i was so nervous about how ovi would react when we brought violet home, but it turns out he's obsessed with her🥹🫶🏼🐾 the night before we came back from the hospital, we had a hat and swaddle with her scent on it that he could get used to. and then when we got home, we first came inside without her so he could get his excitement out! that's when we brought her inside and introduced them🥰

i wish i could go back and tell my 37 week pregnant self that the discomfort & nerves about giving birth would be nothing more than just a blip in time once my baby was here🫶🏼 it's so hard to just trust the process & be patient, but it's the best thing we can do!

a different kind of sunday brunch🥰🍼 v had her first big outing today and it was so nice to visit alex at volleyball! it's been super important to both of us to maintain our hobbies & still have time with our friends in parenthood - we talked about it long before baby & are already checking in with each other about our mental health🫶🏼 postpartum is hard enough already, but communication helps & is a must!!

week one as a mama🥰 - i finally feel a bit more like myself and a *lot* less in pain (everywhere😅) - life is lived in 2-3 hour increments - fed is best! - i'm positive i wouldn't survive without my *own* mother here - or our village, near and far - my insomnia has prepared me well for newborn life and for that i am grateful - i forgot about all of my old clothes in the closet & now it feels like free shopping💁🏻‍♀️ - women are superheroes.

welcome to the world, violet dorothy friendly🥹🫶🏼 born 3/28, 7 pounds 8 ounces and 22 inches long. 2 days early and yet somehow so perfectly & beautifully right on time💫

trust and surrender - the two words that got me through my pcos fertility journey last year and are still getting me through today🦋 there's so much power in knowing that our bodies were *made* for this. they know what to do, and when it's time🫶🏼 no matter where you are in your own journey, just know it's unfolding exactly how it's meant to✨ and if you need them too, here are some of my favorite mantras that i'll be repeating while i give birth: 💕 i am supported, loved and safe 💕 i set my worries aside & allow my body to do its job 💕 i am strong and i can do this 💕 my body will protect me & my baby on its way to me 💕 my body and my baby are working together in harmony

it's always nice to have an excuse to dress up! although let’s be honest, i was still home and in bed by 10pm…proud of myself for making it out at all at 39 weeks pregnant, though😂 // dress: @sezane (everything is linked in my ltk!)

mom & dad are ready when you are, baby girl🫶🏼 📸 @reganscamera

WE CAN DO HARD THINGS👏🏼 there's something incredibly freeing about focusing on the pure strength of it all, and removing aesthetics completely. my "fit pregnancy" has always been primarily mental health-focused, and preparing me for birth & recovery. i'm *so* grateful i've been able to keep up my routine as best as possible🙏🏼 every single person is different, but here's what fitness has looked like for me the past 9 months! ✨1st trimester: 5-6 workouts/week with a mix of pilates, dance cardio, strength, cycling, & daily walking ✨2nd trimester: 4-5 workouts/week with a mix of pilates & strength, plus daily walking ✨3rd trimester: 2-3 gentle pilates workouts/week, 2 strength and daily walking + pelvic floor exercises & 360 breathing throughout some of my favorites: @peloton (strength, cycling, barre & prenatal specific), @pregnancyandpostpartumtv on youtube, @thebellemethod prenatal push prep workouts, @purelypope prenatal pilates, @rachelrecharged sculpt & @madd.fit on youtube

these soft-baked, gluten & dairy free oatmeal snack cakes were first on my list for postpartum prep! they're perfect for *any* one, but especially mamas who want to naturally increase milk supply with almonds, oats, flax & sesame seeds🫶🏼 OATMEAL SNACK CAKES (gf, df, refined sugar free) 1 1/2 cups almond flour 1 cup oats 1/4 cup ground flaxseeds 1/4 cup sunflower seeds 2 tbsp sesame seeds 1 tsp baking soda punch sea salt 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 1/2 cup maple syrup 1/3 cup melted coconut oil 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup chocolate chips PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees. in a large bowl, COMBINE all ingredients except chocolate chips. LINE an 8x11 pan with parchment and BAKE for 25 minutes. let COOL then SLICE and DRIZZLE with melted chocolate. refrigerate or FREEZE for up to one month.

Roadtrip & Colorado Recap (plus a Big Life Update!)

We listened to audiobooks almost the entire time, stopped in Utah for the night on the way there, pulled off on the side of the road to admire the rock formations, and stopped in a little town in CO called Grand Junction for awesome tacos. We cooked more instead of dining out (I share more of my favorite spots in Breckenridge this post and this post!), but were able to grab takeout from our favorite spots like Giampietro’s for pizza, Mi Casa for Mexican, and Clint’s for coffee! Though it was bittersweet to leave (the week went by too quickly and it’s my favorite place), we planned our stop on the way home to be in Vegas instead of Utah so we could do some exploring. I’m not sure if this is the case when we’re not in a pandemic, but we had to buy “tickets” online in advance and choose a specific time!

Chai Spiced Sugar Cookies (Vegan/GF)

The ingredients are nutritious enough for them to pass for breakfast, so I didn’t feel too badly 🙂 1 cup cassava flour 1/2 cup almond flour 1 tsp each nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger & cloves 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup melted coconut oil 3/4 cup granulated sweetener (I used an allulose blend!) 1 flax egg (1 tbsp flaxseed, 2 1/2 tbsp water) 1 tbsp vanilla extract 3 tbsp almond milk optional: cinnamon + sweetener Combine the wet & dry ingredients and stir till completely combined. form into slightly flattened rounds and place on a parchment lined or greased baking sheet.

5 Things I've Been Doing for My Mental Health

As I’m navigating it all, I’ve had to take a step back from this blog because after many 12+ hour days staring at my laptop and phone, I’ve mostly just been wanting to check out and turn off my brain entirely! It’s tough when most of my life is social media (both my full time job and side hustle), but I’m learning to spend any free time I have doing anything else. I’m trying to remind myself that I have a right, just like everyone else, to take time off and not be on email 24/7! I’ve realized that the only person putting that pressure on myself to post on Instagram everyday, write on this blog, post YouTube videos, make Tik Toks and all of these other things is me.

January Favorites (Healthy Snacks, Beauty, Activewear + More!)

I haven’t even taken a beat to reflect on all that’s happened in the last few weeks – personally, professionally, in the country and in the world! I feel like 2021 is honestly looking up and while we still have a ways to go before things start to feel I’ve taken the pressure off myself when it comes to this blog and my social media, and that’s turned it back into an outlet where I can share freely, create, write, and ultimately, just enjoy! Ok I know this is a bit of a splurge, but you can usually find Pressed doing some kind of sale and when you do, please get their almond milk and put it in your coffee.
