Greetings! I strive to make cooking and wine less intimidating for all! I love creating fun and new recipes for cookers of all levels. As a wine lover, I remember being overwhelmed by all the extensive wine lingo. I share weekly wine terms, provide wine/winery recommendations, and help expert and novice wine lovers improve their wine knowledge.

Lately I’ve been getting out more and trying some local fan-favorites in Sandy Springs. I was told that Okiboru HAD to be on my must-try list and I totally see why. The ramen noodles were made from scratch, the team was so nice, and the price didn’t break the bank 💰 I ordered their Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, a best seller with thin noodles and rich creamy pork broth served piping hot. I literally had to stop myself from bringing the bowl to my face and guzzling down the flavorful broth🍜It was delish! @okiboru_atl My friend tried their Paitain Tsukemen, which previously received the Michelin Bib Gourmand award ( LA location). She enjoyed the dipping ramen but noted she needed a little extra spice kick and will likely order their Spicy Paitain Tsukemen next time. 🥟For starters, I would absolutely recommend their Crispy Gyoza and Shoyu Brussels. Zero complaints both were 10/10 🍸 I would’ve liked for their Lychee martini to be a tad stronger, it was a bit too sweet for my personal preference. Okiboru is def a great casual spot for flavor-packed ramen. Okiboru has numerous locations in and around Atlanta, don’t just take my word for it, def check em out! Tonight’s Dinner? Keeping it flavorful and light. My Grilled Fiesta Salmon is easy to make and super flavorful. I love serving alongside grilled bell peppers, black beans, and homemade mango and corn salsa👩🏽‍🍳Seriously, can’t miss with that combo. Paired with a nice glass of Verdejo or Sauvignon Blanc, perfect pairing 🥂 Recipe for One: 1. Mix 1 tsp chili-lime seasoning powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp cumin, zest from half a lime, and 1/2 tsp seasoning salt. Set aside. 2. Squeeze the juice of half of the lime onto 1/2 pound of skinless salmon. Pat dry. 3. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture on both sides of the salmon until evenly coated. 4. Cook on a lightly oiled grill over high heat for 6-8 minutes or it reaches your desired doneness. 5. Top with mango and corn salsa and serve alongside rice and grilled vegetables. Beginners Guide: Chardonnay

On the other hand, Chardonnay produced in stainless steel tanks, or Unoaked Chardonnays are a bit more bright, fruity,  and crisp. ’s are bit bolder and can handle bolder dishes with herbs,  heavy creamy sauces, toasted notes, grilled meats,  and aged cheeses. An helpful over simplification that I use is  that  Chardonnay’s pair well with lighter or white food items. Chardonnay is an extremely popular white dry wine that can be purchased anywhere wine is sold.

Wine Headaches: Culprits, Cures, and Myths

Do you tend to get wine headaches after drinking red wines? Cure/ Recommendation: Stick to white wines or wines with lower tannin levels. Do you tend to get headaches after drinking white wines? It was once said that cheaper wines have extra additives, such as sugar but expensive wines can also have sugar and other additives.

Best wine pairings for the holidays

One of  the most basic tips of wine pairing is lighter wines should pair with lighter meat. The above dishes are just some of my family’s holiday favorites. Please keep in mind that’s its nearly impossible to find a wine that pairs perfectly with each dish served for holidays. What wines do you pair your holiday dishes with?

Beginners Guide: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular dry red wine that is known for its full-body, medium- acidity,  and relatively high ABV% (13-15%). Common flavors and aromas of  Cabernet Sauvignon include dark red fruits such as plums, cherries, and red berries or even bell peppers . Additional pairing recommendations include cheeses made from cow’s milk and dark fruits such as plums, cherries, or other red berries. Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular red wine that can be found at most places wine is sold.
