MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH 💛 ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ That smile on my face is real y’all. My journey with anxiety hasn’t been easy but it has made me a stronger woman. Here I am... happy and thankful for being able to kick anxiety in the butt. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I had my first panic attack in high school and man was it scary. I felt like I was dying and didn’t understand what was happening. After some time, I decided to see a psychologist. That is when I finally began to understand more about anxiety and panic attacks. I learned ways in which I could control it and feel better. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ However, I felt embarrassed. Why do I have anxiety? Why can’t I just be “normal”? What if someone finds out I’m seeing a psychologist? Will people judge me because of my anxiety? This is what society had made me think. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Oh how young & clueless I was. I’ve learned that I am not my anxiety. That having anxiety does not make me weird or unworthy of happiness. I learned that it is okay to need help and to ask for help.
