Oookay, did everyone have a good restaurant week!? I did and I’m so happy I made a stop at The Rossi! @therossibarandkitchen is a 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐞 that opened in 2005 (can you believe that’s SIXTEEN years ago?!) but did you know in Fall of 2019 the Local Cantina/ George Tanchevski’s crew took it over? 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨!⁣ ⁣ The bar is intimate, classy and somehow relaxed all at the same time. Service, ambiance, and food was all A+ for me! ⁣ ⁣ The Restaurant Week menu definitely impressed me and every dish (not just entrees) felt creative and thoughtful. We started with the panzanella salad that was so fresh it tasted like summer. The bruschetta with fresh creamy mozzarella & balsamic reduction was also amazing. ⁣ ⁣ Let me tell you the bolognese for my second course was 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 👏🏼 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢 👏🏼 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 👏🏼 𝘛𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 👏🏼 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦. I’ve never been, but this is what I imagine most of the pastas in Italy taste like. The handmade rosemary pappardelle was fantastic! Okay and then house made tiramisu and cheesecake for dessert?! *𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐟’𝐬 𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐬! 💋 ⁣ ⁣ Thank you, @rossi for an incredible evening and don’t forget to check out their 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫!!⁣ ⁣

𝐈𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝗪𝐞𝐞𝐤?!⁣ ⁣ I was able to go to three different places and last night Bodega really showed up with their $15 three course menu. I 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃 the handmade crispy spring rolls filled with shrimp and pork and served with an in house mango sweet chili sauce! The 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦 beer battered fish sandwich with a Cajun remoulade was chosen by my counterpart and I enjoyed the Asian Harvest Salad with an insanely delicious ginger onion dressing for course 2. Legent combines the skill of the Japanese master blender with the craft of the Kentucky master distiller into a very delicious & affordable bourbon. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It starts out as a standard Kentucky bourbon from the Beam stock and then portions of their starter bourbon are aged in red wine casks and sherry casks. The three threads are then blended by Fukuyo, and then bottled at 94 proof. A while back, I bartended at Zauber Brewing Company (RIP) and the guys from Hai Poke would bring their truck 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺 and eventually moved inside during the winter.⁣ ⁣ 𝐍𝐨𝐰, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐈 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬. Did you guys see that @highbankco_ added some new cocktails and food items to their menu?!⁣ ⁣ Obsessssed with the new 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬: Professor Rum, banana, cold brew, ginger, vanilla and house made whipped cream on top. I also appreciated the 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: spiced Whiskey War barrel proof, Luxardo, hibiscus & citrus. ⁣ ⁣ The new 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥 was super filling- pan seared salmon, quinoa, cabbage, kale, roasted carrots, soy cucumbers, mandarin oranges & maple roasted ponzu vinaigrette. It’s nice to have healthier options when going out! They also added a 𝐏𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐨 & 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨 𝐩𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐚! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I urge all of you to try to support local AS MUCH AS YOU CAN these next few days. If you go out, be careful and respectful and please make sure to tip your bartenders and servers a little extra if you can. We’re most likely going to get shut down again and a lot of these restaurants won’t be able to survive another closure.

This holiday is celebrated on November 1st & 2nd in Europe and Latin American countries and is meant to show immense love and respect for deceased family members. While the overall theme is death, the celebration is an explosion of color and life affirming joy. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m sharing with you guys the 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚, created by Thomas Waugh of the famous Death & Co. La Catrina has become an icon of the Mexican Dia de Muertos, she’s the elegantly dressed skeleton figure you’re used to seeing, arguably the most ubiquitous symbol of the holiday. ⤵️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2oz Hornitos Plata⁣⁣ 1/2oz lemon juice⁣⁣ 3/4oz simple syrup⁣⁣ A few small strawberries ⁣⁣ 10 whole black peppercorns⁣⁣ Splash of absinthe⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Muddle strawberry & peppercorns. Rinse a cocktail glass with absinthe. Shake all ingredients with ice in a shaker and then fine strain into a cocktail glass.
