Inspired By This

This fun couple let their personality shine by writing their ceremony from start to finish, serving up brick oven pizzas, and dancing the night away surrounded by friends and family. We ended up getting married in the midst of the biggest heat wave in Sonoma county, so the night before our wedding, we scrambled to make 150 programs that doubled as fans for our guests to use during the ceremony. We got married on opening day of football season, and both of our families are huge football fans, so we surprised them with our grand entrance song as the NFL theme song. Our final song of the night was “Friends in low places” by Garth Brooks, and everyone on the dance floor was singing all of the words, dancing arm in arm.

I was from Massachusetts and Deryk from Oregon and we both wound up attending a small university in Fairfield, CT for the school’s physical therapy program. It wasn’t long before I knew that Deryk was a man I wouldn’t be able to live without. The card had an image of a hot air balloon on the front and the inside of the card read, “ The next thing I knew, Deryk was on one knee asking me to marry him and of course I said “yes!
