that summer heat
"Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain." Philippians 2:14-16 I haven't been around much lately as I have been lacking inspiration and motivation as I face the realities of the crazy times we are living in. When I started to think of something to share today, I came across this verse and was reminded that we as HISown should be doing things differently so that we shine as lights in the darkness. Disputing, grumbling, or fighting with those that think differently than we do diminishes our witness and makes us look no different than the world. I'm not saying we shouldn't be standing for justice or shouldn't speak our minds, but the way we respond should look different than those of the world. The next time you're thinking of engaging, stop, pray about it and make sure that you're shining like a light in the darkness. Remember who you are and who you belong to and be blameless in a crooked generation.

In these crazy times we are living in it is easy to be weighed down by the things going on around us. While we shouldn't hide our heads in the sand, we need to make sure that we are spending more time thinking about the things that will bring us life, peace and hope. Spend some time today thinking about these good things that we've been instructed to think about. Spend some time showing love to those around you. Spend some time remembering all that God has done in your life and find the peace that He brings even in uncertain times.

The troubles we face aren't always "light and momentary", or at least they may not feel that way, but they are shaping us and bringing us future glory that will make them all worthwhile. Know that you're never alone and trust in God to bring you through whatever you are facing. He will deliver you from your troubles if you let him and one day, looking back, you'll see that the glory is worth the pain you suffered.
God has called us to work for Him. That certainly isn't an easy calling, but He will give us the strength we need to keep on. Don't let life beat you to the point where you are ready to give up, but if it does, step back and spend some time with God who will energize you, counsel you, comfort you and get you back on your feet. Trust in the one that had made you HISown and know that what He has for you is far greater than anything the world can offer.

This is phrase that a pastor I knew would say quite often. It reminds me that the God that we believe in is bigger than anything going on in our lives and that because we are HISown, we are much more than who the world tells us we are. It is something that had encouraged me over the years and is the reason that we print it on the labels of our shirts. I hope it encourages you the that it has encouraged me.
It is because of his death and resurrection that in Jesus we are given the privilege of being the children of God. HISown. Thankful for the sacrifice that was made for me and you.
