Going to market is crucial to understanding what’s out there and knowing everyone’s quality and what they have to offer. ⠀⠀ Here’s the gut punch this year: HPMKT also happens every Spring. ⠀⠀ Except.....this year. As in, this week. 😢 ⠀⠀ For the first time since World War II, High Point Market has been canceled. 😔 ⠀⠀ I can’t even begin to tell you all that aren’t in the industry what a massive impact this will have on ALL of the furniture, rug, art, etc. companies that show there and also the actual town of High Point and surrounding cities. They rely on this twice-a-year event, on the tourism side that brings thousands of designers and buyers to town and the actual furniture factory side. (Because we all know some of the best furniture is made right there in North Carolina.) It honestly breaks my heart when I personally know some of these owners and leaders out there. ⠀⠀ Anyway...I took a tangent route there, but it’s very close to my heart. ❤️ I’m hoping we can get back there in October as usual. I am not missing a lot of things about BC life (Before COVID), but one thing I miss is touring the interiors of homes in person. ⠀⠀ I took this pic in the very last home I walked through over a month ago and it was a beauty. Current situation, as I try to work on a laundry room and guest bathroom renovation plan for a client: ⠀⠀ • one kid practicing French Horn • one kid loudly video-chatting with a friend • one dog growling and barking • me telling my ADHD brain to pull it together ⠀⠀ 😂 I can only take a deep breath and laugh and be thankful they are all here with me. ❤️

How many of you are making sure to maintain any of the healthy habits you had before all of this mess started? ⠀⠀ We are trying our best over here, but it’s not always easy when you need comfort and the first thing you think about is comfort food every day. 😬 Thankfully, I created the perfect green smoothie years ago, that even my kids love, and these have helped me kickstart my body each morning. But that still doesn’t mean I can be perfect with staying healthy. (Recipe added to stories!) ⠀⠀ I’m trying, guys. I really am. But last night I begged my son for the last portion of his chocolate Easter Bunny and he agreed....but we had to make a deal. 🤣 So he got to choose 2 episodes of The Office for us to watch as a family and I got the last bit of his Easter chocolate to tide me over. Day 19 | How’s your quaranTEEN doing? 🤷🏻‍♀️ My two kids are loving extra time with their dog-brother and more free time. They haven’t complained once (yet) about staying at home away from friends, but I keep waiting for it..... ⠀⠀ We are hanging in there and online school is going well! They seem to enjoy being in charge of when and where they do their work, so I’ll enjoy that while it lasts. Friends. My first post in almost 2 weeks. (Surgery will do that to you. 😉 Don’t worry - minor and healing. All good.) ⠀⠀ I shared about it on my stories because that’s all the bandwidth I had at the time, but I didn’t share here yet: YOU GUYS - my husband RELEASED HIS FIRST ALBUM! His very own! After 18 years of producing and engineering and songwriting and recording and backgrounding other people all over the place, he wrote his own. ⠀⠀ It seemed like odd time to release it last Friday among all the things that are happening in the world, but at the same time it felt right. This album is a thoughtful and uplifting collection of songs that I am in love with. Many special guests that are friends, whether it’s their gorgeous voices, perfect lyrics, matching harmony.....and the list goes on. ⠀⠀ He did NOT create this album to make money, but instead wanted to share it with whomever needed it after going through his own journey. ⠀⠀ So, now that we are at home A LOT 😉, and so are you, we would love it if you purchased a physical copy so we could mail it to you! 🥰 I am loving (sanitized) snail mail right about now. ⠀⠀ DM me if you want a copy mailed directly from us and I will send you the link to purchase OR you can go to his profile link for a digital version. After a rough start to 2020 for our family, I wanted to take a second to say thank you to all of my design family for checking in on me and caring. (Scroll for that V I E W 😉) While in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to attend a private party and a tour of The New American Home! @control4_smart_home did ALL of the automation for the home (if I am not mistaken) and did you know that everything you see that moves or turns on/off or plays, etc. can be done with ONE remote? I am not kidding - they can integrate it all into one! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Again, something I had no idea even existed before this trip. The house was crazy cool with the whole indoor/outdoor vibe that I love (but can’t really have because....TENNESSEE) and the view was outstanding. The saying ‘YOU DO YOU’ always reminds me of my stepsister. ❤️ That’s one of her signature sayings and she’s a blast! And now let me *slyly* segue that into talking about what a blast everybody was at @thermadorhome !! 😉 Their booth was so fun and creative in showing customers all that they are now offering. Where I’m standing in this pic is in a little vanity/yoga/makeup prep area and they used an under-the-counter refrigerator to remind us what a great idea that could be for keeping drinks cool in your vanity area, face masks, serums, etc. Essentially all the things that most of us are probably not doing right now to help our items last longer. 👀 OR as they show in the last photos, you can use one in your pet areas of your home for dog food and treats! Because, yep!.....my mother’s dog has to eat special (expensive) food that she has to keep refrigerated. 😬 It’s a thing. The most graceful B A T H T U B I have ever encountered was this carved one by @compacsurfaces - the level of craftsmanship on this custom piece is unmatched. S T E A M showers | What do you know about them?
