AIDA Cruises offers Canary Island cruises starting December 2020

On December 5, 2020 AIDA Cruises will open their cruise season around the Canary Islands with AIDAperla, followed by AIDAmar, which will start its winter season with a Christmas voyage on December 20, 2020. The Spanish government adopted clear regulations for safe travel in the Canaries in November, which are in line with AIDA’s already established hygiene and prevention measures. AIDA’s health and safety protocols, which have been audited by SGS Institute Fresenius and confirmed by the classification society DNV-GL, among others, include measures such as the free COVID 19 test before the voyage, secure arrival and departure, medical care, distance regulations and increased disinfection measures on board, as well as guided shore excursions. From the start of the booking process to the travel preparation, embarkation and disembarkation in the port, the stay on board and medical care: In addition to the already existing high hygiene and health standards, AIDA Cruises has developed new health and safety protocols together with national and international authorities and has implemented a variety of preventive measures.

MSC Cruises approved to restart cruises in Japan

MSC Cruises is the first international line that operates in Japan to receive a health and safety certification from the country’s official maritime classification society ClassNK, a major step toward the line’s operational restart in the country scheduled for April 2021. To be the first international cruise line in Japan to be awarded this key certification of compliance is a further testament to our robust and rigorous health and safety protocol which led the way for the entire global industry when in August we became the first major line to resume cruise operation in the Mediterranean,” said Onorato. We believe, therefore, that this certification – in a country where the industry was at the centre of much attention very early in the pandemic – and the confirmation by authorities in Italy through their latest ministerial decree that cruising can continue, will go a long way to demonstrate the trust that we have been able to build with the protocol’s effective measures and their rigorous application for the benefit of guests, crew and the communities we serve.” European classification society RINA last month awarded MSC Cruises with its biosafe ship additional class notation for the line’s flagship MSC Grandiosa which is currently operating in the Mediterranean Sea. The additional measures include the following: * Additional on-board antigen testing for COVID-19 of all guests mid-way through their cruise which are on top of the existing pre-boarding universal testing for all guests;

Windstar Star Breeze cruise ship stretching adds 50 suites

Windstar Star Breeze stretching is complete and the project added 50 suites, two new restaurants, a larger pool and deck, spa and expanded public areas. Before the work, the Star Breeze was 134 meters long, 10,000 tons and had capacity for 212 guests. While the COVID-19 pandemic shifted completion timelines for the  renovations, nothing was cut from the scope of work and the original plans got back on track. In addition to the original scope of work included in the initiative, Windstar announced an additional investment in its fleet to add HEPA filters with UV-C lights into each ship’s HVAC system.

Silversea unveils interiors of new Silver Moon cruise ship

Silversea Cruises unveils the first glimpses of Silver Moon’s interiors — the ninth ship in the cruise line’s ultra-luxury fleet. From our new S. A.L.T. ecosystem, which will enable travellers to delve deeper into destinations through the lens of food and drink, to the enriched public spaces, the enhancements aboard Silver Moon symbolize a refinement of Silversea’s already ultra-luxury cruise experience. And, with bespoke, handcrafted luxury beds by Savoir enriching the ship’s top 10 suites — four Owner’s Suites, four Grand Suites, and two Royal Suites — guests in these accommodations will experience a distinctive level of comfort even as they sleep. Serving fine French cuisine in an elegant atmosphere, Silversea’s signature restaurant, La Dame, will also enjoy a new design aboard Silver Moon, enlarged to accommodate 56 guests.
