The evening allowed us to (𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳)indulge in a variety of Pettigew's sweet & savoury mini viennoiserie & as expected, everything was delicious. We also previewed the beautiful new city centre refurb which tied in perfectly with the anniversary celebrations. The upstairs seating area is a tranquil retreat nestled in this bustling arcade. With each dish carefully crafted and inspired by their southern Indian roots. 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 🍕🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Get ready to stretch those jaws, because @thetowpathinn is serving up THICK Detroit style pizza🍕 and that cheese skirt is like the fashion statement we never knew we needed 🥵 🧀 Detroit-style pizza is a distinctive pizza style originating from Detroit, Michigan. It's characterized by its rectangular shape, thick and airy crust, and crispy edges known as "frico." (Or a cheese skirt). The cheese is spread to the edges, creating a delectable, crisp caramelized crust, and toppings are typically placed on top of the cheese. We opted for the Red Pepper Detroit with Bloody Mary Vodka sauce - smoky, spicy vodka sauce with olives, pecorino & parsley. It was superb! The pizza pie was mammoth & we were pleased to box up some leftovers for supper.  We added on all the dips - highlights were the hot honey drizzle 🔥 and the black garlic confit mayo 🧄 The Towpath Inn is under an hour's drive from Cardiff - a stones throw from Abergavenny. It's nestled at the side of a beautiful canal & is well worth the pizza pilgrimage 🍕 One of the best pizzas to have passed my lips in a while & a must visit for pizza enthusiast! The cocktails are also excellent - I tried both the blackberry & mango margaritas and the delicious honeycomb espresso martini. 𝗔𝗱 - 𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗕𝗼𝘅 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 🍔🎄🧀 This week we visited @hubbox_ to try their Christmas menu. This is a set menu for a minimum of 2 people & includes an absolute feast of a sharing starter selection! The beer fondue platter was an absolute cheese lovers dream & was most definitely the highlight of our meal 🧀 the menu also includes a drink and a choice of burgers that are accompanied by fries. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀; 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝘀 🥔  Tater tots, Buffalo hot sauce, ranch dressing & crispy onions (our tots were replaced by lattice fries due to being out of tots) 𝗕𝗕𝗤 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 🍗 Crispy BBQ chicken wings, smoky BBQ glaze & crispy onions 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗲 🫕 Cornish IPA, raclette & gouda fondue, house pickles, pink pickled onions & Baker Tom bread.
