World's Most Beautiful Places to Go Ice Skating

When it comes to outdoor skating rink experiences in a large metropolitan city like Toronto Ontario Canada, look no further than the Natrel Rink at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. Other winter activities to do in this fab city are the California Academy of Sciences & the Japanese Tea Garden, The Exploratorium on Piers 15 & 17, Baker Beach & Lands End Labyrinth, The Painted Ladies House & Alamo Square Park, Battery Spencer for views across the Bay & the bridge, whale watching tours that leave from Fisherman’s Wharf and of course, the legendary NYE Firework’s display. There’s one more reason both locals and visitors alike flock to this market, and that’s the ice skating rink that pops up from mid-November to early January to accompany the Christkindlmarkt. While temporary during winter months, the ice-skating rink set up outside Rijksmuseum (the National Museum) on Museumplein (Museum Square) is easily the city’s most picturesque skating rink.

Finding the Prettiest Ontario Fall Colours in Muskoka

Close enough to be a day trip from Toronto, the area around Huntsville is perfect for a scenic drive and a hike in Arrowhead Provincial Park. On your drive up to Huntsville, there are many options for scenic roads to drive that are full of autumn colours. Alternatively, you can drive your way around the other side of the lake and visit the Dorset Fire Tower and then head up to Oxtongue River-Ragged Falls Provincial Park. Both of these scenic trails are great options for fall hikes but there are lots of other hiking routes to explore as well as canoeing routes at Limberlost Arrowhead Provincial Park

Ontario Road Trips From Toronto

It’s on the east side of the park, a 5 hour drive from Toronto, so it probably isn’t suitable for a weekend road trip to Algonquin but is a great choice if you are staying for longer. I suggest starting your Lake Superior road trip by doing a big day of driving and ending up in Pancake Bay or Lake Superior Provincial Park. Some places you may want to stop at on the northern shore of Lake Superior include Aguasabon Falls, Masukama Falls, Kama Bay Lookout, and Ouimet Canyon Provincial Park. End your trip by spending some time in Algonquin Provincial Park exploring highlights like Barron Canyon, Lookout Trail, and Lake Opeongo.

Day Trip to Sandbanks Provincial Park, Ontario

While this day trip is only taking in the Sandbanks, if you have more time, Prince Edward County is the perfect place for a weekend trip. North Beach Provincial Park is a separate park in Prince Edward County but your entry to Sandbanks will cover your entry here. I actually prefer North Beach over Outlet Beach so if you are looking to spend time on the beach you may want to start your day here. North Beach has a huge 1km long white sandy beach that extends along Lake Ontario.
