I am the creator and owner of a popular dental and lifestyle page called “Blondeandtoothy” on instagram with 17,000 followers. The page documents the life and interests of a typical dental student, through the eyes of a dental student. I also promote proper oral hygiene by posting informative content about dentistry. Although the page is specifically about dentistry, my account targets anyone interested in the healthcare professional field, for example: dentists, dental students at schools across the United States, pre-dental students, as well as students in other healthcare professional fields (Dental hygienists, nurses, doctors, pharmacists etc). My page is also viewed by many non-health professionals, who are genuinely interested in improving their oral health. I am passionate about using my platform to inspire and motivate young professional women to pursue their dreams, whether that is in their careers or in their personal lives. I also collaborate with dental, fashion and beauty brands that I love and stand through in-feed post advertisements. My account resonates with the dental industry, as my content is geared specifically towards that space, and I have a high rate of engagement. While working with brands, I find creative ways to incorporate products I stand for. Most importantly, my followers provide authentic feedback to the posts I publish.

Yes its true!! as oral health advocates, we are taught to educate patients on the benefits of fluoride and while fluoride absolutely does offer many benefits to protecting and remineralizing enamel, it actually isn’t necessary for your oral hygiene routine, and you CAN have great oral hygiene without fluoride as long as you are diligent about brushing twice daily for two minutes each time, flossing regularly and rinsing after flossing to flush out the gunk and residue you just disrupted. 🌟📍 Remember - the purpose of brushing in itself is to remove the residual food and plaque on your teeth and below the gumline that accumulated during the day and then while you sleep. Whenever leftover food is not properly removed every day - the bacteria come in and feast on it which causes cavities, and the plaque along the gum line is what causes inflamed gums and gum disease. There are ingredients out there that are beneficial for your oral health without fluoride or alcohol. @naturesanswer has an awesome line of PerioBrite products that contain fantastic ingredients to support oral health without fluoride, artificial preservatives, or flavors. Their mouthwash and toothpaste help target germs and bad breath with ingredients including xylitol, which is known to help promote saliva production and is helpful in preventing bad breath! 💚🌿 #naturaltoothpaste #herbalmedicine #herbalife #herbalremedies #fluoride #fluoridefree #dentistry #dentaltips #naturaltoothpaste #naturaloralcare #fluorideispoison

Here is something that NEEDS to be said about using manual toothbrushes… while they are considered the best method for brushing when using the proper technique, most people use them incorrectly. Because we have no indication of the amount of pressure we are applying while brushing, and many of us think that brushing harder is more effective, We just end up brushing too hard and this can be terrible for your teeth. And many of us are indeed guilty of this - including myself!! 🙋🏻‍♀️ ❌ Applying too much force while brushing can cause enamel to erode, exposing more dentin and causing sensitivity. ❌ Whenever you remove more white enamel, and expose more yellowish dentin - this causes the appearance of the teeth to become more yellow and this is IRREVERSIBLE. ❌ When you apply too much force while brushing, it can cause your gums to bleed and become inflamed and irritated. While massaging the gums can prevent gum disease, scrubbing them with a brush can actually be the culprit for gum disease. If you still are not ready to let go of your manual toothbrush, I suggest trying the @brightworksproducts battery operated sonic toothbrush. These are available in a two pack on Amazon Prime, delivers next day and is very affordable. The design of this brush does not stray away from the design of a typical manual toothbrush, because it looks, feels and is handled exactly the same way, but the ultrasonic vibrations that are built into it help disrupt stubborn plaque on enamel so you don’t feel like you have to brush as hard to see an effect. Some additional features of this brush are: ⭐️ the bristles are so soft - medium or hard bristles are too abrasive on enamel and irritate/inflame the gums. ⭐️ It has a tongue scraper built in on the back of the brush ⭐️ the brush head is the perfect size to cover each tooth’s surface area. ⭐️ Very compact, cordless and perfect for travel #dentistry #dentalproducts #dentistryworld #dentalhygiene #dentaloffice #electrictoothbrush #toothbrush #toothgems #toothfairy #whitesmile #oralcare #oralhygiene #brushyourteeth #brushingteeth

There is one secret that the oral care industry does NOT want you to know. Most mouthwashes you see in drug stores contain an alcohol (specifically ethanol) which cause that initial burning sensation, and also bring an unpleasant taste and dryness of the mouth. Aside from burning sensations, the alcohol in mouthwash also destroys almost all the bacteria in your mouth – both the bad AND good bacteria. I’ll say this again and again: killing 99% of bacteria should never be your goal and killing all the bacteria in the mouth can disrupt your oral microbiome and cause nasty effects such as dry mouth and bad breath. It’s so important to look for mouthwashes that contain no alcohol, but rather contains ingredients that moisturize the mouth and promote a healthy Microbiome. I love Nature’s Answer’s Periobrite because its an herbal mouthwash formulated by a dentist that contains xylitol, which is a natural sweetener that has been proven to stimulate salivary flow, which is very helpful in preventing cavities, nourishing the gums, and keeping the mouth moist. The mouthwash is also made with refreshing herbs, Co-Q10, Folic Acid, Oregano, Cinnamon and Clove - which is anti-inflammatory and helps support tissue and gum health. I also love that it is cruelty free, has no artificial flavors or preservatives and is vegan. @naturesanswer #fluoridefree #coq10 #mouthwash #mouthrinse #dentalproducts #dentalstudent #dentistry #oralhealth #oralhygiene #dentalhygiene #dentalhygienist #fluoride #fluoridepoison #dentistryworld #xylitol #herbalmedicine #herbalremedies #gums

It is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do, like sweat through another workout or tell a toxic friend you don’t want to see them anymore or get a second job so you can have a savings account or figure out a way to accept yourself so that you’re not constantly exhausted from trying to be everything, all the time and then needing to take deliberate, mandated breaks from living to do basic things like drop some oil into a bath and read Marie Claire and turn your phone off for the day. True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you do If you find yourself having to regularly indulge in consumer self-care, it’s because you are disconnected from actual self-care, which has very little to do with “treating yourself” and a whole lot do with parenting yourself and making choices for your long-term wellness. It is learning how to stop trying to “fix yourself” and start trying to take care of yourself… and maybe finding that taking care lovingly attends to a lot of the problems you were trying to fix in the first place.

Hyperdontia is an oral condition characterised by having an excess number of #teeth. The standard number of primary teeth is 20 and the standard number of permanent teeth is 32. A person who develops more than 20 primary teeth or more than 32 permanent teeth has hyperdontia. The prevalence of hyperdontia is between 1% and 4% of the population with a male to female ratio of 2:1; the majority of cases are limited to a single tooth.
