I am Caro a passionate foodie, French wine lover, photographer and traveller. I live in the Haute Savoie in the Auvergne Rhone-Alps region of France. I'm a Cordon Bleu and Culinary Institute of America trained cook and I hold WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) certificates I and II.

Working as a professional cook onboard a luxury charter yacht based both in the Caribbean and Mediterranean for several years fed my thirst for travel and seeing the world.

My longtime passion for photography turned professional after I graduated from The Photography Institute with a Diploma in Professional Photography in 2014. My photography has been featured online and in various magazines promoting France and regional tourist information brochures. I have exhibited in France, the UK and Switzerland.

Taste of Savoie - a blog of my culinary travels, recipes and foodie adventures enables me to indulge my passions of both photographing and eating my way around this wonderful region of France and the Genevois area of Switzerland. My recipes and photos have been featured in the expats section of The Wall Street Journal, France Magazine and on various websites promoting France and the Rhone Alps.

I always seek out the local dishes, I love testing and developing recipes, tasting local wines and produce and travelling and eating in some superb restaurants!

Taste of Savoie Travels and Eats farther afield too and I love to share my experiences by writing about and photographing interesting food traditions and places I see around the world.

I’m happiest when I’m travelling with my camera and I travel frequently throughout France, around Switzerland and Europe and often spend time in Asia. I’ll go anywhere for a great meal and a good photo!

Reblochon Chaussons

Reblochon cheese is a great soft cheese for eating and cooking with. As Reblochon comes in two qualities Fermier (Green label) and regular (red label) I normally use the red label for cooking with as it has a slightly milder flavour. The Chausson in France is similar to a turnover and normally made with puff pastry parcel filled with fruit.

Many of these 12 recipes use Savoyard ingredients, you’ll find fusion dishes and variations on traditional french dishes I hope you enjoy them!
