When it comes to food I consume, you know your girl eats clean and reads those ingredient labels! But years ago, I started becoming more aware of other products I use and started to make some major changes with items lining my vanity tray. I’ve been using Fluoride-free toothpaste for years (you can research on your own to understand why) and I’m very particular with finding a good brand that not only is safe but also tastes great, has a good consistency and is reasonably priced. I’ve been using @getwhitebirch for 2 weeks now and must say this is one of my favorites! It’s easy to get (thanks Prime), has a soft minty taste, requires just a touch to foam and doesn’t leave a nasty aftertaste. Also, this is the first natural toothpaste I’ve found that also WHITENS! Since I’m a drinker of black coffee, I’m in need of more sparkly whites— and this one does not bother my sensitive teeth. I’m hoping by the end of this month they’re shinier and a bit whiter! What other skincare or beauty products would you like me to review next?!

Ohh hiii 👋🏼 We’re halfway through January and I haven’t even had a moment to give you a life update. This year started with taking care of my partner who got sick right before the new year. As many of you girls know, he was ill and I was taking care of him while isolated in our bedroom. It was quite an adjustment caring for my man.... sanitizing everything every 25 minutes all while taking on the task of new classes with the launch of my beginner program the first week of January. I wasn’t sleeping, I was overwhelmed and worried but extremely thankful that his symptoms were mild and grateful that he’s all better now. My angels must’ve been watching out for me because I managed to stay healthy through it all. As I wrap up this week, I’m writing to you from my couch— horizontal and hungry waiting for dinner to finish cooking (he’s roasting chicken and sweet potatoes with sautéed spinach). 11 classes done this week and I just finished it off with this weeks beautiful restorative yoga hip opener with @chichisarita which I needed SOO much. It feels so good to move my body, change my moods with a workout and feeding off the energy in live Zoom classes but sometimes what a girl needs is a blanket, a glass of red and a day off ahead. How are you doing at this halfway point of the month? Are you as motivated now as you were the first of the month? Are you feeling more energy and inspired or are you back into old patterns? No matter where your at.. I’m wishing you health, love and abundance. Happy Friday babes 💕

Have you found yourself making New Years resolutions every year going ALL IN for a few days, weeks or months? By the time April rolls around you’re disappointed in yourself and this def isn’t the right mindset that’s going to get you where you want to be. Last year on this day, I made a cute little vision board of many things that aligned with me that I wanted to fulfill (emotionally, in relationships, self-care, career, etc.) in the coming year. I put the paper on my mirror in my bedroom so I saw it EVERY DAY, multiple times a day. I read at least 3-4 things from there throughout the day. This was my inspiration, the words (you can also use pictures) imprinted in my head and subconsciously the actions I took on a daily basis reflected these visions. And guess what? This past year was abundant in growth, transformation, love and self-worth and I owe a majority of it to my visions. So, instead of setting yourself up for the inevitable... try something new. For example, if your resolution is to drop a few pounds... why don’t you start with the approach of “I want to feel more confident”, “I’m going to eat well and give my body what it needs to thrive”, “I’m going to dedicate one day a week to prepare food in advance”, “I’m going to do something I enjoy to get more movement everyday”. Line up your game plan, see the reminders and do this for YOU. Let’s ring in this new year with no more losses... let’s gain of some self love and confidence 🌟 because you 👏🏻 got 👏🏻 this !

I have to say, this time last year I was absolutely EXHAUSTED. I was running around teaching 13 classes a week (mostly back to back), doing private sessions AND squeezing in my own workouts. Everyday I came home, the only thing I could do was lay horizontal as long as possible, just to do it again the following day. I had one day off from teaching and I wasn’t even able to run errands because I was so beat. When quarantine first hit in March and gyms closed (which we all thought at the time would be two weeks), I first felt relief that I would give my body a break. I took walks since the weather was getting nicer and I finally was able to take the rest my body so desperately craved. Two weeks later and I was FREAKING the F*CK out when there was no foreseeable date in the future gyms would be allowed to reopen in NY. Teaching/ training is my full time job and I hustled my ass off to make it work. I have a home to upkeep, bills due every month and a mother to support. That alone kept me up every night, but I MISSED teaching. After my first live IGTV class I hosted in March for a studio I worked in, I came alive. I remember being so nervous (I still get nervous before live classes) but I work better under pressure and it felt SO good to be able to encourage movement of other women along with me. But teaching 1 or 2 classes once a week wasn’t going to pay my bills and it wasn’t enough for me. I took a shot in the dark and started BxB SWEAT @ HOME April 19th. FF 8 months later and I can truly say that I feel STRONGER and more ENERGIZED than I’ve felt in my 33 years around the sun. The workouts are structured in the way that I KNOW will provide results and leave us feeling confident, strong, powerful and never bored! And although I say THANK YOU to the women who support me everyday— THANK YOU, 2020 for showing me my worth without having to grind my ass into the floor everyday. THANK YOU to all who’ve welcomed me into your home through this wild ride. THANK YOU to the ones who never believed in me. THANK YOU, body, for all you’ve done. THANK YOU for the connections I’ve been able to make with SO many of you. THANK YOU for changing this year for me, and for you.❣️

