I’m a mom of two girls, Abbie (born 2012) and Ella (born 2016) living in the DC area.
I founded Being Mrs. Beer in 2011 as a way to document newlywed life, which quickly expanded into motherhood once my girls were born.
I share what works for our family (and doesn’t) with two full-time working parents, including parenting, wellness, easy meal ideas, and a bit of my personal style.
I think it’s important not to sugarcoat the tough stuff and to reject the mom guilt we all feel pushed upon us. I love sharing that on my blog and building a community.

Summer fun with these two today! ❤️☀️
Did you plant a garden this year? Happy first day of summer from my baby tomatoes and my summer cold! 🤧 I kept it simple with cherry tomatoes, few bell peppers, squash, and cucumbers. Ella already has asked to eat all the tomatoes!
My sister Melanie called me screaming on Thursday night as I was making dinner. I’ve never heard her so excited. Then she said, “Do you want to go see Taylor Swift?!?!?” 😱 Her diligence in checking all day long for last minute tickets paid off in a big way and we got to go to Pittsburgh last night! Kicked off summer with our favorite ice cream yesterday- complete with sprinkles. 🍦
Girl Scout High Adventure Day was a big success! We hiked, learned to use a slingshot, ate s’mores, and did nature arts and crafts. 🍃 It was so nice to spend the day with my littlest girl. ❤️ One of my favorite mother-daughter days for sure.
I had a whole post in my head today but it doesn’t feel right to post. Instead, here’s a photo of my girls walking home from school. From what should be a safe place but increasingly isn’t. I want so much more for our babies. 💔

Because I’ve always been in the kitchen, it has been important to me that my kids get involved in the kitchen early as well. When Rosh Hashanah arrived, I had just started a new job thanks to a connection with friend and a chance Facebook post, posted out of frustration. As I’ve wanted to do for years, I found small ways to get my kids – technically Jewish because of their Jewish mom, but growing up in an interfaith home – excited about their heritage. If you’re not Jewish, you may not know that it’s a minor holiday in the Jewish calendar, commercialized and popularized due to proximity to Christmas on the calendar. On that same thought, I personally estimate we’ve got about eight months to go before things start to get a bit easier in this country (we all know vaccine distribution will likely go on through the summer).
