Yesterday someone told me if I prioritized Boomer more, I wouldn’t be traveling so much for work and would spend more time with him. This completely baffled me for numerous reasons : when is it ok to tell someone on the internet how they should live their life? How they should work and how much or how little they should travel? If you know anything at all about me, you know my world revolves around Boomer (so much so that I’ve gotten opposite hate messages about how I love my dog more than my husband and it’s “disgusting”) I work hard because I want to. I travel because I want to. I make sure that Boomer is well taken care of in my absence. Dan provides Boomer with so much care and love, he more than makes up for me not being around. I miss both Dan and Boomer incredibly when I travel, but there’s other facets to my life I want to grow and develop that bring out my identity to more than being a “dog mom”. It’s incredibly limiting to me to be boxed into one identity when I’m just starting out my adult life and exploring what I want to do with it and who I want to become. Stop putting your limitations on others, especially strangers you don’t even know on the internet. Be a better human and stay out of other’s business. Have any of you experienced others putting limitations on your identity or the way you live your life?
