Let’s talk about whisky pricing a bit here. The @lagavulinwhisky 16 has been an Islay whisky staple for many of us for years and years! It’s beloved and highly sought after around the globe and stands as a great reminder of just how delicious Lagavulin can be! However prices have risen significantly over the past couple of years, in some areas almost doubling. Even so we still find ourselves reaching for this one when we want a lovely taste of Islay, even at the higher price point. How about you? Are you still reaching for the Lag 16 or have you found a better option? We’d love to hear!
If you’ve sampled these you’ll know just how special they are. Multi-layered with fruit and Mizunara aromas, Yamazaki whiskies are complex and deep. Made at Yamazaki Distillery, the birthplace of Japanese whisky, and sought after by enthusiasts around the globe, for good reason! Tasty stuff indeed! 🥃🥃
Fans of @bruichladdich are already well aware of how special this bottle is, an 18 year old non peated Islay malt, that has certainly captured our attention! In pursuit of flavour and to support the agricultural community on Islay, Bruichladdich began working with one farmer in 2004 to raise a crop of locally grown barley. This pioneering trial has now expanded to 20 vital farming partners today who grow over 50% of the distillery’s barley for total production. Bottled at 50% ABV and distilled from this first crop of Islay grown barley, along with organically grown grain and varietals from the Scottish Mainland, The Bruichladdich Eighteen is fully traceable, from farm to glass. 🥃👌
Standing tall as one of the most recognizable bottles is The Macallan 12. The Macallan’s estate covers over 485 acres, where tradition and nature meet 🌾! This classic single malt brings together flavors of dried fruits and sherry - Perfect for any palate with a curiosity for scotch! 🥃 #themacallan #macallan #scotch #whisky #singlemalt
@theglenlivet was one of the first distilleries to use French oak casks for maturation, fast forward a century or two and they’re still using them! The French oak is limousin oak from the Dordogne region and is very low density which allows the whisky to penetrate deep into the wood. A lovely summer evening dram!
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s origins are unconventional, founded by ‘Maverick-in-Chief’ Pip Hills out of a sense of adventure, an endless discovery of whisky, friendship and fun. They started out in 1983 with a few friends in Edinburgh sharing single cask whisky. Forty years on, they are a worldwide whisky club with over 41,000 members who treasure flavour and the joy of shared experiences tasting single cask whisky from around the globe.
Bill Samuels, Sr., founder of @makersmark simply wanted a whisky he would enjoy drinking. He chose to use soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye, for a full-flavored bourbon that would present a bit more approachable for those who were looking for something different. 70 odd years later and Maker’s has become one of the most recognizable brands in bourbon. The distillery on Star Hill Farm is now producing some 24million bottles a year, guess Bill was onto something with that wheat after all. 🥃🌾
Made at the Limestone Branch Distillery in Kentucky, named after an iconic national park @yellowstonebourbon has been around since 1872. At one time Yellowstone was the largest selling brand in all of Kentucky. These days Yellowstone has been committed to finding ways to give back to Mother Nature, this year alone they’ve donated $250,000 to the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), an independent organization working tirelessly to strengthen and protect national parks. Up here in Canada they’ve forged a partnership with the Trans Canada tail, donating an additional $40,000 to help connect people with our beautiful wild places. We love a good whiskey, and especially love these beautiful places we are so fortunate to explore, we think they naturally go hand in hand! Well done @yellowstone for helping to keep them pristine for all of us to enjoy! 🥃🥃