The best gift I could ever receive this year was the gift of being able to connect and move with you all this past year. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the love and support from you girls and my big guy by my side. The love you have poured into my life this year has truly changed me forever. I hope you are as proud of yourself as I am of you. ❤️

OK, so 12 years ago to date, my life drastically changed. In the *literal* blink of an eye, my life was almost taken from me. I was leaving work early that night, walked out of the office and BOOM. 💥 A stray dog ran up to me and begun attacking me. It grabbed a hold of my foot and locked its jaw. As this dog proceeded to drag me through a dark and desolate parking lot, I was eventually able to lean onto the back of a car while I continued to scream, cry and panic that this was how I was going to die. At the time, I was 2 years clean of a substance abuse addiction. What helped me cope with my stressors was a routine of yoga DVD’s and running 8 miles a day. I’d battled with depression and panic attacks since a child who survived abuse and I never really understood my reason of living. I would do things purposely that I knew would harm my body bc I hated it so much for what it’d put me through. And here I was, face to face with fighting for my life. I fought. I held on during the most unbearable, excruciating physical pain I’ve ever experienced. I was rescued. It really sucked to feel weak and helpless for 3 months being immobile. But I was DETERMINED to fight for what saved me and NEVER stopped since then to keep myself strong and ready for the fight called life which we never know where it will take us. Fitness SAVED my life time and time again. It saved me when I fought addiction. When I needed the endorphin boost after being chronically depressed. When I needed the core strength and stability to balance and hop on my less-dominant leg through a parking lot with a dog dragging me through it. If it wasn’t for this day, I would’ve never looked for a low impact spin class years later. I would’ve never became an instructor and I wouldn’t have been able to help change other people’s lives through movement if I didn’t experience that. Call me crazy, but I’d go through it all again. Appreciate what your body and your mind can do - pain is temporary but strength is your power and you CAN find it. Finding Your Strength

What helped keep me clean and cope with my stressors was a routine I developed of yoga DVD’s and running 8 miles a day on my treadmill at home. I couldn’t believe that my foot was still attached to my body with the pressure from the dog gripping onto my entire foot. Every single day was a struggle but there was nothing I looked forward to more than the day I was able to go for a jog, which was as soon as I was able to walk again that March. Saved me when I needed the core strength and stability to balance and hop on my less-dominant leg through a parking lot with a dog dragging me through it by my foot.

I got jimica wraps for the first time at @traderjoes and officially obsessed! My first meal yesterday for brunch were these cute, quick, easy + delicious egg and green tacos so I needed to share! Heat a small skillet over medium heat. Sauté greens (I used arugula) until wilted. Remove from pan and set aside. Toast the jimica wraps on both sides in the skillet. Mash avocado on the wrap, add wilted greens and top with an egg. I added chia for fiber and crunch. Pink salt and pepper to top. Enjoy!

This was my Monday morning mood today after Arms + Abs although my arms were still trembling post-class. I’ve been feeling exhausted lately because a lack of sleep has been catching up with me, but I’m not going to beat myself up over it. Instead, I put in my 100% effort and I got it done. I won the mind battle and killed my workout. I say it all the time... as long as the mind can envision the fact that you CAN do something, you WILL do it. As long as you really believe 100%.

We all know that big things come in small packages, but keep in mind that big changes come from small steps and the act of BEGINNING. To start comes with a decision. Your mindset will turn that decision into a habit. Habits will create a system. A system that’s going to elevate you to reach the big thing. What are you reaching for? Get SPECIFIC with your goals so you can turn your efforts into a win. #mindsetshift #goalsetting #fitnessmotivation #healthymindset #accountability #setgoals #startsmall #reachhigher #bxb #zoomfitness

After I’ve woken up, drank my water and made my coffee in a French press, check my emails and plan my work day... I jump into a cold shower. Yep, I said it! I first take a warm water body shower, flick the hot water off and rinse under cold water for about one minute. When I first started this routine about a year ago, I remember barely making it 15 seconds, but like with everything, time improved my resistance to the cold water and I can’t begin my day without one! Cold showers have SO many health benefits and it really helps to wake me up and increase my circulation before I start my class. I’m more alert, my body matches my caffeinated brain and I’m ready to go! After I break my sweat, I take my normal shower (usually washing my hair if it’s a cardio day) and add another cold rinse when I’m done. Here’s why I highly recommend you try one: ✔️ wakes you up ✔️ increases your bodies circulation ✔️ reduces muscle soreness ✔️ potentially boosts weight loss ✔️ leaves your hair and skin glowing 🚿 Are you also a fan of cold showers? Are you willing to give them a try?
