For most of us that means putting on our PJS, grabbing a favorite beverage like hot cocoa, turning on a holiday classic movie and maybe popping some popcorn. Not only do I love watching this classic but its served up best with a fire in the fireplace, the Christmas tree lit up, a couple of candles flickering away, a nice cup of hot chocolate or cold glass of milk, and my Merry Christmas cookies. This recipe has seen me through lean years and good years, kids growing up, grandchildren being born and hopefully through to our great grandchildren to come. But if you’re like me and don’t want to bake the cookies right away, you can wrap them up and freeze.
Family outings or date night doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun and memorable. Pack a simple lunch from sandwiches and fruit to something more complex, but don’t forget the board games and a blanket to bundle up if necessary. A walk around the neighborhood is nice, but if you have hiking trails nearby, this is a great way to get out and exercise while enjoying the great outdoors. But to lessen the workload, the price of food, and the time involved with a busy lifestyle to host a dinner, think progressive instead.
