Bacau Bay Resort Coron, Philippines, the gateway to natures wonders in Palawan

Earlier that day as our plane came into land, I had a fabulous view of the green mountainous interior of Busuanga Island as well as the white sand beaches lapped by the bluest of waters. Large smiles from the hotel manager and his team greeted us as they served us a refreshing lemon and ginger welcome drink in the elegant lobby overlooking a very inviting swimming pool set in lush green gardens. It was spacious and comfortable with all the facilities I would expect from a four-star hotel including air-conditioning, Nespresso machine, complimentary drinking water (in a refillable glass bottle as opposed to a once use plastic bottle) an LED television set, and a digital alarm clock with Bluetooth speaker plus slippers and bathrobes. As well as the lovely garden, this stylish hotel has a good range of facilities including two bars and two restaurants, a large swimming pool, a children’s pool, a small beauty and massage centre, a fitness centre, a children’s activity centre and a dive shop.

5 great benefits of spending time in nature

A healthier diet and getting more exercise are two obvious answers but there is a third and, this is my particular favourite, do you know about the many great benefits of spending time in nature? There’s a reason why seasonal depression is so prevalent in the winter, and it’s mostly due to people spending too much time inside without access to sunlight. Whether you’re worried about work, or the lack of it, a big exam, a house move, or any of the everyday challenges we all face, getting outside and enjoying nature is a great way to unwind and de-stress. Spending time out in the fresh air, in natural light, getting some exercise and immersing yourself in mother nature, can help you sleep better.

Why Dorset should be on your summer holiday bucket list

Known as the Jurassic Coast, long stretches of beaches are backed by stunning fossil-filled cliffs with fascinating rock formations displaying millions of years of geological history. However, beyond the beaches, there’s plenty for all the family to enjoy including historic castles and forts, countryside walks and fabulous seafood. Take in the rich history of Corfe Castle (pictured below), the impossibly quaint cobbled street of Gold Hill (of the Hovis advert fame) or Lulworth Castle & Park, to name just a few, for a history enriched day out. Other local produce to look out for include numerous craft beers, such as the award-winning ales from Palmers Brewery in Bridport, the delectable preserves From Dorset with Love, James’s Cheese from Gold Hill Organic Farm, and Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese from Woodbridge Farm.
