Nutrition and performance go hand in hand. Training for the Boston Marathon had me extra focused on what I was putting in my body and for good reason. I made sure to eat a variety of whole foods but also fun foods because you only live once. Officially a @teambaa Boston Marathon finisher! Thank you for the overwhelming amount of support. I am truly so honored to have run for @masseyeandear. I felt such a sense of pride doing this for a charity so close to my heart. This race was tough. The conditions were not ideal. In the words of my girl @oliviarodrigo “it was brutal” out there. Registered dietitian approved vegan stir fry 🥦🥬🍜 One of my favorite companies @melissasproduce sent me my ALL time favorite vegetable- bok choy. During the pandemic I literally couldn’t find it! It’s all about balance! During any season of life it can be hard to eat healthy and also love your life by eating out! I have made it a priority to prioritize nutrition during training cycle but also still got out to eat and enjoy foods I love. People be taking multi vitamins left and right, but what even is a vitamin? A vitamin is an organic molecule found In food and is required in small amounts. There are 13 essential vitamins. There are two types, water solve and fat soluble. Water soluble vitamins are stored limitedly and can lost when exposed to water, air and heat. Most vitamins are called B vitamins with the exception of vitamin C. There are energy releasing vitamins like thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, biotin, B6 and pantothenic acid. Then there are hematopoietic ones like folic acid, B12, B6 and pantothenic acid. These vitamins participate in the stages of forming red blood cells. Red blood cells transport oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body. Vitamins are extremely important in maintaining a healthy body. Even though they don’t provide calories, they provide a lot benefits. All fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and in high quantities.
