Birthday beach fun! Happy Birthday Jono!

Gosh I love living in New Zealand, but I love being above it even more! 0 active cases of Covid and back in the skies. What better way to start the first day of Level 1! Onwards and upwards my friends! ✈️🏔💙 #newzealand #southernalps #canterbury #christchurch #southisland #mustseenz #airnewzealand #level1 #covidfree @airnz #airnzshareme

This black square is not about muting. It is not the time to be silent. It is the time to show we care, to speak up and to call out racism. Almost weekly I find myself telling someone, we do not talk like that anymore. We never should have, but the excuse of ‘your generation’ is no longer valid. Not only do I care, I vow to be the generation that raises a better generation. 🖤#blackouttuesday

Freedom.....................💛 . As New Zealand enters Alert Level 2, we have been given back some of our Freedom. . ✅Freedom to venture out beyond our neighbourhoods . ✅Freedom to visit family and friends (in maximum groups of 10) . ✅Freedom to return to work/school/restaurants/malls and beauty salons . ✅Freedom to travel anywhere within New Zealand . . Although looking back on our lockdown, the word freedom got me thinking.....while we had restrictions placed upon us, we had so much freedom. Unlike other crises either in the the past or happening now in other countries that put people in lockdown situations. We had: . 💛Freedom to spend unlimited hours with our children . 💛Freedom to safely roam our neighbourhood (and not worry about an attack like my Grandfather did during World War Two) . 💛Freedom of no schedule . 💛Freedom to educate our children, whether they are boys or girls, and teach them our own beliefs . 💛Freedom of a democracy . . Our first outing beyond our suburb was to a hike in the hills in Christchurch, where there are remains of a military coastal defence battery and gun emplacements, built to defend New Zealand of a surprise attack during World War Two. So despite now being given back our freedom, we showed the kids where a different kind of freedom was protected and fought for in different times. . . . I am grateful for both types of freedom we have recently experienced. What is freedom for you? What different kinds of freedom do you have in you lockdown/isolation situations? Have many/any restrictions been lifted yet, or were there not so many for you? . . 💛🌎🌍🌏 #freedom #lockdown #isolation #covid19 #corona #leveltwo #backyourbackyard #travel #travelnz #travelnewzealand #grateful #worldwartwo #godleyhead #crater #porthills #canterbury #nzsouthisland #christchurch

Lockdown has had its ups and downs, but this lot makes me happy every day! Jono and the kids made me this video for Mother’s Day here in NZ today. 😍🥰 . Favourite bits: Bodie “Thank you for letting me in this life” 😭 (I’m not crying, you’re crying) Jono: Getting the tin thrown in his face and his truthful expression of what life and working with kids can be like! 😯 . I’m finding the positives in these challenging times. One being that while I can not fly around the world with work right now, there was no stress and doubt about possibly missing out on being home on Mother’s Day. ✈️ . #mothersday #lockdown #isolation #family #luckymummy

Who here has flown on Virgin Australia? ✈️ . I’ve only mentioned on here a few times that I am Cabin Crew for Virgin Australia. If anyone was wondering how we manage to travel so much, here’s the answer! 🌎 Like so many of you - travel is my life! I’ve been in the industry of 18 years, and been flying with Virgin for 13! . I always said I’ll fly until I no longer can. I did not expect a virus to be our downfall. Like so many airlines around the world right now, without government funding Virgin may not survive. 😢 After talks with the Australian government last night, the decision on our Airline, our jobs, our lifestyle (and our future family travel opportunities) is imminent. 🤞🙏 . There has been a lot of talk about Virgin’s foreign ownership, therefore some of the public aren’t as supportive. The reality is most companies today have foreign ownership, however the 10,000+ staff that put their heart and soul into working for Virgin are all Australian’s paying Australian taxes. Without Virgin Australia, there will be a monopoly in our skies. Airfares in Australia have decreased by 37% since we started flying, keeping the air fair and making it affordable for you and your families to fly! ✈️ . Year after year we win the best Cabin Crew awards, year after year we give up special family moments, to take you on yours! ❤️ . So have you flown on Virgin Australia? I might have even been lucky enough to look after you on board. I sure hope I get the privilege to do it again one day! . . 📸 Photo with my beautiful cousin, it’s not just a job, it’s a family 💕 . . #virginaustralia #virginaustraliacabincrew #onecrew #virginfamily #saveaviation #savevirgin #scottmorrison #keeptheairfair #keeptheairfare

This is me. Rebecca. I have been really quiet on here lately. Honestly I’ve been trying to decide if I just need a break from all of this. . So much has happened in the last week, that I can’t even keep up with my own thoughts, let alone a family travel account, when I’m currently not with my family, and can no longer travel. Not even for work. . Upon my return to NZ last Friday, my family and friends decided it was best that I self-isolate alone for fourteen days, as I had been in LA and Australia. NZ was, and still is ahead of the game in winning this war against COVID-19. I however was a week behind, with the rest of the world, in my mindset. Being an International Flight Attendant, I was told I was exempt from self-isolation and I just wanted to go home to my babies! . Well, I’m eight days in, and now know 100% that New Zealand and my family were right! Yes, it’s been hard to be isolated alone, but I find comfort in the fact that I have kept my husband, my children, my parents and grandparents safe. I am contributing to eliminating this virus in NZ. . I have been stood down from my job. My dream job for the last 13 years, that enables me to travel and explore our beautiful world. However I know that Earth needs a break from us humans. The Earth needs to heal. Relationships and Humanity need to heal. I feel that we are given the opportunity to do this now. So let’s not sit in pity and feel hard done by, let’s take the time to reflect and reconnect. I’m not discounting your feelings. Feel ALL the feels. I sure did! Take the time to process all this. Then when you can hug your family, do whatever you can, you must to help the whole world recover and get through this. It was hard to write this, and be so raw. Most of our feed is through rose filtered glasses. Many people have said to me lately how perfect our lives look. At a time like this we need to be honest, we need to show that you are not alone. We struggle, we fight, we cry, but we can get through this! . How are you doing? . 💛🌎🌏🌍 #weareallinthistogether #wearetheworld #covid_19 #coronavirus #selfisolation #selfquarantine #letsdothis #newzealand #reality #honest #mothernature #stooddown #ruok #stayhome

