For years, I had a dream about an organization I wanted to join. I prayed, I worked, I showed up, and tried to prove myself over and over and over again to them. Nothing ever came of it. And I was heartbroken because I thought it meant that I was not supposed to be doing what I was doing. I wasn't good enough. I didn't fit in. I wasn't the kind of person they needed. I had to grieve that dream, recognize my insecurities that were rooted in that dream, and do some work around my need for that outside validation. And then, about four years ago, I got an email out of the blue, completely out of the blue -- that asked me if I wanted to be a part of @incourage . This was an organization that wasn't only interested in my output, but in me as a child of God. These women have invested in me, cried with me, and cheered me on. This crazy trip is such a gift, not because of the location (while that is one of the perks, for sure...) But because these beautiful, imperfect women not only show up for each other, but do the work of healing and loving awkwardly. We don't all agree on anything except the love of Christ. I'm grateful for the no that I kept getting all those years ago, and an answer to a prayer I didn't even know to pray. Do you have a "no" you are grateful for? Or maybe one you are wrestling with? When my house is so messy and cluttered that I don't want to do the things I believe God has called me to (loving my family, working, preparing meals, spending time with him), then there's a problem. On the other hand, when I'm spending so much of my time making sure my home is perfect that I don't have time for those things God has called me to, that's a problem as well. There is a spiritual sweet spot to our stuff. That is not going to look the same for everyone. Have you found yours? Read more in my book, Clutter Free.

You don't have to do everything the hard way. I love flexing on others by saying, "Yep, I grew that tomato from a seed." There is hardly any feeling more satisfying than seeing a seed go from something in a package to a Caprese salad. And at the same time, there is nothing wrong with getting a few starter plants to get you going if you have a little bit of money and are running low on patience or if you are getting started later than you thought.
