Does Pixsy Work? Automagic Copyright Protection That Pays

Pixsy is a third party copyright protection service that scans the web for unauthorized use of your work and facilitates a claim process to get you paid. The entire Pixsy process is as hands-off and easy as can possibly be for photographers to be able to recover revenue from the unauthorized commercial use of their work, and I have no complaints about Pixsy whatsoever. The entire Pixsy process is as hands-off and easy as can possibly be for photographers to be able to recover revenue from the unauthorized commercial use of their work A free Pixsy account is well worth the 15 minutes you’ll spend getting set up and reviewing initial matches, and yes, they absolutely deliver on their promise to get photographers paid.

Where to Find Free Stock Photos for Your Blog and Social Media Posts — Legally!

Full disclosure: I don’t use stock photos often— the vast majority of photos I use on my blog are my own work. To avoid getting in hot water for improper attribution or copyright violations, you need to make sure that you have permission to use the images you’re incorporating into your content. While giving credit to the creator isn’t required when you use an image from these platforms, attribution is an excellent acknowledge artists’ hard work (example below)— while earning some karma points, to boot! Still, they deserve a spot on this list because they make it super easy to quickly find free-to-use stock photo gems across multiple platforms.

Hudson Valley Gardens: Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers

The City of Yonkers owns this public park, and the admirable folks who maintain it are with the non-profit organization, Untermyer Gardens Conservancy. Not surprising at all, considering Samuel Untermyer’s directive for his landscape architect to build “the greatest gardens in the world”. If you’re in the mood for a little more scandal, a touch of sauciness, and a dose of horror with your history today check out the Fodor’s Travel feature on Untermyer Gardens: The Secret Satanic History of New York City’s Untermyer Gardens. In its heyday, Greystone was the definition of opulence— lavish to a level that surprised Samuel Untermyer’s peers and the press and even made the city to whom he bequeathed it balk at his gift.