Our last post and our stories are all about Wainui Falls in Golden Bay. Here are a few more tips and facts: . 💦 They are the most accessible falls in the Abel Tasman National Park from the Golden Bay Area. . 🚘The drive from Takaka town is less than 30 mins, with beautiful Pohara Beach with black sand, and Tata Beach with Golden Sand on the way! . 🚶‍♀️It is an easy track, just over 1.5km (approx 1 mile) each way. It is stroller accessible for the most part. There are a few narrow parts, so hold the little ones hands on these sections. . 🏊‍♀️If you like cold refreshing water you can find lovely calm swimming holes to cool off in, or picnic by. . If you want to do the Abel Tasman, but aren’t quite ready to tackle the multi-day hike with kids, then do this as a quick intro, and to experience some of the track. . Don’t forget to bookmark this post if you are planning a Golden Bay/Abel Tasman trip. If you have any other questions ask away in the comments. . . #wainuifalls #abeltasmannationalpark #abeltasman #ilovenelsontasman #goldenbay #takaka #nzsouthisland #nzmustdo #nzmustsee #southislandproud #stufftravelnz #purenewzealand #destinationnz #nzroadtrip #travel #familytravel #travellingfamily #tatabeach #poharabeach #hikewithkids #traveltips #outdoorkidsnz @ilovenelsontasman @abeltasmannz @poharabeachtop10 @stufftravelnz @chasingsummerfamily #runwildmychild #macspresets #travelgainers

This day was Jono’s birthday! It was back in January, but with that time of year being so busy we are way behind in posting! Most years on Jono’s birthday we are away. Here, we are at Wainui Falls in the Abel Tasman National Park. He’s also spent it in Australia a few times, Fiji twice and also at a friends wedding!! It’s the season for celebrating right!! . 🎉 . Being the New Zealand Summer holidays and just after Christmas, finding the time and 💰to get his gift can be a bit tricky!! Sorry babe!! At least he can always count on one thing, he gets all of us with him all day every year!! Besides, presence is the best present right??!!😊 . We were lucky enough to have my Dad and his partner join us for a few days on this camping trip, so the two of us snuck away for a quick beach stroll together while the Grandparents played with the kids! 💛 . Is your birthday sometimes overshadowed by a holiday? Come to think of it, Lola’s in just after NZ’s Waitangi Day, mine and Summer’s is right after Guy Fawkes and Bodie’s occasionally falls on Easter!! Or have you spent it in some awesome places? 🌎 . . #travel #birthday #travelfamily #familytravel #wainuifalls #ilovenelsontasman #abeltasman #adventurefamily #stufftravelnz #nzmustdo #nzmustsee #destinationnz #nzsouthisland

While in Golden Bay, NZ we visited Te Waikoropupu Springs, or simply Pupu Springs. . 💧 . These stunning springs are so clear that they hold the world record for horizontal visibility in fresh water at 63 metres. . 🔍 . Sounds like a diver’s dream. We do have friends who were lucky enough to dive here, however due to protecting the Springs and the eco-system divers are no longer permitted. In fact you are not even allowed to touch the freezing 11 degree water. I think it is so great that the NZ Department of Conservation has rejected many commercialisation proposals. . 💦 . Te Waikoropupu named by the local Maori tribe means “bubbling water”. Watching the Springs bubble as they pump out the equivalent of 40 full bathtubs of water per second was mesmerising. The Springs are a treasure to the Maori and all New Zealanders, they are a sacred place and in Maori culture have been a place of ceremonial blessings at times of birth and death and the leaving and returning if travellers! . . We hoped you enjoyed your geology and cultural lesson today, brought to you by @chasingsummerfamily 😂 For more and to hear Lola’s perfect pronunciation of the Springs, stay tuned to our stories later today.... . Where in the world is the clearest water you have ever seen?? 🌎 . #tewaikoropupusprings #pupusprings #naturalsprings #takaka #goldenbay #nzsouthisland #nzmustdo #nzmustsee #abeltasman #stufftravelnz #nzwithme #purenewzealand #travelnewzealand #visitnz #gottalovenz #destinationnz #travelinspiration #newzealandguide #explorenz #newzealandnatural #newzealandfinds #nzroadtrip #kiwiexperience #maoriculture @ilovenelsontasman @purenewzealand @stufftravelnz @greatsightsnz

Freedom 💛 This Summer we spent a lot of time camping. The best part about it was giving the kids freedom of their own to learn and roam. I have many childhood memories with my parents, but really remember the independence I was given to be free, make my own decisions and sometimes get lost. It’s in these moments that we learn so much. Independence, resilience and who we are. . . These days it’s not as common to let your kids roam the streets until the lamp post lights come on, but while camping @poharabeachtop10 we could be so much more relaxed with the kids. We particularly loved that the beach was shallow for miles, so that Summer and her cousin could safely run off without us hovering over them! They sure loved it too! 🏝 Is camping and letting your kids roam freely your thing? 🏕 #travel #travelfamily #camping #roam #kidswhoroam #poharabeach #independantkids #takaka #ilovenelsontasman #abeltasman #raisethemwild #nzmustsee #nzsouthisland #tasman #stufftravelnz #nzwithme #nzmustdo @poharabeachtop10 #macspresets #travelgainers
