While I love to travel, which means I do consume jet fuel, I try to balance that out in other ways. For example, my six-year-old car only has 28,000 miles on it (so, not a ton of driving!), I don't eat land meat, and I rarely eat fish, ensuring it's sustainable when I do. I'm also very focused on minimizing plastic use, especially single-use plastics. Bee's Wrap, bowl covers, and glass containers are my go-to options. Additionally, I buy my produce from a local CSA and make sure to use everything up, embracing seasonal eating which I truly enjoy. . This year's goal is to be more involved in my local 'Buy Nothing' group & reduce my plastic use even more. Die plastic die. Happy Earth Day! Artichoke season is here and we're diving in headfirst with pots full of these delicious treats. I like to trim and clean out the choke part before serving - So much easier to eat that way! After the steamed artichoke has cooled a bit, I drizzle on garlic olive oil and a little flake salt. Martha's Grove Trail in Poway is currently green with lots of little water crossings. This is a great time of year to go! Watch out for the poison oak & as always it's snakey season.
