What an incredible day we had with our Members exploring the Eagles' sustainability efforts! 🌿 Led by Norman Vossschulte, the Director of Fan Experience and Sustainability, we delved into the Eagles' commitment to the environment from offsetting team travel with tree plantings and sea grass and mangrove restoration, using solar energy to power around 40% of the stadium and purchasing renewable offset credits, to being a sustainability leader in the NFL! It was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic faces eager to support Green Philly's mission of making sustainability accessible to everyone. 🌍💚 Missed out on today's fun? Don't worry, it's not too late to become a Member and join us for future events! Click the link in our bio to join the green movement. Let's make a difference together!

What better occasion than #EarthWeek to explore a unique ecosystem! 🌾 This photo may not look like much but Julie and her trusty pup Archer, stumbled upon a wetland while hiking in the Philadelphia suburbs. DYK: Wetlands and bogs are bustling hubs for a diverse range of life, hosting more plants, bugs, birds, frogs, fish, and critters than any other habitat on Earth! 🌍 In Pennsylvania, over half of the plants and animals depend on wetlands for their food and reproductive needs. Now, that's one lively bog! 🐦🐸 #themoreyouknow

🌿 Discover the transformative journey of Christa Barfield (@farmerjawn_), a former healthcare professional turned farmer and advocate for sustainability during EcoFair on 4/27 at @cherrystpier! After a solo trip abroad in January 2018, Christa returned home inspired to connect with the land, plant life, and social issues that heavily impact Black and brown communities and all people’s perception of food. Her business is a reincarnation of her healthcare career with a focus on regeneration and nutrition security. Now with 128 acres across 3 counties in PA, she has built FarmerJawn with an equitable focus on Food is Medicine and she is leading conversations nationwide on how to take a Farm First approach to America’s relationship with food and health. Secure your spot now by RSVPing through the link in our bio for a day filled with sustainable inspiration, a bustling green marketplace, opportunities to connect with local nonprofits, and plenty more!

While at @phl_airport, Lauren, our Social Media and Marketing Manager, observed captivating artwork in Terminal E. Upon closer examination, she realized that the entire creation was crafted solely from discarded single-use plastic. 🎨 This amazing creation, by @eurhi.jones, is entitled "Storm Over the Atlantic," from her ongoing "Overflow" series. 🌊 This captivating series is exclusively crafted from discarded single-use plastic collected by Jones's family, friends, @weaversway, and @rabbit_recycling. ♻️ By abstaining from new materials, Jones aims to minimize her carbon footprint and contribute to a greener planet. 🌍 From the artist herself: "In the future, I hope that this art material becomes obsolete. In 2022, at the United Nations, 175 nations agree to develop a legally binding agreement on plastic pollution by 2024, prompting a major step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions from plastic production, use and disposal. So there’s hope in Blue Dragon year!" Have you seen this art in person yet or Euhri's works around Philly? Make sure to check it out in Terminal E! #PHLAirportArt @phlairportart

How Bella Vista Neighbors Association fundraised to keep its neighborhood clean & hire returning citizens

The Bella Vista Neighbors Association (BVNA), a nonprofit community organization dedicated to public safety, preservation, and community building, has been crowdfunding since 2018 to pay for their own street sweeping. There were a lot of members of the board who were really interested in litter and waste management and who think that the city needs to be doing more to keep our neighborhoods clean,” says Alison Perelman, chair of BVNA’s beautification committee. When the city didn’t provide, BVNA decided to hire ACAM management, a minority- and woman-owned cleaning company which had been working with other civic associations such as the Queen Village Neighbors Association, to start cleaning the neighborhood’s streets. While the program’s success is an incredible model for other neighborhoods and civic associations, it is important to recognize that not all neighborhoods have access to the resources that Bella Vista does.
