Modern & contemporary American art with world-renowned ceramics collection. First Museum designed by I. M. Pei. Share your 📸with #EversonMuseum
In celebration of the Everson’s 50th anniversary in 2018, the Museum commissioned Elliott Katz to create site-specific installations for the spaces that architect I.M. Pei designed as planters. Katz was selected for the commission because of how his work engages with the significance of materials and questions how we form relationships to those materials, as well as his interest in contrasting the Modernist belief in controlling nature against the Wabi sabi belief in the fundamental uncontrollability of nature. Using natural and synthetic materials, photography, scale, and illusion, Katz’s serious and playful installations transform familiar objects into curious mysteries that defy simple categorization and ignite our imagination. Meet our new Everson Board Members! We will be introducing a new person each week in the upcoming weeks! Janet Moon is Senior Counsel in Bousquet Holstein’s Immigration Practice Group, where she focuses her practice on immigration law. Janet concentrates her practice in the areas of family-based green card applications, removing conditions, citizenship and naturalization; transitioning from a student exchange visitor status to employment; and employment-based petitions and visas, as well as complex admissibility or denial issues. Prior to joining Bousquet Holstein, Janet teamed up with veteran immigration attorney Diane Chappell-Daly. Janet took over Diane’s practice of over 20 years. Welcome to the Everson, Janet! 🎉 #AttheE #eversonmuseum #syracuseny #downtownsyracuse #cnylife

To honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the @EversonMuseum is closed. We’re reflecting on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through @TheDemocraticCup. This cup from the Rosenfield Collection, entitled “Hands Up” by Shannon Tovey (@s.tovey) and Bianka Groves (@Bianka_Groves) reminds us of the chaotic year that we have suffered through, and the work that has yet to be done. On a hopeful note, the cup is paired with a new Museum acquisition from the legendary Black artist, curator, and activist Evangeline Montgomery. Montgomery is primarily known for her incredible prints and groundbreaking curatorial work, but she has also produced an incredible body of work that includes this sculptural assemblage of wheel-thrown pots. #MLKDAY21 #TheDemocraticCup #EvangelineMontgomery
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” ― Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Today we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His activism, teachings, and calls to speak out against injustice continue to guide us today. #MLKDay2021 #MLK #AtTheE #eversonmuseum
